Liked the title and concept. Did not care for the story or weird pacing in the verse.

I'm ambivalent about this one but my 5 year old thinks it's pretty great. He refuses to accept that the the jam is not blood though so maybe he's missing the point.

What a super cute book! Loved the rhymes and illustrations. Since I do not like jelly donuts, we will never have to worry about a jampire invasions, and I'm a little sad abou that.

Book #1 for The Reading Rush Completed! Fulfills challenge of reading a book with a Non-human protagonist. This was really cute, and fun. Also, Sarah McIntyre is the sweetest.

як і серединожер, джемпіри не їдять м'ясного. та й джем, якщо судити з ілюстрацій, їм подобається лише червоний. це, звісно, додає атмосферності, але добряче обмежує меню.

Who took the jam out of your doughnut???

There’s nothing worse than biting into a jam doughnut only to find that someone forgot to to put the jam in, or even worse, someone has ‘sucked’ all of the jam out. This is exactly what happens to Sam and you can join him on his quest to discover who the jam thief is…

Jampires is a whimsical rhyming story about a young boy called Sam who is distraught when he bites into a delicious doughnut only to find that it is jam-less. Determined to catch the culprit he sets up a trap and stays up late into the night to uncover the identity of the thief. The thief, actually thieves, swiftly reveal themselves…it’s the JAMPIRES! Don’t worry these aren’t looking for blood…no, no…they’re after your jam! It isn’t long before Sam finds himself whisked away to a land full of jam and all manner of sweet treats. This strange and bizarre land is the home of the Jampires who simply love eating jam.

Mixed in amongst the doughnuts and the jam are messages of kindness and compassion as Sam helps the Vampires get home safely and in return they agree to no longer steal his jam.

This is not a ground breaking read but many children will enjoy this simple mystery story and meeting the cute Jampires. The rhyming prose and cartoons full of humour make for a sweet-treat of a read that is both sweet and silly.

Recommended for 4+.

The story takes the very British saying ‘Who took the jam out of your doughnut?’ And answers with a Jampire. Jampires suck the jam out of doughnuts and live in a magical sweetie world in the sky with jam tart flowers and castles of cake.
It’s silly, a bit naughty and the Magical world has the feel of the candy and chocolate landscape in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before Augustus Gloop gets overexcited.

This book was originally a purchase because of a family in-joke BUT it was THE best purchase because my girls absolutely ADORE this funny book and it has inspired much craft, ditty writing and storytelling that it is worth the purchase a thousand times over.

Cute, if you don't think about it too hard.

A boy discovers the jam has been sucked out of his donuts. He sets up a trap and catches two child jampires, which are of course vampires who eat jam. The jampires are lost and sad. The boy cheers them up, so they fly him back to jampire land. (I thought they were lost?) There's a magical land of jampires living in the clouds and making jam and jam products. The little jampires' parents are so thrilled with the boy for returning the kids (even though he didn't actually do anything) that they decide to provide him jam for life.

The art is pretty good. The writing is supposed to rhyme, I think, but the tempo changes every couple of pages.

Oh, what a delight, Jampires! :D
Listen, as an adult goth, it feels both hilarious and inevitable that I own three different copies of this masterpiece: the English original, a Ukrainian translation, and yet another version within a Ukrainian children’s poetry anthology (with totally different illustrations!). I’ve read all three, and I’m absolutely obsessed. The little story is so precious, the illustrations are fantastic and adorable, and OH MY GOD, you have no idea how many silly jokes my partner and I came up with. I mean - Interview with the Jampire?! And the sequel - Queen of the Jammed?! Come on. Pure gold for millennial cringe. I adore this.

Sam makes the shocking discovery that his donuts, once filled with the jammiest jam, are now all dried up! What is a boy to do when there is a jam thief on the loose?!

This book was very silly, but also quite enjoyable. Definitely perfect for small children, though I don't know that I would recommend for younger than 3 at the most. Probably better suited for 4-5 age group, depending on reading level by that time.

Has some rhyming schemes here and there, the colours are lovely and it was an interesting concept. Definitely a nice Halloween treat for kiddos, without being scary.

It was cute, but I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. Pretty much, someone is sucking out all of the jam from Sam's donuts...he sets a trap...and finds two young jampires. They take him to their home, even though they said before that they wandered too far (I was under the impression they were lost). As a thank you, the jampires bring fresh jam-stuffed donuts to Sam. It was kinda weird.

The two stars are for David O’Connell’s illustrations which were lovely and fun. The lacking three stars are for the prose. The entire book seems to have been written with the singular goal of making a joke about jammy dodgers, which not many people (especially children) will get. The rhyme and meter seems haphazard and half-hearted. Pass.

Story was quirky, and sometimes had a nice rhyme going. It wasn't a perfect story, but it was great for toddlers. I loved the artwork and overall the silliness of the jampires.
I would recommend for a quick bedtime story!
