He used to scoff at fate...

A long time ago, he was ruler among gods. Fallen, he was exiled, sent to oversee the underworld. Until a mage on Earth caught his interest, and their friendship got him involved with the one he was always meant to protect - the Lady of the Lake.

He used to scoff at love....

With Vivienne safe in Sébastien's embrace, Atrox sheds the last of his protector skin, and says goodbye to his alter, Alistair, for good. Something else has drawn his attention, and it's got nothing to do with keeping watch from afar. Rather, it's got everything to do with getting closer than ever before.

...until he falls in the most final trap of all.

Atrox's last adventure leads him to the kingdom of the Fae, as he seeks the one who stole his heart - the Fae heiress, Catriona. But her aging father is not keen on letting one of his worst enemies win over his daughter. Without mercy, he sets up a trap: seven labours, each harder than the next. If Atrox wins them all, he can plead his case to Catriona herself. And if he loses...he faces death itself.

*One last conclusion in the Avalon Chronicles series. Want to find out Alistair's fate? It's all in here! Can be read as a standalone fantasy.*

Alexa Whitewolf is a Romanian-born fantasy and paranormal romance author whose stories blend mythology, folklore, and unforgettable love stories. Growing up in the heart of Transylvania, surrounded by ancient legends and mist-covered mountains, she developed an overactive imagination at an early age—and never quite grew out of it.

Today, Alexa calls the coast of Ireland home, where Celtic landscapes and local folklore continue to inspire her work. Her books feature fierce heroines, devoted (and often dangerously protective) heroes, found families, and the enduring belief that even the darkest stories can lead to hope.

Her worlds draw on a rich tapestry of mythology, from Romanian legends in the "Moonlight Rogues" and "Lost Royals of Transylvania" series to Arthurian lore in "The Avalon Chronicles" and the pantheons of ancient civilizations in "Immortal Rogues."

When she isn't writing, Alexa works as a professional fiction editor through her business, Luna Imprints Author Services, helping authors bring their own stories to life. She can usually be found with a cup of coffee in hand, exploring a new corner of Ireland, or walking the beach with her Siberian Husky, Achilles.

Love can be an amazing game changer for ATROX as he faces seven tasks, each more deadly than the last and is willing to risk death to be with the beautiful Catriona. But will Atrox find something just as precious as the love of another? Will he find an inner love and acceptance he has never possessed?

Alexa Whitewolf’s writing has grown, and it shows in this tale of self-discovery and change. I could see the challenges, the world of the Fae and feel the gradual changes that came over Atrox as he risks everything for a chance at happiness and closeness with the woman he loves.

Scenes that come to life, characters with strong personalities and a brutal world to survive, all for only a chance at love!

I received a complimentary ARC edition from Alexa Whitewolf! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Even though Avalon Nightmares was a great ending to the Avalon Chronicles, there was one thing I wanted more of. That thing? Atrox. There were aspects of his story that went unanswered, and I was desperate to get the details of how things played out for him. After all, he was one of my favourite characters of the series and I needed as much about him as I could get.

Although Atrox is a novella, there is plenty packed into this one. I have a love-hate relationship with novellas and short stories, as I often find myself wishing they’d given me more. Such was not the case here. Atrox had more than enough packed into it, ensuring I powered through it and came out more than happy with it.

Those that have read the Avalon Chronicles will be aware of Atrox and Catriona. They will be aware of the forbidden nature of the feelings between the two, meaning they will not be surprised by the issues Atrox will have to face to prove himself worthy of the woman he loves. Due to their supernatural nature, the things he needs to do to prove himself go beyond a simple show of trust.

With Atrox, we have something that is always a lot of fun. Whether you label it a quest, a challenge, or a mission, it all comes down to Atrox overcoming trials to prove himself. The elements link in well with all we know about Atrox, taking us that little bit deeper into his life, and leaving us overjoyed with the insight we’re given into him.

If, like me, Atrox was a favourite in the Avalon Chronicles, you need to give this novella a read to see him get his happily ever after.
