Lady Gold Investigates Volume 3 by Lee Strauss was another entertaining afternoon read for me. Ms. Strauss' descriptive writing allows me to enjoy visiting London without leaving home. These stories may be short but the mysteries are not easy to solve as Ginger, Felicia and Boss have a couple of intricate cases to solve. With a flair for fashion, clear thinking, interrogation skills that match her husband's, Basil, Ginger solves both these mysteries in record time.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.

In The Case of the Missing Time, A popular film actor wanders into the office unable to account for almost three days of his time. He wonders what happened and where he has been. Ginger and Felicia are on the case. I liked Alex at first, when he was confused. I didn't like him as much once more was revealed about his character and what had happened. He was a little smarmy once he recovered his memory. The mystery was a little obvious. I don't know why Ginger didn't figure out who right away or at least question that person. When she did track down the person, they were a little too willing to reveal what they had done and go quietly to jail. This person is a little odd. I like how the mystery alludes to what happened in Murder at Kensington Gardens. Felicia is a little immature here and there but she's better when she has something to do.

The Case of the Unlucky Cricketeer finds Ginger out of her wheelhouse attending a cricket match with her beloved Basil. Neville Sutcliffe, Basil's favorite player, is expected to bring his team Middlesex to victory. Instead, Neville is bowled out right away. Neville blames the loss of his lucky bat. The bat is a family heirloom and has sentimental as well as monetary value. He's certain someone stole it and wants Ginger to find the bat and return it to him.

Like Ginger, I don't understand cricket or enjoy sports. I don't get the male obsession with sports or athletes. This mystery is really intriguing though. Who stole the bat? It's most likely someone from an opposing team but no one seems to know anything. Team manager, Mr. John Adamson is a dog lover so I don't think he did it. He spills the beans on rival team manager, Clive Holland. What he shares is surprising. Neville's father, Oscar Sutcliffe, a former cricket player himself, has a very good motive. What Ginger finds out about him surely makes him seem suspicious. What about Neville's former roommate Kabir Patel? He seems like a mild mannered man but money drives people to do crazy things. He had the motive and opportunity to steal the bat.

This mystery is pretty tight and I didn't guess what happened at all. Ginger did something really, really stupid. She rushed in without thinking. Good thing she had such an important job during the war and knows how to take care of herself!

This was another nice, light set of mysteries featuring Ginger, Felicia, Basil and Boss.

Bite Sized Mysteries

This is the 3rd book of short stories I have read but this one was not as interesting to me. The stories in this one were about a cricket player and an actor. I had a bit of difficulty following the story about the actor and had to read part of it twice and the cricket one was a bit boring to me in the start of the story but the ending was good. I am thinking it was just me as the stories were well written, it was just that they lacked appeal to me and my attention wandered. This is overall a great series and l love the characters and the dog. I think I was less pleased with this book because Boss the dog was not prominent in the stories. His antics ate so cute and the author weaves them into the story in such a fluid way. Without Boss, the stories just did not have to same appeal for me.

Two delightful short stories

Ginger’s short stories are just as good as her full length books. I enjoy her so much, with her spy background and her sophisticated ways. These two little mysteries were very interesting and a bit different from the usual murder mystery. They make for an entertaining read.

How very cricket!

I recently started getting into the Lady Gold Investigates series and I really like them. They are perfect as a quick pre-bed read. So far no murders, just quirky puzzles and interesting characters.

I highly recommend for fans of 1920s cozies featuring strong, smart women

I love these novelettes; they are so easy to read.
Both mysteries surprised me. I thought the first gentleman was in some sort of medieval trance, and the solution to the case of the cricket player came out of left field (sorry for mixing metaphors.)

Great read

Fun and two good mysteries in one short story! More antics and car chases than a normal woman would have, but who said Ginger Gold was a normal woman?😀

Volume 3 of Lady Gold Investigates contains 2 novellas.
The first is The Case of the Missing time
This story involves an amnesiac actor who turns up at Gingers office.while there he regains his memory of who he is but asks Ginger to find out where he has been.Ginger not only finds out where he has been but why he is prone to amnesia.

The second is The Case of the unlucky Cricketer
Superstition abounds in this story. When the lucky bat of champion cricketer Neville Sutcliffe is stolen Ginger is called in to find the bat.
Lee s descriptions of the era , Gingers attire and various events bring them to life, making it very easy to visualize. Lee covers a wide range of happenings in the 1920s from art theft , gambling and superstition.
Both are quick reads ideal for a morning commute.
I thoroughly enjoy her writing

Another two short mysteries that definitely does not disappoint! The Case of Missing Time is the first story and draws you in completely from the first page on! We see the incredible ingenuity of Ginger, the fun and assistant, sister-in-law Felicity and of course the smart adorable Boston Terrier Boss who seems to have a sixth sense about people! In this first case, a movie star appears disheveled at their office door looking for help. He has no idea how he got this way or where he was or what happened to him as he is limping, soaked and so confused. Taking on this case leads Ginger, Felicity and Boss on a strange journey trying to unravel threads of the story until Basil is called in to help at the end once the mystery is unraveled. Then we have the second story of the Unlucky Cricketer. A famous professional player seems to have lost his bat or was it stolen? He keeps losing matches and while Basil and Ginger are watching one of his matches, things go wrong and he loses the match for his team with his seemingly inept play. That was the last straw, he decides he can no longer play until his bat is found and seeks out Basil and Ginger to as for Ginger investigate and find his bat. With lots of twists and turns we are taken on the journey with Ginger, Felicity and Boss! I was surprised by the ending. The author is adept at keeping you guessing right to the end and her Lady Gold Investigates series does that as well as her Lady Gold series and her spin-off series as well as all her other series. This is an author that you will love with each book you read! I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Time and again

Ginger Reed continues to garner acclaim for her sleuthing skills with her business, Lady Gold Investigations. The first case brings a well known film star who doesn't quite know where he's been. In the second case, Ginger learns a bit too much about Basil's favourite cricket player.
These are short reads, just enough to keep fans going until the next full length novel. While it helps to know the backstories, these novellas are a good introduction to the Ginger Gold novels. Lee Strauss also writes an ongoing Ginger Gold journal on her website chronicling Ginger's life in Boston before WWI. Well worth signing up to read

I really enjoy the Lady Gold Investigates spin-off from the original series. Containing two short cases each, they are perfect for an evening read.

In this volume Ginger Gold and her sister-in-law Felicia take on the cases of an actor who claims to be having bouts of amnesia and a cricketer who claims his lucky bat has been stolen.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily am providing a review.

I’ve been enjoying these volumes of short stories accompanying the Ginger Gold series and this one was no exception. I fact, in my opinion, The Case of the Missing Time is the best story of them all. It drew me in from the first sentence and had me guessing right the way through as the authors deliver a different type of tale, drawing on an interesting piece of history. The Case of the Unlucky Cricketer is also a good read and a complete contrast to its companion.

As always, the characters are delightful, and I’ve particularly enjoyed seeing more of and getting to know Felicia better in this series. She’s such great fun and, at last, is possibly growing up a bit. Maybe… The mystery characters are also, as always, a varied bunch with some of them being very likeable and some of them not. There are plenty of little humorous incidents dotted through the stories as well as some rather poignant moments. Well done Team Strauss on another successful volume of short stories. Maybe there’ll be more in the future?

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the authors. All the above opinions are my own.

Ginger Reed and Felicia Gold, and of course the Boston terrier, Boss, team up again for two new adventures in Volume #3.
Always a delightful read, Ginger and Felicia find themselves in the middle of two new intrigues!
A man that looses time and a man with a gambling addiction.
Lee always drafts her stories with interest and mystery.
As always I would recommend this short story series as well as any of her full length series!

Format: Kindle Edition
Two cosy but fascinating little mysteries to be solved by Lady Gold and her 'support team'. As always it is a pleasure to follow Ginger as she untangles the threads and saves the day. Read as a free ARC but this review is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Light and entertaining read

Lee Strauss cozy mysteries are perfect for an evening read. Light and entertaining they never fail. This volume was no exception.

Both cases were good reading and Boss was Boss. I found out Boss loves bacon. The elderly aunt was funny, she had her case packed waiting for the police to arrive. I was surprised at the other story about the missing bat, I never suspected It would turn out the way it did.
I would recommend this book it is a delightful read and I think you will enjoy it.

Thanks to Lee Strauss for allowing me to read and review an advance copy of her book
