Instead of pursuing my original career plans as a newspaper journalist, I fell into television (hint: met a guy), and ended up building a highly successful career as a freelance television editor with the global networks including ABC, NBC, CNN, and BBC.
Unfortunately both career success and a socially equitable marriage to Mr. Right failed to lead to happiness or answers to life's perennial questions. At age 30 I took the only other road available in life: within.
While freelancing around the globe from Atlanta, I explored everything from Christian mysticism to Zen Buddhism, yoga to Chi Gung, quantum physics to hands-on healing. Fascinated by the mind and human potential, in 1984 I went back to school, graduating with a Master of Humanistic Psychology Degree from the University of West Georgia in Carrollton.
Soon after graduation and I left television and husband #2 (agh!) to live in the middle of nowhere in a one-room 100-year-old stone cabin in the North Georgia mountains near Gainesville. With no worldly distractions, I spent three years meditating, writing magazine articles nobody wanted to buy, playing the harp and writing music. I also started work as a feature reporter at The Times, a Gannett newspaper in North Atlanta.
Moving near Olympia, Washington in the Pacific Northwest in 1989, I continued working as a freelance journalist for newspapers such as The Seattle Post-Intelligencer and The Tacoma News Tribune. In 1999 I got hired as the Northwest editor and bureau chief for the national Native American newspaper, Indian Country Today.
Eventually I moved into marketing in 2004, working with the filmmakers of the international indie hit film What the Bleep Do We Know?!, publishing the film’s online newsletter, The Bleeping Herald, writing articles about consciousness and breakthroughs in quantum physics that were leading scientists to a new understanding of mysticism and a unified cosmos.
In 2007 what can only be called a 3-day enlightenment experience occurred, shattering everything. For the second time I dropped career and all my personal endeavors, leaving the US to travel extensively in Central and South America, studying with ayahuasceros deep in the Amazon in Peru and with shamans in the Andes of Ecuador.
In June 2009 I returned to the United States to work with Hollywood filmmaker Betsy Chasse writing the screenplay Killing Buddha. Although disenchanted with spiritual teachers, at this time I also met my guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev from Coimbatore, India. From Sadhguru I learned ancient yogic kriyas (energy processes), traveling to his ashram in South India to study and participate in a yogic alchemical consecration of a lingam dedicated to the Goddess.
Returning to the states in March 2010, I started writing Unearthing Venus - My Search For the Woman Within. I also co-authored the book The Heart of the Matter: Gifts in Strange Wrapping Paper for Hay House Publishing with Dr. Darren Weissman. I currently live in Washington State and am writing a sequel called Unearthing Shadows.

I am a total sucker for Greek inspired stories and set in Greece; don’t know why as I’ve never been. I am usually not a fan of insta-connections, however the chemistry between Kathryn and the stranger that we later find that is Apollo, it undeniable and the moment he reveals him I felt fluffy on the inside. One way of describing their connection is to think of it as an awakening, of a sharpening of senses and acceptance.
The writing is beautiful and immersive, I felt like I was transported with them, watching both Apollo and Kathryn grow as characters, learning. I also really appreciated that Kathryn that she was older than the average of the typical romance heroine.
I am not going to lie, I also love the fact that Kathryn is an author, I love reading about characters that have something to do with the writing world. I loved her insight and the way in which she looked upon the world and her sense of humor truly made me chuckle. The plot was character focused which is what I would’ve expected from this kind of story, but I am a fiend of faster paced novels and for me it was a bit slow.
Overall, I have enjoyed this book and gave it 3.5 stars.

Her blend of psychology, human consciousness, neurochemistry and quantum physics makes her an in demand inspirational speaker. Add to these aspects an extraordinary sense of humor and the result is an author who succeeds on every plane onto which she steps.
Along with her fine books of a scientific nature, Cate now adds a novel that celebrates her philosophy of life while adding a much needed dimension - the status of the aging population’s abilities and dreams - and out comes APOLLO & ME. I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I love mythology and I have to take times to breathe will reading this. There were times I wants to scream and yell and then other times I would just sigh sweetly. It is one of best put together romances that I have read in some time. It made me feel good and Apollo and Kathryn have eternal relationship and I would read so much more.

This was my first read by this author and I was not quite sure what to expect. Cate Montana brings us the story of writer Kathryn Adams and her story of self-discovery while on respite on a Greek island. After living through an abysmal book signing day thanks to a blizzard our heroine is a bit dismayed and unclear of her next direction and a bit lonely. During her time away she meets a man who she feels an immediate and overwhelming connection. What she doesn't realize at the time is that they have met before. Once the man who reveals himself to be Apollo, yes that Apollo, she is faced with the reality of uncovering her inner Goddess and the reason the Greek God approached her.
This meeting and "friendship" awakens Kathryn sexually, emotionally and spiritually on levels she had no idea existed. One line during this time resonated with me as a "seasoned woman". Kathryn states that she is ".....old enough to know that sexual attraction offers false promise and no safety whatsoever." When many of our own desires are awakened without a viable serious outlet, we turn to what or who is easy and that choice provides no real comfort to us in the long run, but I digress.
Apollo shares his memories of his love Polymnia with Kathryn. He relays his feelings of love and despair in knowing that his love was to be harmed and not being able to save her from the pain. For me, this is where Kathryn's true journey of self-discovery begins. The author tells Kathryn and Apollo's story with descriptive language that takes you along each stroll through. each dinner that was prepared and each test Kathryn had to go through. When Apollo's true reason for finding her now comes to light, you feel the passion, love, and anger that bounces between the two, just as you feel the acceptance when Kathryn realizes what she must do.
This story will appeal to readers who want to be reminded that we each come with inner an inner Goddess as you take the leisurely stroll of redemption, reincarnation, and love as they work towards saving humanity from the evil that lurks.“To the Goddess within us all. Brilliant - I couldn't put it down! I could describe it as sexy, romantic and raw but it is so much more than that: it pulls the reader along into a fascinating creation story, where the female goddess is alive and where the male strength and beauty returns to his right honourable place. And all of this is set in an eternal landscape of Greek history and the country's fascinating natural beauty. To me it means a lot that the book speaks of long lasting friendships - as much as it travels through time and quantum space. A master piece - and as picky as I am with visuals/movies but I do hope that this will be a movie one day. In the meantime I hope as many change makers, visionaries, divine feminines and awakened masculines get a good thorough read of this.

This was worth the read. I enjoyed the different unpacking of our world history and angles of spirituality it explored. Most definitely prefer it to the nonsense we're expected to believe is the truth.
