This reminds me of my fave series of fic tags: eventual smut, smut, if you squint there’s plot, the plot is they’re gay.

This pulled me out of a book slump by my slutty little heartstrings, and I loved it.

THE PREMISE: Harry and Draco are accidentally cursed with a bond where they’ll literally die if they don’t touch at least once every 48 hours. Spoiler: they fall in love.

TROPES & VIBES:
- Blushing, brilliant Draco and oblivious, vaguely ADHD Harry
- Post-war
- Ron and Hermione are awesome
- *when the ship have different relationships and it makes me possessive and insane*
- Beautiful, beautiful writing
- Truly minimal plot, but the vibes are immaculate. Very character-driven

This was BRILLIANT! This fanfic is written thousand times better than the published books I’ve picked up lately. Great chemistry, HOT, the push and pull done right, believable enemies to lovers development... I really loved it!

Totally recommend, free on AO3!

Drarry FTW. The writing in this fic is stunning. Pining Draco wrecked me. This story isn’t for the faint of heart- lots of other man/woman drama and jealousy and waiting but you get that HEA 🥹

Amazing, angsty.
Harry's a twat: Draco gives
family, love, hot sex.

This book! I've read it twice, and I could happily read it again and again. The writer has just published a Booker Prize and Lambda Literary Award nominated book under their real (I presume) name and all the love for that. But this book! It's simultaneously incredibly hot, horribly sad, super joyful, and perfectly paced. Tepre's Drarry are both recognizably canon and their own creation. Draco's agony at Harry's dismissal of his love is absolutely perfect, and Harry's eventual recognition of his utter capitulation to Draco--not to the bond, but to Draco--is soul consuming.

Honestly, it's the most perfect piece of fan fiction and I recommend it to everyone. I only wish it didn't depend so much on magic, and bonding, and the Drarry canon so that it could be published on its own.

Lovely. Bonding curse. Idiots in love.
It was a very emotional ride. For most part I was - "Harry, you need to get your shit together, you need to love yourself before everything else".
My favourite line was : “You’ve always liked people more once you saw others liking them” - so true, and so wrong, like he borrowed from others, not having his own feelings.

I have been meaning to read this for ages. I actually told my friend over whatsapp that I was going to read this sometime late 2020, and then proceeded to...not.

Pardon the digression, but: one of the biggest personal fallouts from the whole "JKR is an unrepentant transphobe" issue is that I've felt weird and icky reading fanfic. Which is sad, and doesn't make sense! Sort of like transphobia!

The vast, vast majority of fanfic writers, and certainly all the ones that I've avidly followed, have no patience for She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's antics. The death of the author, the author is dead, and her work is now ours to do with it as we will, as we have been doing for ages. And yet the most HP fandom I've perused in the past year or so has been a) some fanart that does a great job of fleshing out the "jock marries high school girlfriend"-ness of the Harry/Ginny relationship (https://www.instagram.com/potterbyblvnk/) and b) old pieces that I saved down in my earlier HP days, because you know the second you don't something will get lost never to be seen again (RIP Absolut Angel).

Which is a pity, because the fandom as a whole has changed in such amazing ways! Some authors I used to read are still around and have made their worlds that much more diverse and inclusive over time. People have realized that Snape is actually just an abuser and not super worthy of redemption without a proper, canon rewrite arc. So I'm glad that I gave this story a shot, because it's everything I love about HP plus a number of things I've grown to love as an adult.

First: the adult trio friendship! I never appreciated adult friendships when I was a younger adult, because why would you? Your friends are your friends forever and that's just the way it'll be. Well, now I'm an older adult and I've come to realize the truth of the other Girl Scout Adage: old friendships are like gold. And while in this story we're still talking about people in their early 20s (nothing makes me feel quite so old as realizing that most stories about Harry and Co will feature them...much younger than me) it's such a balm to my heart that there are multiple, conflict free story threads that involve Harry, Ron, and Hermione enjoying one another's company in the way that can only come when you've known someone for many, many years and have no more secrets.

Second: the brown Harry! I have to say I bought into Black Hermione way easy but found myself resisting the idea of brown/desi/other brown Harry for a while...maybe because it's harder to see myself represented than seeing fellow ethnicities of color represented? Either way, it's so lovely to see the idea of brown Harry being seamlessly integrated into the story.

Third: ah, the Keening Bond trope. I first read it in a Reylo fic that I enjoy very much (Variations on a Theme of You so it was funny to see it here. What I love especially about this iteration of the trope, though, is how long and drawn out the entire courting/romance portion is. Too often a romance happens over days (ugh), weeks (okay), or months (sure?) but in all honesty love is shown over years. This story takes place over years, and it's honestly the epitome of the classic exchange from Veronica Mars:

Logan : ...I thought our story was epic, you know, you and me.

Veronica : Epic how?

Logan : Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC. But summer's almost here, and we won't see each other at all. And then you leave town... and then it's over.

...

Veronica : Come on. Ruined lives? Bloodshed? You really think a relationship should be that hard?

Logan : No one writes songs about the ones that come easy.

This is a story that I struggled with but overall enjoyed. It is a story of Draco and Harry becoming bonded and having to deal with it. We see how it changes them and forces them to slowly get to know one another. Draco was perfection but I struggled with Harry. He is meant to be clueless and insensitive but even when he grew as a character he was still those things that bordered on being unacceptable.

Tepre

Tropes:
– Draco/Harry fanfiction
– Accidental bonding
– Enemies to lovers
– Forced proximity
– Some cheating*

When a curse forms a bond between Draco and Harry, they need to find a way to deal with this overpowering need to be around each other all the time.

This was phenomenal. Harry was such a dick so not everyone will like him because he is so mean to Draco in the beginning. He was dismissive and rude and when Draco tried to get along with Harry, Harry was just so rude about it all. But oh my god, the resulting PINING AND GROVELING WAS SO WORTH IT. Like, it was just what I needed. Harry's heartache is so so so evident and you kind of WANT him to hurt because of how badly he treated Draco. He made up for it. I loved this book!

Gorgeous story! This is my first piece of fanfiction and I loved it! The angst between Draco and Harry is captivating. I loved that Tepre stuck to the original premise of the HP books and built on that to make their relationship more believable. Harry was a bit insufferable at the beginning and that was very on brand for what I would expect of him post war. This was a true Draco redemption story, it’s his time to shine and he does not disappoint. I also enjoyed reading about Neville, Ron, and Hermione in very run of the mill, real life situations. The spice is great and the pinning even better! 10/10 recommend!

Beautiful and tumultuous story about Harry and Draco cursed with a bond that made them touch each other or die.
They were about to die several times because, hello, enemies to lovers.
How I love that trope!
There was mutual pinning and jealousy that was delicious as well.
Two flawed characters trying to love the other without letting the other noticed, can you see how this could go wrong?
Well, wrong it went. And then it went right. About 8 years later.

I loved all the Egypt things, Neville being a great friend, insecure but proud Draco. I trust this story will stay with me for a while.

Wow. That was like a fever dream. The slowest of burns, the hurt/comfort. I had a stomach ache through the first 50% of this book. My god it hurrrrrrtt. The tension. The self sabotage. I can’t. The writing was impeccable. Stylistically gorgeous. The prose just flowed. I can’t say enough good things about this fic. I was completely taken by surprise. Stayed up until 4:00 am. No capacity to put it down. This is my second Drarry fic. I’m usually a Dramione girl but my god there is something in the water with Drarry because they are so clean and well written.

Frustratingly long but read it, don't entirely regret it.

Update: ok now that I'm a bit farther removed from the length trauma I can do a better review. This is one of my favorite Malfoy characters from all the Draco fanfics I've been reading. Harry was...not well liked for me however it was an interesting and engaging story it simply didn't need to be that long the plot was fluffed up with so much mundane stuff I have to believe the writer just had target word count in their head. All in all loved Malfoy in this one ❤

It was a love that didn't grow on the most fertile of grounds, not with the most sunlight or the most care, and yet had bloomed — had born fruit, entirely against all expectations, and had become heavy with it.

Obscenely beautiful.

I cannot get over how unbearably beautiful this fic is. The smut... calling it smut feels criminal. It’s a divine meeting of two souls, a holy convergence charged with tension and desire so intense I could almost taste the electricity on my tongue. I loved it, utterly.
