Here be an oracle. Despair all ye who seek her. Magic will have its cake and eat it too.
Okay, well. So I was mixing metaphors. I was new to the gig.
But as far as I could tell, there were three kinds of people. Those who wanted confirmation that they’d chosen the correct path. Those who wanted to deny there was any sort of destiny at all. And those who wanted to tear it all down.
So why was it always the third type that showed up at the door to my 1975 Brave Winnebago, dragging me into their power struggles and using my past against me — when I didn’t even know what that past was?
Could I thwart the destiny that had been envisioned for me before I was born? Could I carve out a future filled with love and light with my chosen mate?
I certainly knew what I was capable of doing to survive. Beyond the past, through the present, and well into the future … I’d see us. -------------------- This paranormal romance/urban fantasy is the third book in the Oracle Series by author Meghan Ciana Doidge.
WARNING: ADULT (18+) CONTENT
Author’s Note: I See Us is the third and final book in the Oracle series, which is set in the same universe as the Dowser series. While it is not necessary to read both series, the ideal reading order is as follows: Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic (Dowser 1) Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic (Dowser 2) Treasures, Demons, and Other Black Magic (Dowser 3) I See Me (Oracle 1)* Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic (Dowser 4) Maps, Artifacts, and Other Arcane Magic (Dowser 5) I See You (Oracle 2) Artifacts, Dragons, and Other Lethal Magic (Dowser 6) I See Us (Oracle 3)
Meghan Ciana Doidge writes tales of true love conquering all, even death. Though sometimes the love is elusive, the vampires and werewolves come out to play in the daylight, and bloody mayhem ensues.
I really enjoyed this oracle trilogy. It's fun puzzling out what her visions actually mean, and how to change things. Plus, I think Rochelle is a much stronger lead character than Jade. Not stronger magically, but it's somewhat astonishing what a solid, thoughtful person Rochelle - the orphan raised in the system, neglected terribly - is as compared to Jade, the person brought up in a well-off family that loved her. I feel like when I started the oracle books after Dowser #3 (as per the author's reading order), Jade suffered a lot by comparison, and it led to me liking her less (when I was already a bit wobbly on her ... she's just so slow on the uptake).
While this book doesn't really end Rochelle and Beau's story, as it seems like they're going to probably continue appearing as secondary characters in the rest of the Adept books from here on out, it does bring their arc to a solid conclusion. They find their footing together, they stop running and hiding, and seem to settle into a life they both want together. It's is really satisfying, and is probably where I'm leaving the Adept universe, as I'm not interested in continuing the dragon bullshit. Plus, it's nice to go out at a high point.
Meghan's amazing stories are amazing, intriguing and addictive. You can always count on experiencing a wide range of emotions throughout the story. When you start reading there's no stopping! In this book we learn so much about Rochelle and her abilities. I was on the edge of my seat with each chapter and revalation about her and even a few unexpected tidbits about other Adepts. I highly highly recommend this series to anyone who loves the Dowser series or just a good read with magic, laughs and the ability to make you care deeply about its characters.
Loved the series. I was really attached to the character as she grew up, matured and found her destiny. Very sorry that the series is complete but enjoyed every minute. I gave 5 stars not for this book alone but for the entire series and the way the author masterfully made me care what happened to this anti-social, rough kid who needed to find a capacity to love. This series has a bit of magic itself in the way that it is really much more than the sum of its parts. The series should be read in order. I look forward to reading more from this author.
4.5 Stars... This is the finale to the Oracle series, but we continue to see these beloved characters throughout the series connected to this world... Rochelle comes full circle in this read as she confronts her past and learns to live with her role as an Oracle... When her mother's estate comes into play as well as the arrival of her mysterious and powerful grandmother, Rochelle's comfortable world begins to crumble... As visions of a demon begin to take centerstage this group of powerful Adepts must ban together to change all their fates... All is not as it seems, and when the answers are revealed, will Beau's and Rochelle's destiny be changed forever? This final read really packed a punch with a deadly enemy and a mystery to unravel as well as witnessing Rochelle come fully into her power and embrace who she is destined to be... I enjoyed this series and look forward to how these characters will continue to evolve in the overall Dowser World:)
I've never read this. When I first found this Universe, this book was oddly unavailable. As I was reading it, there was a vague feeling of "I don't remember this, but it's been awhile since I read any of these books," but usually with the other ones, I've found something that triggers a memory. Now I understand why this one wasn't triggering me. It's too bad I didn't know there was this one to look forward to when I was reading the other two books in the Oracle series. I really dislike the other two stories, and I was NOT a fan of Rochelle and Beau. But this one goes a long way in making both of these characters more realized. It starts rough, Rochelle and Beau up to their normal brat, immature behavior, but as the story goes they not only mature and grow up, but they themselves feel more like real people. Not everything was about them. They didn't have to always fight everyone all the time. They opened themselves up to others. Their bubble became larger. They allowed themselves to rely on others, including Jade Godfrey (finally). And if they stick this way, next time the pop up in the Dowswer books, I won't be rolling my eyes and waiting for them to go away.
Doidge's Adept series is written as interlinking sets of trilogies. This Oracle trilogy, of which this is the 3rd book, should be read interwoven into the Dowser series (now at 6 books). That being said, this trilogy featuring Rochelle, a powerful Oracle, and her mate, Beau, a tiger shapeshifter takes on a darker and more somber tone than the Dowser series. They work well together as the reader is taken through a different side of the Adept (people with extraordinary abilities) world, one where everyone isn't good, the hero, or all powerful. Between books 2 and 3 we (readers) can well understand why some people don't want anything to do with their biological families. Don't start with this one or even just the first book of this trilogy. Make sure to read it in the author recommended order for the full impact of the story arc. I'm loving this series!
From sadistic granma’s coming out of the woodwork, demons, conniving sorcerers and finally the family they’ve always wanted. This book was a delight. Rochelle and Beau are such a strong couple and in this book you see their bond strength even during moments of adversity, arguments, danger and more. Tess and Gary are their grounding force, the older couple who come along and just gives them the unconditional love and support that both Beau and Rochelle have never had from parental figures in their lives.
Another fantastic book of Meghan's! I freaking love this trilogy so much. I just melt into a puddle everytime something of Rochelle and Beau's love come together. It's so well-written and emotional. This was an intense final installment of the trilogy. I did not see it coming, again, so well-written and fun. I am always simultaneously surprised and not surprised at the depth, reality, and rawness that the characters have woven into them. It's like the characters are real. It's like they move along the story rather than the story having them inside of it. That's the mark of a true, great book. Another mark of a truly great book is when you finish it, you hug it. The book is like saying goodbye for now to a good friend. I love this book so much and look forward to all future work.
Oh my god, this had better not be the last we see of Beau and Rochelle! I'm both happy and sad that I'm done with this one. I'm glad that these two kids who've been knocked around have finally found a path all their own but I am so, so sad to say goodbye. Is this goodbye? I don't like not knowing...
We join Rochelle in the aftermath of having sent Blackwell off with Jade and her merry band of badasses. She knew there would be repercussions but I guess she always assumed he would be there for her. Maybe it's better if he's not, because since his disappearing act, she's grown a lot. She's been doing her Oracle thing, living in what may really be the closest thing to a permanent home she's ever had, and even raising chickens! Of course, things are never simple and her HEA is not here yet. She gets a startling vision of a demon coming and, to make matters more confusing, she's also tasked with some sort of legacy from her mom.
Do we get new characters? You betcha! There's a new witch that ends up bringing the legacy to Rochelle, and she's pretty neat. We also get some kids and shifters thrown in to round out the possible body count in this madness. While we learn a bit about Rochelle's past, the big whammy comes in the form of a long lost relative. No, things don't go well. Yes, we do get some great resolution. Yes, we lose a pretty big main character. No, I didn't cry, but I almost did!
Overall, as a wrap-up to this Oracle trilogy, it leaves things in a good place. I could read 20 more of these and still just be chugging along. Sadly, also, the next series is not yet audio, so I will be moving infinitely slower through those. I was hoping we would loop back around and get more Desmond or pack business, but, alas, that will have to wait until later (I hope!). Bye, Rochelle and Beau!
As you can tell by fact i have read all the series, try to read in series order as the books are not stand alone stories. Werewolves, Seers, Cupcakes, vampires, mages, Dragons and Chocolate
Below is the reading order though you can read this before but nice to read in order 1. Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic, Dowser 1 2. Trinkets, Treasures, and Other Bloody Magic, Dowser 2 3. Treasures, Demons, and Other Black Magic, Dowser 3 4. I See Me, Oracle 1 5. Shadows, Maps, and Other Ancient Magic, Dowser 4 6. Maps, Artifacts, and Other Arcane Magic, Dowser 5 7. I See You, Oracle 2 8. Artifacts, Dragons, and Other Lethal Magic, Dowser 6 9. I See Us, Oracle 3 10. Catching Echoes (Reconstructionist 1) 11. I don't like her (Rochelle) . It's like she is at least two different people.
There is a part where the only Black man (shape-shifting Tiger) is killed with a rope. but not really. He was choked by a magical silver whip that leftburns on his neck. Yeah, that wasn't better at all.
During a fight she forced her boyfriend out of the motor-home like he didn't have the right to be there.
The evil grandmother was so oblivious and obnoxious how could anyone not see it?
At some parts hearted like a little girl and other times like a confused baddie.
The was she treated some people like she was some kind of reluctant princess.
I liked the idea of the story that connects with the Dragons and dosing cupcake slinger. (Jade)
Candy the enforcer was a bright spot.
Rochelle needs to see the Drake (ruined name ) is on her side like he's not on anyone else's.
Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want wedding rings made from an evil broach owned by my evil grandmother. 💍
I'm really, really glad to be finished with the three book run. 😮💨

Great Series. Started 1st Cupcakes, Trinkets and Other Deadly Magic on December 9th, then went binged all the others and today I start Unleashing Echoes.
1st reason - I've enjoyed this series is I really like the main characters, Jade, Rochelle and Westeria and their friends. I've found for me, if I don't like the people I'm reading about I don't enjoy the story. Her characters are complex with flaws but they care and they are trying to do what's right, which is not always easy.
Plus each Main character saw the world through their experiences which definitely, for me, gave them life.
2nd reason - Story. The story in each book kept my interest from beginning to end and the humor found was refreshing and, while I don't care about sex in a story, you didn't make the sex more important than the story so it did a good job of enhancing both the story and characters.
I like this broader series, but the Oracle books aren't actually my faves. I just can't skip them because otherwise I'll feel like I've missed important things. Now I can finally start the reconstructionist book! I think the vampire is in those ones!!! :D
Anyway, despite my misgivings (?) about this main character and her relationship with her tiger (why does he stay anyway? I don't really get them) this book did introduce some interesting powerful characters and made a bit of headway on some existing characters. I would have liked to have seen more of the shifters. Also, I am hoping someday to find out more about Desmond. Loved the Deathlayer chickens!
So Rochelle and Beau have found a balance and are enjoying their piece of the world and their friends. Two strangers and a old friend/acquaintance descend and their world flips upside down. Funny how two fairly normally adjusted adepts can have such messed up extended family. This is a great read that brings Rochelle full circle to where her life began. I also like how it linked in Jade, Mory, Jade’s bakery from the Dowser series back into the story.
Again a winning read from Meghan Ciana Doidge with an amazing set of characters and twisting plots.
Rochelle and Beau are helping a shifter family open a business when someone located Rochelle with an inheritance from her Mother. But she also finds her Father's Mother, her grandmother Win, who ends up being a evil sorcerer. Of all the characters in the Dowser series, Rochelle is one of my favorites and will miss her. I hope she pops up in other books.
I do so love a found family story, especially with some morally grey characters thrown in for spice. I love Tess and Gary, and a sue there is more to them than meets the eye. I enjoyed the evil grandmother and the demon thread, and the battles. And of course, Richelle and Beau. I really enjoyed this side series about the Oracle, and hearing to see how that weaves in to the Dowser series. Now for the Reconstructionist!
The world Meghan has created is completely immersive! I can only hope that she continues! I started with the first Dowser series, realized there were two more series within the same world and have been hooked from the beginning. I am following the end of this series up with the newest Dowser story.
I'm officially a sucker for this series. Flat out great urban fantasy with well built, compelling characters and complex relationships... all while effortlessly intertwining with Jade's story arc. Supposedly this is the end of Rochelle's p.o.v., which makes me sad, but nice to see an author let a thread play to its natural path instead of artificially dragging out a storyline.
Hard to put this book down. I love all the twist & turns. How one book leads to the next on this amazing journey. I feel like I'm right there in the story with all the characters. I just absolutely love all lf these books & how the characters from other stories will have cameos in the book you're reading. I highly recommend & suggest they are read in order!
The trilogy wraps up with our oracle completing her found family in fine fashion. I enjoyed the smaller tight knit group of people who love her for who she is - MCD will do a terrific found family in a more spectacular fashion with the Amplifier series as well. This is definitely one of my favorite characters in this giant world series.
I like the universe created by M.C. Doidge and the plots of each of the sub-series that make up this saga. This book, however, was a bit heavy for me. Pages and pages in which nothing much happens and all the action takes place all at once in the last third of the book. In any case, it is an entertaining novel to read in summer.
Everything about this series is everything a UF can could want. I highly recommend this and any of Ms. Doidge's books. I highly recommend reading all of her books in order.
Awesome story! The story is well written and the mystery just flows. Rochelle and Beau meet some new people and stay connected to some old friends. Family becomes an issue but in this instant sometimes your choices will turn your life around. I recommend this book!
I loved the banter between the characters and how the story flowed, flawlessly. The story was fresh and had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who to trust. Excellent books.
Rochelle and Beau's story arc is my favorite in Doidge's world. However, sweet lovers: it's highly inappropriate to express your fervor by christening the children's treehouse. Um- shifters... what you did will not be a damned secret.
It took me awhile to get into the characters but I love Rochelle and Beau's love. Their found family made me fall for all of them. It's been wonderful to watch them grow into themselves and into this world of magic.
Classic Doidge ingredients of northern west coast landscape, compelling characters, delicious treats, an idyllic finish. The Oracle series is a charming side note in the Dowser universe….though I would’ve liked to se The Brave parked rather than crashed…
Rochelle gets a visit from long lost family who have found her and it becomes obvious very quickly that being an orphan in the system was actually a betting option to growing up in this dysfunctional family.
Of course Rochelle’s most interesting story would be her last book. This actually made me want to know more about her family and background so I hope we get some more of it throughout the rest of the series
To see and contemplate the whole and what comes next of this intriguing series is awesome. The twists and turns and humanity of the “monsters” and magic and various adepts involved is lovely, and almost makes me wish it were real, even if it would be terrifying!
