I am an unapologetic romance lover. I read it. I write it. Enough said. Well..I also have a warrior way "Never give up on my dreams." I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese anime and playing video games with my love, Dusean.

3 steamy but safe ⭐️

Stacy Reid can write steam, if she were ever to write a little darker stories, Lord have mercy😂 Good Reads would melt and combust.

Emma had a terrible accident at 15, it left her severely injured and she has spent 10 years learning to walk again.
Elliot is her brother’s best friend. He has always loved Emma, he asked her to marry him 3 times while she was confined to a bed, and she refused him all three times.
He was hurt, she felt he deserved better than a wife with her handicap.
8 years of pride and self pity kept them apart.

One day Emma overhears a conversation, she hears that Elliot is looking for a wife and wants to settle down. She also hears that her father has found an old husband for her.
She doesn’t want the marriage, she loves Elliot, but feels he deserves better. She decides to seduce him at a masquerade and then travel to America to visit her sister. Well the seduction works and a steamy hook up commences.
She doesn’t think Elliot recognizes her, he does! He keeps pursuing, she keeps running. ❤️

Honestly this was a sweet story, but my least favorite Stacy Reid. If you read my reviews you know I LOVE HER. But this lacked feeling and angst. Emma was too self pitying and there was no real drama. Elliot is lovely though 🫶 I did however
need a little more plot.

Should you read it? Sure, it’s short and sweet and the steam is steaming. But it’s a palate cleanser not a big romance.

Elliot Winthrop, the Duke of Hartford has tried for 8 years to silence the desire and affection he has for Miss Emmaline (Emma) Fitzgeral, she refused his hand in marriage long ago, and he believes she feels nothing for him, but when he finds her in the most scandalous of places, looking for a night with him, filled with nothing a unwed lady should wish for, he realises that she is the only woman for him - now to persuade her.

There's a bit of back and forth in this read, as the heroine pushes the hero away on more than one occasion.

The hero in this - Elliot had me smiling in delight on more than one occasion, especially when he warned Emma's brother to treat her right and not force her into anything. I did want a little more oomph to the story, especially in the first half but still a enjoyable, short one time read.

Miss Emma Fitzgerald has every intention of taking control of her life, starting with a visit to her sister in Boston. But first, she’s determined to have one night of passion with the man she’s always loved but believes she can never have, her brother’s best friend Elliot Winthrop, now the Duke of Hartford.

She only meant to have one stolen night to make memories she could take with her, but for Elliot, it has always been Emma. There was no way he could not recognize her and he’s not about to let her go again, if he can just convince her of the genuineness of his feelings.

This book definitely needed to be this novella length; any longer and the heroine would’ve found a way to destroy her relationship with the hero again. I just found her incredibly annoying and her inner monologues repetitive. Elliot did nothing to make Emma think he wouldn’t want to be with her, even after her injury, and yet she insisted on pushing him away. Sure, he could’ve been more persistent in trying to be there for her, but she certainly didn’t make that easy for him. Given how much she doubted herself when she thought he’d given up on her, it doesn’t make much sense that she couldn’t therefore fathom how her rejection might make Elliot doubt himself too. It was just frustrating that she continued to push him away and then got mad when he actually did. Her doubt and refusal to consider what love really means was frustrating and I thought she was way too eager to be a martyr. Emma could only see her own emotions and hurt and probably thanks in part to her family’s overbearing coddling, she couldn’t see beyond herself to how her actions could hurt others. Elliot himself was rather flat as a character, but I did like that he stood up for Emma to his grandmother and kept pursuing her even when she and her brother, his supposed best friend, made that nearly impossible. I did like that there was plenty of steam here, I just wish it had made me feel the characters’ connection more so that I could overlook the things that annoyed me more than I did.

I loveee when the heroine devises a plan and executes it. Masquerade ball. Seduction. A hero that has been in love with the heroine for yearsss. The heroine has leg disfigurement from broken bones as a young child. This had amazing 🔥tension and s*x scenes. Stacy Reid always delivers. Short & sweet novella style.

The Duke and I is the second volume of the Forever Yours series written by Stacy Reid. This series includes different characters who are damaged or disabled.

This is a novella for ** MATURE AUDIENCES **

1. A daring moment of sin in a daring seduction

2. Blinded by anonymity and irresistible passion

3. Can there be a Happily Ever After?

Far be it for a lady to desire, hatch, and execute a daring seduction of a notorious duke at a masquerade ball. But Miss Emmaline Fitzgerald, a wallflower with no decent prospect, was on such a path, and her quarry was her brother's best friend, Elliot Winthrop, the Duke of Hartford.

One moment of sin, stolen pleasure and irresistible passion, that was all it was supposed to be…

Miss Emmaline Fitzgerald had never felt so alive and cherished before her exquisitely planned, one-time interlude beneath a mask designed to hide her identity.

Little did Emma realized everything about her was imprinted in Elliot’s heart and mind, and her scandalous ruse was about to change and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself and the devilish duke.

As soon as the princess exited her more than pleasant rendezvous, her brother immediately recognized her, even in disguise. He was furious about the hero's participation in the experience. But she begged him to leave it alone. Would he appease her request?

This novel concludes in a H.E.A. beyond the heroine's wildest dreams.

Naughtiness 4*

Utterly beautiful book, this beautiful story struck a very close to home chord with me, I very much connect with our heroine in regard our personal demons near enough match in what we go through, our Hero Elliott is a sweetheart and I adore him for the same situation.

Il not give spoilers I never do but I will say this, I literally read this beautiful book in one go, it is a roller coaster or heart break to heart warming with romance and added just the right amount of naughtiness.

Emma and Elliott are both heroes of this book in their own right, it also is a great book that proves loves is the best medicine and you have to trust it.

Thank you Stacy for writing this beautiful story and giving me the honour of reading it. ♥ 🤗 xxx

This book was sooooo cute. It has a heroine who has mobility issues due to an accident that has left her with a walking cane and trouble walking. She's promised to someone she despises so she decides to have one night of pleasure with her brother's best friend but little did she know, his feelings for her are not shallow and run very very deep. He will not let her slip away again...

An emotional read! I loved Emma she is a fearless young woman knowing that after her horrific accident she’s un marriageable she wanted one night with Elliot. Possibly the only chance she would have is the masquerade party she knew he’d be attending. This was her one chance at ever loving the man she’s loved forever.

Elliot has loved Emma even when he was a man with no title, and loved her after her accident. Didn’t understand why she pushed him away when he offered her marriage. His pride bruised he turned away until he sees her again after eight years and the love he had tried so hard to deny hit him full force.
Once he meets her at the masquerade he knows that they belong together and he’ll do everything in his power to make her his.
An amazing sensual story of second chances. A naughty treat of a book that will keep you loving the pages.
Stacy Reid has an amazing talent in writing emotional stories that grip your heart, always a pleasure to read her books.
I received a complimentary copy from the author for my unbiased opinion.

Miss Emmaline Fitzgerald is twenty five & used to enjoy life to the full until a curricle race left her badly injured & it was feared that she wouldn’t walk again but determination & strength of will allowed her to recover well enough to walk albeit with a stick. She’s also been in love with Elliot Winthrop the local doctor’s son but then Elliot finds that he’s the Duke of Hartford. So Emma plans a daring seduction of the notorious duke at a masquerade ball. One night of sin, stolen pleasure and irresistible passion, that was all it was supposed to be & left them both wanting more
A short novel that had me engrossed, the characters were well developed & the attraction between Elliot & Emma sizzled. However I loved that Emma had fought all odds to recover but was still afraid to live & it took Elliot to finally open her eyes. The ballroom scene had me welling up, his faith & love for her was so touching. I read this on a train journey & wanted my journey to be longer so that I could have finished it in one sitting!

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

Emma and Elliott. Steamy. Loved each other when Emma was just a teenager, but she was in a bad accident and refused his proposals of marriage the story basically starts eight years later. I really enjoyed the emotions that they felt for each other.

This was good! I didn't like it quite as much as book one but this was definitely still enjoyable. This was short and sweet, but still had really good romantic tension and sex scenes. There's a lot of tropes at play here. In this a brothers best friend and a sort of second chance romance as well. I really liked the way the hero treated the heroine. The dialogue was really great, just as in book one. It has the sort of romantic longing that I really love. I don't know when I'll continue this series but I enjoy these whenever I read them.

Emma and Elliot

A Love Story Interrupted

Young lovers were torn apart after one of the two was involved in a devastating curricle accident.

Can a scandalous house party rekindle their love or did it ever really die? This story delves into the trauma of changed circumstances on both sides coupled with love that endures time, space, absence and circumstances.

I enjoyed it.

I love when authors write about characters who are damaged or disabled. You may ask why in the world? Because I love to see them healed through love and devotion where they can be more than they ever thought to be! Such is the case with our heroine, Emma Fitzgerald who had an accident which affected her walking. She had been in love with Elliot Winthrop her brother's best friend forever but when he returned after being away, he became a Duke and she felt he was beyond her reach. Wanting to remove herself and go live with her sister, she was determined for one night with Elliott in secret. You see she was attending a masquerade ball and felt this would be her chance. What she does not know is Elliott's feelings for her.. An emotional story that will warm your heart and have to cheering for Emma and Elliot. Stacy Reid does it again!!

Beyond trite

Ok, so I wasn't expecting great literature, just a pleasant Recency romance. But I couldn't even finish this one. Grammatical errors, typos, and graphic, gratuitous sex scenes combined with bland stereotypes for characters and an entirely predictable plot left me cold. There are too many good books out there to waste my time on this one.

KU. Novella. HR. Trope: Regency, Disabled Main Character, First Love Second Time Around.
MC's h Emma 25, disabled, sister to Anthony and best friend to H Elliott Winthrop, Duke of H, Emma's childhood friend and first love.

Emma became friends with Elliott as a young girl when he spent time with her older brother Anthony. He taught her how to swim, fish, climb trees and fence and at the time he had no title. His father was the local doctor and estranged from his family as they didn't approve of his wife's low birth. He proposed twice when her family wouldn't approve when they were 18 and 21. Later he became the Duke when his grandmother came to find him. Emma had a carriage accident with her brother Anthony driving a curicle when they were racing. She was badly injured and thought never to walk again and never be able to have children. She was doted and coddled by her family. Her father had arranged a marriage to an older gentlemen but Emma wanted to go to America to visit her older sister in Boston instead and remain a spinster. Elliot came to visit and she overheard the conversation he had with her brother Anthony. He was going to look for a Duchess and settle down but before that he was going to this liscentious masquerade ball. She so wanted to be with him once so she went in a disguise with the intent to seduce him. She wanted this memory to last her a lifetime.

Emma Fitzgerald had been in a coach accident. Causing her to become crippled. Elliott Winthrop loved her and had asked to marry her many times. But was considered unsuitable because he was a doctors son with no fortune. After Elliott becomes Duke of Hartford he asks Emma again to be his wife. But she is so badly injured from the accident she say no once again. She did not want Elliott to be bound to a cripple.

Eight years late when Emma is now a Spinster at 25, she has taught herself to walk. With her inheritance she has decided to move to America. But Emma wants one night to have sex with the only man she has ever loved and wanted. She disguises herself and goes to a Masquerade Ball to seduce Elliott. They have hot heavy sex together.

This is a very short Novella and the entire Sexual scene takes up a lot of the story. I didn't know it was a novella but I got it on Kindle Unlimited. But I also, bought the audible edition. Narrator was very good but it was only 4 hours long. Which was not worth the cost of the audible. I also, am sick of spinster storylines. Elliot and Emma was separated way to long. Eight years is far to long to separate a couple.

It was a lovely novella about two lovers life has torn apart.
They loved another all their late teens, but an accident has left Emma deeply wounded close to impotent, why she refused his marriage proposal to not burden him with a crippled wife.
It took them years to rekindle, and only because Emma sought for one last moment with Elliot before traveling abroad.
Elliot never forgot his first and only love, even after she refused him, even when he came to his new status as a Duke but he left.
During this time, Emma fought for herself, determined to rewalk despite the doctors prognostics. It took time, lot of pain and during this period she found herself locked in a cage, golden but still a cage. Why she is looking for an escape road and stolen time with Elliot before it is too late.
Their encounter at the masquerade ball was steamy but sweet and tender too, sparks were flying between them, but they will need more than a moment of lust to comprehend what they sought in the other.
Their young love was not armed to face the difficulties life had in stock for them, they will need to grew to be able to stand and fight for themselves and another.
A lovely short read of two people who will find their inner strength to ask for what they dish from life.

The Duke and I by Stacy Reid is book Two in the "Forever Yours" series. This is the story of Elliot Winthrop, the Duke of Hartford and Emmaline Fitzgerald.
I have read the previous book "The Marquess and I" (and loved it!) but feel this is easily a standalone book.
Emma and Elliot were childhood friends that lead to stronger feelings. But when Emma was hurt in a accident and not expected to walk again she didn't want to be a burden to Elliot. Elliot was just a non title holder and neighbor when he first became friends with Emma. Shortly around her accident he became a Duke but even with that title he still wanted to marry Emma but she wouldn't allow him to be tied down to her. Now 8 years later her feelings for him are just as strong and Elliot is still fighting his feelings for her too. Emma has set in motion for her to leave home and go to stay with her sister in America... but before she commits to leaving Elliot an possible never see him again she plans for one more personal memory with him.
I so enjoyed this book and could not put it down! Looking forward to more books by Ms. Reid!

Okay where do I start?
Mm.. let me think!
Brother's best friend? Check!
Devotion that makes your heart falter? Check!
Amazing heroine? Check!
Swoon worthy hero? Check!
The love between Elliot and Emma was just *chef's kiss* and oh so steamy! Their utter devotion to the other was so heartwarming.
Why couldn't this be longer? :(
I felt robbed terribly at the end. Specially their wedding night and her announcement.
This is such a feel good romance with the perfect amount of angst!

Super cute with all the sweet angst. The H and h meet each other young but there was a lot of push and pull throughout the years due to an accident that happened to the h when she was young.

I was a bit frustrated the H did not seem to wait for the h, but given the situation is understandable because humans are not gentle and understanding creatures when their hearts are broken for no apparent reason besides those thought to be of no consequence to mutual love and respect.

I loved Emma and Elliot's story!! All Emma wanted was one night with the man she loved knowing that nothing could ever come from it. I like a woman who goes after what she wants!! I loved that Elliot knew who Emma was even with the mask on because he was so attuned to her.

A very sensual read! Go and get it now!!

This is a fun and flirty story that will make you feel good. Emma is all about being noble and telling Elliot that he needs someone better than her (even though she loves him)…for ten years! But love cannot be undone in Elliot’s mind and her boldness at a ball is all he needs to convince him that she is his to love. But Emma has others plans. “No” is her go to word but Elliot will not take that as a finality. Elliot, he is tenacious, kind, caring, loving, and wicked. Yeah, he is the one. My only wish is that the story was longer.
