In his attempt to seduce her at every turn, Dominick finds himself rapidly losing his heart. However, winning Calliope’s in return will prove difficult. With the true target of Calliope’s efforts taking notice, he now has competition. When a past misdeed threatens to ruin everything, Dominick is left with no other choice. This is the third book in the Gentleman Courtesans series which began when a handful of down-on-their-luck gentlemen (many of whom were rakes and gamblers) found themselves in financial difficulty (a few of whom were cut off by fed up fathers) and decided to make money the old fashioned way. After all, their bedroom skills are the reason many are notorious rakes to begin with, and there are certainly women of means who require certain services... why deprive them of what gentlemen take for granted with mistresses?

Mr. Dominick ("Nick") Burke, the third son of an earl, was deemed unnecessary by his father at birth as he already had the heir and a spare to groom and cultivate; thus, he spent most of his youth honing his skills as a lover and losing money in his overzealous gambling. As such, his father cut off his allowance long ago, and in need of funds, Nick signed on with his long-time friend Benedict to serve as his go-to for any women in need of a skilled man to satisfy their every sexual need, including his specialty: dirty talk.

Miss Calliope Barrington has been on the fringe of society since her father reluctantly accepted the role of Viscount after the unexpected death of his older brother and returned from his station in India with his daughter from his first marriage to a Bengali beauty who had recently passed away along with his newborn son. As Calliope is of mixed descent, even though she is legitimate, she is barely tolerated by either culture, so she has been very aware of her conduct in public and strictly adheres to all of the "rules," stifling her passionate nature. Her younger sister, the product of her father's second marriage, is the prototypical English rose with her blonde hair and blue eyes, and she won the hand of an earl in her first season. Black haired, dark eyed, tan skinned Calliope has been living with her sister and her new husband, but she knows that they will want to begin a family, so she must find a husband for herself, or she will be forced to live with her father and his ancient, judgmental, spinster aunts. When the most recent man courting her proposes, not marriage as she expected, but for him to become her protector, Calliope has had enough. Despite her reputed large dowry, after three seasons, all she has been offered are mistress opportunities, and she is desperate. There is one man she has always favored: Mr. Lewes, a handsome, seemingly smart and kind man who is in line for a viscountcy down the line. But he does not appear to be in any hurry to settle down, and to date, he has only ever been polite to Calliope. But he is good friends with her new brother-in-law, and when Calliope's sister suggests the scandalous idea of hiring competition in the form of a gentleman courtesan to get Mr. Lewes to declare his intentions, she reluctantly agrees.

When Nick first meets Calliope, he is floored - she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen, and fucking her would be no hardship at all... as he says to her directly. Calliope is equal parts horrified and affected by the very handsome man she is considering to be her decoy suitor. It takes some quick talking, but Nick is able to convince Calliope that he's the man for the job. Unfortunately, it seems he is perhaps too good at the faux suitor role as Mr. Lewes immediately ratchets up his game in pursuit of the beautiful (and wealthy!) Calliope. Before long, Nick realizes the strange reaction he is having when Lewes is near his client is jealousy - a feeling he has zero experience with when it comes to women. But can he tame his rakehell and gambling ways? If he can, will Calliope ever accept a man with such... experience... as a man she could actually marry? And where does that leave Mr. Lewes, the man she believes would be the ideal husband?

What I liked:
--- Both MCs were very likeable in their own ways
--- There was more depth to Nick's character than I would have originally thought, and it made me more interested in seeing him get his HEA
--- STEAMY GOODNESS (once we FINALLY got there)

What I didn't like as much:
--- While I liked Calliope overall, she was a little too worried about societal reactions for someone whose father could care less about them and whose sister was happily settled - it was a little frustrating to see her overly resist her own nature and put Nick off because of his former occupation when he was the son of an earl and she didn't have any outside issues to worry about
--- HOLY SLOW BURN --- it took AWHILE to get there and then some, which was a little frustrating for me in an "erotic romance;" though once it "got there," it made up for a little of the lost time ;)
--- There were a couple of times where I thought the story dragged a little

Overall, a slow burn historical romance with more character depth than I originally expected, a solid story, and a satisfying HEA.

As a note, I received an advance copy of this book from Booksprout in exchange for my honest review.

Plot --- 4.25/5
Main Characters --- 4/5
Supporting Cast --- 4/5
Steam Level* --- 4/5 (once it got there)
Violence --- negligent (there was an altercation between the 2 men - nothing major or graphic)
Language --- not egregious
POV --- 3rd

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild; 2/5 - sensual but nothing descriptive; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere; 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory) ; 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all!

As the third son of an earl, the Honourable Mr. Dominick Burke has lived a life of luxury, up until his father, frustrated with his lavish spending habits, cut him off. Now to rebuild funds lost to his penchant for gambling, Nick earns his money as a courtesan, work he thoroughly enjoys. His desire for his latest keeper is immediate. Unfortunately for him, Miss Calliope Barrington only wishes for him to publicly court her in an attempt to catalyze her preferred suitor into proposing.

Dominick is more than up to the task, but the more time he spends with Calliope, the more he begins to develop real feelings for her. At the same time, Calliope's true intended groom begins to take notice of her as a marriage prospect and Dominick must gird himself for real competition. But Dominick's scandalous past threatens his present and future happiness and to win Calliope for good, he'll have to create an even greater scandal.

I really enjoyed this book and loved Dominick as a hero. His past does make him a hard sell, but he did so much growing and maturing over the course of this book and that was lovely to see. I really enjoyed the fact that Calliope was not the typical English rose and had to cope with issues most don't face. However, her behavior is the reason this is only 4 and not 5 stars for me. [This could get a bit spoilerish]. Her unwillingness to just listen to her heart and fight for what she wanted and knew would make her happy, all for the sake of pleasing others who she obviously knows care nothing for her, was problematic for me. She created many of the obstacles standing between her and Dominick in her own mind and would've been happy to condemn them both to misery if he hadn't stepped up, yet again. I would've liked to see more commitment and risk taking from Calliope rather than even more hurt for Dominick who has always had to struggle with feeling like an unwanted afterthought. Nonetheless, I still did very much enjoy this book and look forward to David's and Benedict's stories.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Blog link: https://mustreadalltheromance.blogspo...

I am so lucky, this is such a well written Regency Romance!! I received this ARC for an honest review.
Check out the music on Spotify for this hot book 😍🔥

I have read just about all of Victoria Vale's books. She never disappoints her readers.
This was another Gentleman Courtesans book that I have been anticipating. Mr. Dominick Burke is known as a gorgeous, shameless rake, and a scoundrel. He has a new ‘assignment-contract’, but, this particular contract is different from his others, in that he is not going to be paid for sex.
The beautiful heiress Miss. Calliope Barrington hired him to help her find and attract the attentions of prospective husbands. In doing so, Nick finds himself falling for the beautiful Calliope.
Miss. Calliope does not take him serious because of his reputation. He is determined to win her for himself, and ohh the things he says and does to her!!!
Miss. Vale never fails in writing a great storyline, with attention to details, she brings a delicious plot to her books to life! Oh, and her characters, I love Calliope half younger sister Lady Diana! She is just as feisty as Callie!
I knew I was going to love Nick's story!! To see him, with an emotional past, but living up to his reputation, and then falling for Callie! This is an steamy, emotional, funny and such a beautiful love story. I loved this book so much, I took my time reading it.

💋💋💋

If anyone was going to make the biggest scandal in history it was going to be Mr Dominick Burke , Rake, Gambler and Courtesan.
Where he finds himself is not where he wanted to be , but he makes the best of his life, doing what others expect of him.
Debauchery , no problem
Dirty talking, he’s your man
Upsetting his father , got that covered.

Then he meets Calliope , she’s perfect , he’s never seen a woman who floors him.
Now he’s met his match.
She’s of mixed race and believes that is why she can’t land a husband .

She hires Nick to make her current date jealous, therefore bringing him up to scratch.
This is where things start to go wrong, and she ends up fighting off Nick too.

Excellent book , funny , heartbreaking, tense and satisfying to read , I loved the whole thing.
Now can’t wait for David and Benedict’s books .

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

In this one, heroine needs skilletting. She was the cruel one but the pain and angst at the end made me rate it 3,5 stars.

another great gentleman courtesan. Dominick is that bad boy you just cannot help but ❤️ Calliope is a strong character whose Indian mother makes her an outsider with her own kin. I cried a lot through this story from the intensity. Dominick is one of those that goes all the way with declarations when he finally makes up his mind. He does a lot dirty talking and is fairly outrageous . But couple do not see real action till later. Too much f word detracted from historical romance aspects.

I just finished the ARC of this book the other day. Why did it take me so long to write the review, you ask? Because, typical of Victoria Vale, this book isn't any ordinary Regency Romance. This book has more chemistry in its pages than Bill Nye the Science Guy could ever dream up in his lab. Holy Moly, this thing is hot ... suggestive ... the hero has a filthy mouth ... the heroine is so gorgeously sexy that I can't stand it ... and the story of this book ROCKS!! I should by now, never expect just a normal Regency Smut Romance out of this woman. I should know that if I wanted sex served up with my romance, I could turn to her. But I should also know that she creates MEN in her books who would melt the panties off the most prudish of the Ton.

And melt the panties she did with this one. Dominick is one of the original Gentlemen Courtesans, as such, his "keepers" pay him for providing them with sex, plain and simple. Dominick has never, ever considered that he would actually fall in love with someone and want them more than he wants life itself. Enter Calliope, yes, named after the Greek Muse who presides over eloquence and poetry. This woman, in this book, SO fits that description. And Nick is head over heels. Unfortunately, not all is well in the Calliope/Nick affair, since he was never hired to provide her with anything other than an escort to make yet another man jealous and force him to propose.

I loved this book - it had more twists and turns than the road up Pike's Peak. And it brought the Gentlemen Courtesans together again, so we got to see them all, and see what they've been doing.

If you read this book, and I think you should, you will laugh, giggle, cry, laugh some more, and cry really happy tears at the end. Promise. This book pulled more emotion out of me than my mother's clothing choices for me in the third grade, er, maybe you don't want to hear about that. Either way, you need to read this book. No matter how high your expectations for Regency steam, Victoria Vale's Making of a Scandal, will surpass them.

Best line in the entire book? Kat Ryker says it was "Oh ... I see." lol

I love this author’s storytelling skills! I found her by accident late last year and managed to devour almost her entire Scandalous Ballroom Encounters Series in less than a month!

I found Making a Scandal again by accident just a few weeks ago and now I’m all caught up with this series and it is just glorious deliciousness!!

So, Calliope decides to hire Dominick to make her current suitor jealous and hurry up and ask her to marry him … because that always works out and never backfires LOL Let the delectably glorious games begin!

I loved the maturity Calliope had, she’s my favorite type of heroine to read about in historical/regency romance fiction and the growth and development of Dominick throughout the story. It enhanced the story and added depth to what was already such a beautiful journey. GAH, these two were just decadently delicious!!

I'm not going to lie Victoria Vale had me going nuts for the slow burn that was Nick and Calliope's desire for each other to boil over. Many of Ms. Vale's jump right to the sexy action so this story is unlike her other books in that way. It's more in line with Her Beautiful Bastard unlike Bastard where the main characters know they love and want each other but can't be do to their circumstances Nick and Calliope initially don't realize their feelings for each other. They are fairly quick to recognize attraction but the acknowledgement of love comes later. Like many of Ms. Vale's characters there were moments I wanted to shake both Calliope and Nick for being so blind and stubborn. Yet at the same time you very much feel for them and their insecurities. I absolutely loved that there was a minority heroine. Calliope's struggle to be accepted in British society while being half Indian is something that happened but is rarely talked about in historical books with fiction or nonfiction. Like many people Calliope dealt with racism, small mindness, and hateful actions of others. Like many people she found fault in herself and not others. This is something that very much resonates with me as a woman and as a friend of people of different races, religions, ethicnities. Often it's easier to blame ourselves. And often are friends and family don't realize how hard it is to find your self worth in the face of negativity. Victoria Vale's writing as always was on point. Nick has such a very dirty mind and mouth but he also has such a wonderful heart. It was a wonderful twist to see a rake boxed into a situation where he couldn't use sex to advantage although he tries. I am, of course, waiting impatiently for David and Benedict's stories. Who is the mystery women writing the gossip column? Will she destroy all the courtesans? This is such a good series! Every book including this one has been a five star read.! Plus Victoria Vale writes fast, so you won't be waiting years for the rest of the series. How she writes so quickly and with such quality is one of life's greatest mysteries.

This is the third book in the series & yes it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it, I'd recommend reading the whole series. I absolutely adored Dominick such a complex character who appears to be the gambling rake but is so much more, I also loved Calliope who felt that she was the square peg trying to fit in the round hole together they were electric. I was also taken on a plethora of emotions from laughing out loud to crying. A beautifully written book with stunning characters & a pace that kept me glued to my kindle. It isn't a short book but I didn't want it to end as I found it to be totally enthralling & one of the best books I've read this year

This did take me a little while to get into this book, usually with Victoria’s books, I’m hooked from the first page, but once I got into it, I did enjoy this story. I think the main reason was I didn’t take to Calliope. I know she had her problems but not to have the courage to follow her heart and then to act as she did when betrothed, really did it for me. I did like Nick, he also had problems but with his father rather than society. There was much more to Nick than he showed to society. I loved the way all the courtesans were there for one another. I am looking forward to reading about David’s story. I received a copy via Booksprout and have voluntarily reviewed it. However, I did preorder my own copy.

I don’t understand why more of the historical smut readers are not reading this book and series. I say smut in the true romancelandia way, it’s that space between romance and erotica where the romantic but steamy live.

Nick is your new book boyfriend. Obviously the heroes of this entire series are literal man whores but none more than Nick. He had me hooked when his nieces and nephews climbed all over him before he fought off tears when he found out his favorite uncle was terminal. This man was deep feels and dirty talk.

Callie, our heroine, is a half Bengali daughter of a lord who does everything carefully to be accepted in society. She hires Nick to pursue her to make her more enticing to her potential husband.

This was a slow burn but I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to pull an all-nighter like I did in high school to finish it. I’m off to download the rest of the series because Ms Vale is doing something right. This book would be on my regular reread rotation if I had time to reread anything.

Making of a Scandal by Victoria Vale is book three in her “The Gentleman Courtesans” series. What rock have I been hiding under that I missed the beginning of this deliciously different regency series? You can be sure I am going back to read the first two!

Who can resist a sexy, dirty talking rake? Not me…. Especially when said rake tells you that you make him want to be a better person and change his ways. I for one am seriously swooning and have to admit that I am totally smitten with Dominick. I am guilty of having a soft spot for a bad boy that means well.

Dominick Burke has never really been highly regarded by his father as he is a third son, therefore impressing him is not on his list of things to do. His lack of self- worth is responsible for some of his choices in life.

Calliope Barrington is ever vigilant regarding her reputation. She is born of mixed heritage and knows that the ton is just waiting to pounce on any perceived misstep on her part. Even so, she decides to take a chance and hire Dominick as an escort in order to give the gentleman she is interested in a kick in the pants, so to speak.

While their initial meeting is laugh out loud funny, what follows is a story about having the courage and trust in each other to reach for that HEA. The heart-wrenching raw emotion between Dominick and Calliope at times made me stop to catch my breath. You cannot help but root for this couple.

Anyone looking to have all their emotional buttons pushed will enjoy this book. I laughed, cried, got mad and cheered for this couple. You will too.

Calliope Barrington, born to a Bengali mother and English earl, has had to walk a straight and narrow path so that the ton accepts her. But it is not working, men court her and then offer for her but not to become their wife. She has set her hat on a certain man, Martin Lewes, but as much as they are thrown together he still shows no sign of liking her in a romantic way much less proposing to her. So she hires Dominick Burke, third son of an earl and a concealed courtesan known for his sexual prowess, to “fake” court her so that Martin will propose. The ton knows Dominick as a rakish gambler. He has bedded many women trying to pay off his debts and make his way in the world. He soon finds out that Calliope is unlike any other woman who has contracted his services and this will lead him on an entirely different path in life.

Wow, this story is spicy hot! But I also found my heart soaring at their feelings for each other and then it shredding to pieces as Calliope tried to figure out if she wanted to marry a safe, dull man or a filthy talking, passionate one. Then there were the moments that were so heart wrenchingly sweet they made me melt like butter. So far this is my favorite book in the Gentleman Courtesan series. Dominick arrived at the time I needed him most, lol! I am eager to see what will happen with David, but also Benedict and the mysterious London Gossip?? I received an ARC of this book and chose to post my review.

WOW!!

Dominick is a very handsome, charming and willing to please in any way possible courtesan. He has sworn never to fall in love or to even consider the thought of marriage. Belonging to an organization of male courtesans he is considered to be the best at his profession and who never leaves a women unsatisfied. Dominick also has been scorned by his family and harbors underlying sadness and loss at not being recognized by his family due to being the third son and choice of profession.

Calliope a beautiful woman of English and East Indian parentage has never been considered marriage material by the ton. Several men have wanted her but only for a night. Calliope finally decides Martin Lewes, a friend of her brother-in-law, who shows interest beyond the bedroom feels he is the one for her. In order to push him toward a betrothal she hires Dominick to escort her to various functions and to be seen in public with in order to make Lewes jealous.

While spending time together, flames soon ignite between Nick and Calliope. Their story is steamy and makes for one luscious read. Victoria never fails to disappoint and delivers another steamy, exciting and heart wrenching story that you can't put down. I highly recommend this book!

Dirty talking Dominick (Nick) longtime friend of Benedict and fellow courtesan, is hired by Calliope, the half-Bengali half English daughter of a Viscount, to help her bring a suitor up to scratch by posing as competition for her hand. Of course they fall for each other, as is the trend with this series, but the road to their HEA is littered with potholes and speed bumps. I won’t give spoilers, but I can say that both Nick and Calliope are engaging and complex characters and their story is as much of a page turner as the previous books in this series.

Disclosures: Nick doesn’t just talk dirty, he does the dirty. Because this is a Victoria Vale book. No kink or abuse though. Also, don’t start with this book—this is the 4th book of the series and you really need to start at the beginning with Tempting the Bluestocking, which has the setup for the whole series explained in it. This one assumes you know the deal.

Also: the next one isn’t promised until August, damn it, and that’s STILL not going to be Benedict’s story. A few more clues to Benedict’s situation are here, but definitely not enough.

I was lucky enough to get to read an ARC and enjoyed the heck out of it.

CW:

Unfortunately, due to being busy I didn't make any notes or write a full review about this book in time, and now I don't remember all the specifics that made me enjoy this one so much.

Still, what stuck in my mind as absolutely incredible was the very first time the main couple made love (at that point both of them were down bad for each other, so it wasn’t just sex).

Victoria Vale's unquestionable talent for writing incredibly sensual and romantic sex scenes shines so incredibly brightly during Calliope and Dominick's first time.

The scene was so beautiful – soft, intimate, and amazingly erotic. I've said it before, but heroes in this series tend to be very tactile – they love to touch and caress the heroines in the most sensual ways. Dominick was no different! There are so many lovely kisses and touches he shares with Calliope.

What’s makes the scene even more lovely is the fact, that Dominick seems to be the most hedonistic (so far) hero in the series – his focus is solely on pleasure (given and received), and his care for his clients appears mostly surface level. But he was so gentle and considerate with Callie; so absolutely in-tune with her needs and doubts.

It fits his overdramatic nature, but was still a great character development.

Yowza! Prepare to bring smelling salts and tissue as this one will bring out the range of emotions! Nick Burke usually wasn't hired just to make other men jealous of the lady he was with... Heck the ladies usually didn't care about other men when they were with him! But that is just what Miss Calliope Barrington requested. Just be her escort around London and hopefully the man she is focused on for marriage will pay attention.
But everything is not as it seems and these two have a lot of things in common, both being shunned by society at times and the past being well hidden for Nick.
What happens will keep you glued to the pages and anxious to see the outcome. A very entertaining story with that will, as I said in the beginning stir up a lot of feelings! Great!

This is a great read! The 4th in the series, I was surprised at how original it was from.all.the others. I didn't know how Victoria could make this an original story, due to the entire series detailing the lives of gentleman courteseans, but she did! In marvelous fashion. Every time I think the next book in the series will be in no way as good as the last, she surprises me with another wonderful book.

I love the characters in this story, Callie and Nick, they are dear to me on personal level and I can relate to the struggles in this/their relationship. This one gave me all the feels! This book has it all....steam, love, angst, humor, etc...I loved everything about it. I highly re commend this book.

This is a fun read and full of heat and unexpected events. The irony of the sexiest and most sought after for his sexual prowess courtesan being hired not to demonstrate that prowess but rather to make someone else jealous is the premise of this story. A rake with a serious gambling addiction, cut off by his father and with no prospects, Dominick’s fortunes change dramatically when he is hired by Calliope to make the man she thinks she wants to marry to step up. Little did either of them know that Dominick would change his ways, become the heir to his Uncle’s fortune and to cap it all, fall in love. They say the course of true love never runs smooth and it certainly doesn’t for Dominick and Calliope but there is a happy ending.

4 1/2 Stars! Book three in The Gentleman Courtesans series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone. Each book will follow a different courtesan with secondary characters the same throughout. Told in dual POV with HEA. The characters have well developed back stories. The drama/angst was so understandable, but heartfelt with Calliope & Dominick. The epilogue sets up the next in the series. I highly recommend to anyone who loves steamy historical romance!

I adore bad boy Dominic Burke!!! He has met his match when Calliope Barrington takes up his contract. She is single minded in her pursuit of a husband and refuses to be sidetracked. I certainly understand her misgivings regarding Nick's lifestyle, but he is so alluring and funny. I love his inappropriate use of earthy anglo saxon swear words and dirty sex talk. I totally recommend this romance for those who like spice. I would also suggest reading the previous Gentleman Courtesans, as the relationship between the gentlemen is amusing and informative.

I think I've found my new favorite couple of all the books written by Ms Vale.

Nick was the one courtesan that Benedict thought he would never have to worry about losing his heart to a client. Then Nick met Calliope and that was the end of that. I think I've found my newest book boyfriend because, dang I love a bad boy.

I received an ARC copy from Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

Fans of Ms. Vale have been patiently waiting for the release of the next Gentleman Courtesans book and we have not been disappointed! The character-building and sexual tension between Nick and Calliope is through the roof. I love a good scandal and HEA. I highly recommend this book as well as all others by this author.

Calliope hires a Gentleman Courtesan to make the man she wants as her husband, jealous and Nick is the perfect one for the job. He has gambling debt to pay and he finds Calliope captivating. What will happen when sparks begin to fly between them? Will her plan work or will she choose to be with Nick instead? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, steam and emotion. Great characters, hot chemistry and an entertaining story. I liked it.

Making of A Scandal – The Gentleman Courtesans – Book 3 – Victoria Vale

The Honorable Mr. Dominick (Nick) Burke and Miss Calliope Barrington have entered into an agreement where Nick will escort Calliope around London in order to try to make The Honorable Mr. Martin Lewes come up to snuff and ask for her hand in marriage.

That being said, as time goes by one wonders, is Martin Lewes really the man Calliope wants to marry? Could Nick Burke really be the man she truly wants?

Nick is not open with his past and there are a very few who know how Nick’s life has not always been a positive one for him. Nick is a man who can make a lady blush, he is well known, sexy, handsome, has the mouth of, no a mouth worse than a sailor and a well earned reputation as a “Rake amongst rakes.” It is his insecurities that few people see that shapes how Nick really sees himself.

Miss Calliope Barrington, has also had to deal with the blatant disrespect of the Ton, outright prejudice that has been shown to her father (who is a Viscount) and herself because of who her mother was (an Bengali Royalty)

Victoria Vale has told this story so well you are there in the small room the night Nick meets Calliope. You are with them each time they meet, you are part of this story because she is able to create two people who come to find the best in each other and by finding the best have found the one person who sees them for the wonderful human they are.

I love reading Victoria Vale’s books. She brings together characters that are real, who suffer and feel the emotions that any of us feel. She brings into each story the history of England and who and what was acceptable and not acceptable. She uses words and phrases that draw you in page after page while allowing you to live along with each character in her books. Vale gives us characters who when they find their way and their love and have reached their happily ever after, know that no matter what they have friends and family who are their supporters.

I felt for Nick and Calliope in this book and my feelings for them were feelings of understanding. I understood exactly what 1819 was like for them because time hasn’t changed since then in some cases it is worse. This could have been my daughters who would have faced this same issue then. This was personal.

The emotions and events that take place in this book take the reader on a rollercoaster ride. Beginning with Nick’s more than colourful language, there is self doubt, prejudice, intolerance, secrets, the passing of a very special person, fights, a duel and just when you think all might work out there is a note delivered that potentially can blow the Courtesans completely into total havoc!

Victoria Vale has given not just a 5 star story but a view of a time and place where fairy tales are no match for reality.

I feel honored to have an advancer reader copy of this book. In my opinion this is one of Victoria Vale’s best books.

Making of a Scandal by Victoria Vale is fantastic. I've loved all of her books to date, and this one does not break the streak. If anything, it is making me chomp at the bit for the last two stories.

Dominick is a sweetheart, and it doesn't take long for the reader to 'get' him. Foul-mouthed, sexy as all get out, he thinks his only worth is what people are willing to pay him. I just wanted to curl him up in my arms and tell him he's worth more.

Calliope is fantastic. A woman of color(!!!!), one of the very few I've ever read in my many years of devouring Historical Romances. And she's amazing. Well rounded, also held back by her own preconceptions of herself. When the two of them meet, I laughed out loud at both of them.

The story is well written, the sex is steamy hot. It will make you smile, laugh, gasp, and cry. It also made me crave the rest of Benedict's story. He's always played a supporting character and I fell in love with him more and more throughout the story. David and Benedict's will finish this series, but then what? Please give us more of the Courtesans!

I plan on rereading many many times.

Great

I cannot wait for the final book. I have theory of who. This book was roller coaster ride. I was anxiously trying to get the good ending. As the old saying goes no good deed goes unpunished.

I needed the dirty talk that he was supposed to be know for. I didn’t want a story where she resisted so much.
