About the author

Sujatha was the allonym of the Tamil author S. Rangarajan, Author of over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil movies.

As an engineer, he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine (EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. As an author he inspired many authors, including Balakumaran, Madhan.

2. Except for Ganesh - Vasanth everyone else was shown as dumb. இந்த மாதிரி ஊர்லயே இவா மட்டும் தான் அறிவாளினு எழுதுனாலே படிக்க கடுப்பா இருக்கே.
3. பெருசா கதையில்லை.
4. வசந்த் வழக்கம் போல pervert ஆக அலையும் காட்சிகள் எல்லாம் படிக்கவே சகிக்கலை. அதுவும் 14-15 வயதுச்சிறுமிகளைப் பார்த்து அவன் பேசுவதெல்லாம் படிக்க நாராசமாக இருந்தது.
5. போற போக்குல அறிஞர் அண்ணாவைக் கலாய்த்து இருக்கிறார். சுஜாதா தொடர்ந்து திரைப்பட வசனங்களில் செய்த அதே மக்கள் விரோத சாதி அரசியல் நெடி இந்த நூலிலும் வெளிப்படுகிறது.
6. மீண்டும் செய்யப்பட்ட அந்தக் குற்றம் என்ன? நான் மீண்டுமொரு சுஜாதா நூல் படித்தது தான்.

குற்ற பின்னணியில் உள்ள கதைகளுக்கு என்றும் மவுசு உண்டு. தமிழில் சுஜாதா இந்த ரகத்தை சார்ந்த எழுத்தாளர்களில் முக்கியமானவர். அதிலும் கணேஷ்-வசந்த் என்று அவர் உருவாக்கிய வக்கீல் கதாபாத்திரம் மிகவும் பிரபலம்.

கணேஷ் - வசந்திற்க்கு சிவப்பிரகாசம் என்ற ஒருவரிடம் இருந்து தொலைபேசி அழைப்பு ஒன்று வருகிறது. அதில் அவர் உயிருக்கு ஆபத்து சீக்கிரம் வரவும் என்று சொல்கிறார். ஆனால் அவர்கள் செல்வதற்குள் அந்த கொலை நிகழ்கிறது. அவர் சொந்தக்காரர் ஒருவரான அருணாச்சலம் அகப்படுகிறான். இருந்தும் தான் நிரபராதி என்று சாதிக்கிறான். உண்மையான குற்றவாளி யார்? அருணாச்சலத்திற்கு இந்த கொலையில் என்ன பங்கு உள்ளது? இதெல்லாம் கண்டு பிடிப்பதே 'மீண்டும் ஒரு கொலை'.

வேகமாக நகரும் கதைக்களம் இந்த 'மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம்'. கணேஷ் வசந்த் என்ற இரண்டு பேரும் எப்பொழுதும் போல் இதில் தனது துப்பறியும் திறமைகளை வெளிக்காட்டுகிறார்கள். வசந்த் தனது ரெட்டை அர்த்த வசனத்தை தொடர்கிறான். இது போன்ற கதைகள் அதிகமாக படித்ததாலோ என்னமோ சலிப்பாகவே இருந்தது. பாதி புத்தகம் ஆனபோதே யார் குற்றவாளி என்று நம்மால் யூகிக்க முடிகிறது. அது தெரிந்ததனாலோ என்னவோ இந்த கதை கொஞ்சம் சீக்கிரமாகவே முடித்துக்கொள்கிறார் எழுத்தாளர். அவருக்கே உரியநகைச்சுவை நடை எப்பொழுதும் போல் இதிலும் உள்ளது.

வழக்கமான சுஜாதா புத்தகத்தின் விறுவிறுப்பு கொஞ்சம் கம்மியாக இருந்தாலும் ஒரு இரண்டு மணி நேர வாசிப்பில் முடிக்க முடிந்த ஒரு சிறு புத்தகம் இந்த 'மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம்'.

இந்த புதுவருஷத்தில் மீண்டும் அசுரத்தனமான வாசிப்பு மார்க்கத்தில் இறங்கியதில் ”மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம்”த்தை கையிலெடுத்தேன். இல்லை... கிண்டிலிலெடுத்தேன். பெரிய கம்பெனிக்கு எம்டியாக இருக்கும் விடோயர் செல்வந்தவர் கொலைசெய்யப்படுகிறார். அதை கணேஷும் வசந்த்தும் துப்பறிந்து கண்டுபிடிக்கிறார்கள். மௌன விரதம் என்று வேஷம் போடுபவனையும் ஒரு பூங்காவின் கடிகாரத்தையும் வைத்து கொலை செய்தவனைப் பிடித்துவிடுகிறார்கள். நடுநடுவே வசந்த்தின் இளமை பொங்கும் விளையாட்டுக்கள். லீகல் பாயிண்டுகள்.

எல்லா சுஜாதா நாவல்கள் போலவே இதுவும் அட்டையைப் பிரித்தால் அட்டையை மூடும் வரை கண்ணெடுக்காமல் படிக்கவைக்கும் ரகம். பக்கத்துக்குப் பக்கம் கணேஷும் வசந்த்தும் வருவது கூடுதல் பலம்.

நாவலின் ராட்சச வேகத்தின் ஊடே ஒரு ஆஸ்பத்திரியைக் கடக்கும் போது வசந்த் கணேஷுக்குச் சொல்லும் ஒரு ஜோக்கை இங்கே இணைக்கிறேன்.

வசந்த்தின் வசனங்கள் சுஜாதாவின் பல்வேறு தரப்பட்ட வாசிப்புகளின் வடிகாலாக இருந்தது என்பது வாத்யாரின் ரசிகக்கண்மணிளுக்குத் தெரியும்.  வசந்த் ஒரு வயதானவரோடு பேசும் இடத்தில்...

மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம் என்று வாத்யார் ஏன் தலைப்பு வைத்தார் என்ற யோசனையைத் தவிர்த்து வேறொன்றும் நினைக்கத் தோன்றவில்லை!  (வரிசையாக க்ரைம் நாவல்கள் எழுதிக்கொண்டிருக்கும் போது இருக்கலாமோ?) :-)

சுஜாதாவின் "மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம்"

சுஜாதாவின் "மீண்டும் ஒரு குற்றம்" வழக்கறிஞர்கள் கணேஷ்-வசந்த் duo தோன்றும் மற்றுமொரு murder mystery. பிரபல தொழிலதிபர் சிவப்பிரகாசம் என்பவர் கணேஷை தொலைப்பேசியில் அழைத்து தன்னைக் கொலை செய்ய சதி நடக்கிறது எனக் கூறி அவனது உதவியை நாடுகிறார், அரை மணி நேரத்துக்குள் தன்னை வந்து சந்திக்குமாறும் வற்புறுத்துகிறார். கணேஷ்-வசந்த் அங்கே சென்றடைவதற்குள் அவர் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுக் கிடக்கிறார். தொழில் விரோதம், குடும்பச் சிக்கல், சொத்துரிமை தகராறு என பல குழப்பங்களுக்கு நடுவில் கணேஷ்-வசந்த் இருவரின் investigation துவங்குகிறது.

ஒரு template murder mystery ஆக துவங்கும் இந்நாவல் ஒரு investigation drama-வாக மாறி பயணிக்கிறது. ஆனால் ஒரு மர்ம நாவலுக்கு தேவையான பரபரப்பு குறைவே. நாவல் நெடுக வரும் ஆபாச வசனங்கள் சாதிப்பது “objectifying women” மட்டுமே, கதையின் ஓட்டத்துக்கு எந்தவித தொடர்பும் இல்லை. ஆங்காங்கே அமையும் அரசியல் வசனங்களில் சுஜாதாவின் ideological stance வெளிப்படுகிறது.

நாவலின் நீளம் குறைவ��னதாக இருப்பது சாதகமாக அமைகிறது. எனினும் இந்நாவல் புதிதாக ஏதும் வழங்காத ஒரு highly predictable, done and dusted murder mystery.

Fairly well written whodunit

Starring Ganesh-Vasanth, Sujatha's famous detective lawyers, this short novel keeps the interest somewhat going, if only due to just one or two surprises. Vasanth, normally likeable in his playboy facade, is a bit too much in targeting school kids this time - not everyone might enjoy this aspect.

பெருசா கதைனு சொல்ற அளவுக்கு ஒன்னும் இல்லை. மௌனவிரத ஆசாமி வாடகை வீட்டில் பேசும் நொடி வரை ஒகே வகையாக இருந்தது.
வசந்த் ஒரு மாதிரியான ஆளு என்பது சுஜாதாவின் புத்தகங்களில் தெரியும். ஆனால் அதற்கென்று 14-15 வயது சிறுமிகளை பார்த்து ஆசை கொள்வது போன்ற விஷயங்களை தவிர்த்து இருக்கலாம்.

Good one

Though I was able to guess the culprits it was interesting in the way Ganesh tried to find the conclusive evidence. The negative is the Vasanth character goes overboard with the female characters.

ஒரு அப்பா தன் பையனை அழைச்சுகிட்டு வீதில ஜாலியா நடந்து போயிகிட்டு இருந்தாரு, அப்ப நடுரோட்டுல ரெண்டு நாய்ங்க என்னமோ விஷயம் பண்ணிகிட்டு இருக்க, பையன் சின்னபிள்ளை, அதிக ஆர்வத்தோட “அப்ப,அப்பா அந்த ரெண்டு நாயும் என்ன பண்றது?”-ன்னு கேட்டானாம்...

Ganesh-Vasanth these two names enough to persuade me to finish the book in few hours even if I have some other plans.Today I planned to watch a documentary on Watergate scandal ended up in reading this book only because I saw their names at the first page.A nicely written whodunnit novel with Vasanth's typical exploitations but I could predict murderer and what's gonna happen without much difficulty.
