This is the first book in this series that I have read. Many thanks to Voracious Readers Only for providing me with this free copy. First, I really enjoyed this supernatural mystery. I have long been infatuated with Louisiana which is where this story takes place, so it was lovely for me to read the descriptions of the surroundings, food, etc. Second, the characters were well written as were the relationships between the characters. Finally, even though this is #6 in a series, there was enough information in the book so that you could read it as a standalone.
I would be interested in reading more in this series.
I received a free copy from Voracious Readers on the condition I would give an honest review. I wish I had read some of the earlier books but even though I was missing some of the background I still found this an amazing book. A family with a gifted mother married to a policeman and both trying desperately to bring their gifted daughter up as a normal child. All this whilst trying to survive, literally. A well written, engrossing story. Brilliant characters hop in and out of the story. I loved this; very different. It has left me wanting to read more!
I enjoyed reading this book overall. The storyline was original and kept me hooked until the end with good use of the friction between different agencies, and also within them as well. My biggest criticism, and perhaps this is because I haven't read the other books in the series, was the focus on Ellie, despite her not really having anything to do with the main plot.
