Whew, I need a moment to catch my breath after this story!
A roller coaster ride of bountiful laughter, intriguing puzzles, and breath-twisting moments weave seamlessly together to deliver a powerful story.
Cristin Harber worked her wordsmith magic again by building a world and lulling her readers into a false sense of comfortable and then just BOOM blowing it all up and piecing it back together better than imagined - repeatedly.
Both Hagan and Amanda had histories that brought me to tears multiple times. I loved how they met and the games they played getting to know the other, even as much as their games were real and honest. I connected to Amanda with some of her fears and struggles, and admired her mix of quiet and loud strength, and battered but brave heart. Her smarts and (good) attitude shined off the page. I adored Hagan's sense of protectiveness and respect, his fierce love for his family and those in his life and his determination to dig in and get deep. I enjoyed falling in love with both of them as they fell for each other and exposed more of themselves.
Then, there's Boss Man. I think he put forth a good effort to steal the show at moments, but they were always perfect timing. The camaraderie shown within the team and Jared's own brand of tough-*ss tlc still gets to me every time. Love it!
The Survivor rocked my world, packing a powerful emotional punch, and gave me more than just a enjoyable escape. Definitely a terrific addition to the ACES series and the TITAN world in general. Reading each new story in the Titan world feels like a warm welcome home that I never want to leave.
I enjoyed the mystery of this read, obviously we do soon realise who Amanda is but the the connection and questions, the behaviour of Jared had me trying to figure out why the why's. There was suspense and tension, some excitement and action but I loved how Hagen gradually coaxes bits and reactions from Amanda. She lets her guard down slowly and it's wonderful to see her start to blossom. I really enjoyed this story.
I think the book outshines previous Aces books and feels more like the Titan series, back to top form with attitude and content. Jared never disappoints and Parker is his usual self. The storyline was a little slow but despite some irritation at the FL it came together quite well. There are some sex scenes each of them appropriate and proportionate and loving.
Well there were a whole lot of surprises in this book. Sure did not see any of them coming. I love Jared's nickname for her. Hagan was great and I loved how much of a risk he was willing to take. And Amanda took an even bigger one. I'm still trying to figure out where in the Titan world these books fit in. I'm pretty sure it's before.
I just finished a two month evening reading binge with every series Cristin has written and I have to tell you that it was the absolute best! Never has an author made me laugh and cry with such consistency. I am absolutely devastated that I am at the end! These books are more than romance and suspense-they are so much more. I hope the series continues.
This was another terrific story, and a great addition to the series. There were a few heartbreaking situations, tragedies, as well as emotional distress, but in the end everything came together as it should be. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. This is certainly a story that you'll want to read. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
I know that this book is fictional, but it brought up a topic that I truly have no tolerance for. My feelings about this have absolutely nothing to do with how I feel about this book, which I loved btw. Anyway, I know that there are a lot of famous people who truly love the spotlight, and that includes their personal lives as well. However, there are just as many, if not more, that doesn't want their every waking moment available for the whole world to see. I think that there are way too many so-called journalists and photographers who use the excuses of "freedom of the press" or "the public has the right to know" to invade others privacy &/or victimize people just so they can get their stories/photos in order to make a name for themselves, a better job, as well as more money. I refuse to read tabloids, watch any form of "entertainment" shows, or even watch the news. I believe that everyone deserves to have their privacy. Just my opinion.
This was an amazing suspense filled love story between one of Jared's men Hagan and the President's daughter, Amanda. She was traumatized when in college a backpack bomb almost killed her except for her secret service body guard who gave his life to save hers, Dylan. As it turns out Dylan was Hagan's older brother. It was an amazing adventure filled with deceit by Amanda's business partner and supposed life long friend,Halle who actually betrayed her in the end by trying to kill her and her mom after killing two secret service men to kidnap them. Turns out everything Hagan had thought about Amanda all his life was wrong and he fell in love with her after getting to know the real person that she was. She kept her true identity from him so that she would not be treated like the President's daughter but not knowing he was Dylan her favorite secret service man's brother. They went on a mission posing as newly weds and it sealed the deal between them as they found out they really loved each other. This was an action packed adventure as Amanda and Hagan got their happily ever after in spite of overcoming some difficult situations.I highly recommend this trilagy.
The ACES compound in the Middle East is taking shape, especially with the security team that Jared picked t help carry out some of the installs. Let's just say that Amanda has never met a security strategy she didn't love. But that wasn't always the case but tragedy struck close to home and she now carries survivor's guilt as well as a healthy respect for rules!
Hagan and Amanda have major baggage. They each want to protect themselves. But will the fledgling attraction crash when they realise just how connected they are? Amanda isn't exactly naive, she knows exactly how the world works but she kind of straddles many worlds and doesn't really fit into any of them. Hagan carries the weight of the world and his brother's death on his shoulders. But the intriguing and downright annoying Amanda is pushing all his buttons!
Amanda is smart, determined and just a little nuts, the perfect heroine! She is at turns fearful and fearless. Hagan loves deep, and once you're in his circle he won't let you out but you can see the tension mount as he wonders about the relationship between Amanda and BossMan. Yes, Jared is in fine form in the book, his usual ray of obscenity driven sunshine!
Everyone knows the awkward teenage years are the worst and most of us can’t identify the drama Amanda Hearst lived through with parents among the most well-known people on the planet and every teenage episode including zits were fodder for all media. Now that years have passed, Amanda’s taken the opportunity to change from gangly teen to mature young woman who lives by a strict list of rules and owns a security business. Amanda’s latest job has her putting state of the art security for Titan.

No matter how hard he tried, she wouldn’t give him her name because the last time she found a guy she liked, somebody died. Plus, Jared’s told Hagan to stay away from Amanda, as if! When an overlapping job comes in for Ananda, she makes a case for Jared to allow Hagan to accompany her. Things go smoothly until kidnappers try to get to Amanda. Rating: 4.25stars
I have really loved everything Cristin Harber has written but this book just didn’t work for me. Too much bouncing back and forth in time, choppy dialogue and I just couldn’t get past how a woman so emotionally disassociated could meet a guy and be having sex after a few days. Huh?
It took half the book before the actual plot was tied in. There was a surprising twist at the end I wasn’t expecting but then within about 10 pages all the loose ends were tied up and the book ended. And I’m sorry but a patient on a ventilator will ALWAYS have a nurse or experienced EMT riding in the back with them. That kinda messed up the whole ending for me. I wish I could leave a better review 🙁. I will still have Ms Harber on my auto buy list because every author has a hiccup now and then and I certainly understand trying to work during Covid with kids home and trying to somehow homeschool them at the same time.
Can love erase a sad past, can putting yourself out there knowing you endanger those around d you be worth the risk. Amanda keeps to herself and that's how she stays safe and doesn't endanger those around her. She learned the hard way. Jared westin "boss man" tries to warn her that she really needs to know something, she refuses to listen. Hagan meets Amanda unexpectedly in a stairwell. She intrigues him. A puzzle to solve. Boss man warns him to steer clear, this only makes him want to solve the puzzle more. Amanda is drawn to him but unsure if it's a good risk. But a past connection will be the ultimate test to their relationship. Danger is closing in and she doesn't see it. Hagan is blindsided by who she really is. Great well written story. Love the characters if this series.
I really loved the storyline, not knowing the personal info of someone yet developing a relationship with them. Very unique take on falling in love. That said, I'm a huge timeline freak and there are multiple parts to this book that just don't add up for a series that is supposed to take place before the Titan Series does. I know, I know, artistic license and all that, but I have a hard time believing the story as it is written in the present but takes place about 10-15 years ago before Titan began. And then there is the use of an actual person's name as a main character. Just not my thing.
Survivor is the love story between Hagan Carter and Amanda Hearst and it hits the ground running and is a page turner from there. This is book 3 in the Aces series and while I thoroughly enjoyed this one, I think the second book was my favorite, The Protector. The author has come up with a new and different plot, along with another alpha man to add to the growing number she has written about. I liked Amanda’s character and felt for what she had had to live with and cheered when she finally let go of the burden that kept her so alone for many years. There is a definite twist to this plot that really makes this a great story. I loved it!
WOW! Another FANTASTIC story by Cristin! This story is about Hagan and Amanda. I was a little confused in the beginning but by the middle it gets interesting. I did not realize that Dylan and Hagan were brothers plus Dylan was Amanda's bodyguard. I was thrilled that Hagan was breaking down Amanda's walls that she put up after the explosion. I was shocked to find out Halle was not who she appeared to be. Especially when she kidnapped Amanda and her mother. I am happy that these two finally figured out how to make their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Cristin! I would highly recommend this book!
I liked The Survivor. I loved Amanda I found her tough, no nonsense and oh so smart. I like Hagan, he's funny, tough and doesn't take no for an answer. Sometimes I found Hagan childish and annoying, but a good guy at at heart. I did figure out the villain from the beginning. There was one thing Cristin Harber surprised me with, I would have usually figured out. I did not put things together. My biggest complaint was the ending seemed rushed. I didn't find the back and forth between past and present flowing it seemed a little choppy. I enjoyed The Survivor and was entertained.
The survivor is book three in the ACES series by Cristin. This one focuses on Hagan and Amanda - he works for Titan and she has her own security company. Because of her past, when working Amanda goes out of her way to avoid everyone except Parker and Boss Man😢
This story was good and I liked how you got some past background which filled in blanks for Amanda’s story😁I was about an hour or more out from finishing when I had a massive AHA moment which panned out😱 Not as action packed as Cristin’s previous stories but still a good one😍
Hagan and Amanda met under unusual circumstances. They both unknowingly work for the same man. She is all about contracts and rules...rigidly so. Amanda believes that keeps her safe. When she meets Hagan, she wants to throw the rules out the window. They are attracted to each other from the very start. Little do they know, all is not what it seems. The road to their HEA is anything but easy. Get this book ASAP, you won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers
I always look forward to Cristin’s books and this was no exception. I loved 75% of this book, but the ending just left me flat. There was so much more I wanted to see with this couple. It was almost as if a deadline was upon her and she simply hurried to finish the book without her usual flair. It’s actually the first 3 star review I’ve ever given her and it was solely about the ending. I kinda want a do over.
Cristin Harber has created an amazing world of alpha heroes and their kick ass heroines. Her latest combines past and present decisions that eventually bring everything together. This book is a page turner that I couldn’t put down until the end. My favorite characters so far which is saying something as I love all of Cristin’s characters and the opportunity she provides to catch up with them in subsequent books.
When you wake up in the middle of the night and can't get back to sleep, what do you do? Open a book and start reading. The Survivor had me thinking and figuring right from the start. I want to say I expected some of what happened as I read but there were a couple of times that surprised me. I enjoyed reading this one and plan to go back to the beginning of Aces because I feel as though I missed something. All in all, a great story and would definitely recommend.
I love all Cristan’s books. i am a big Titan fan and all the spin off groups. I loved this story. I put together who Amanda was n the middl pf the book and the connection with Dylan and Hagan. Never saw the end coming with Halle though.
I loved Mandy and Hagan as a couple and their relationship just belonged once again Boss Man was in protection mode as usual. Love him.
Wow! Amanda, daughter of the President, rebellion, typical teenager, wanting her own life, not to be followed, or have rules. Then the most unforgiving thing happened. Years later, her scarred memories, she now has her own company, yet risks remain, can she open her heart. Awesome, exciting, full of action, great story. Loved it!❤️
Amanda has been living life by keeping everyone at arms length until she meets Hagan. While Hagan and Amanda get to know each other, they find a strong connection that neither undercut both want to explore. Will Hagan and Amanda find their happily ever after before their past becomes apparent.
This is back to the beginning, how it all started. Much like all the books that have come before it, it doesn’t disappoint. Good solid read with likable h/H and the crew that surrounds them.
I love Cristin Harber's books and this one did not disappoint. This book is an escape from reality we all need during these crazy times. Action, suspense, steamy love and holy plot twist Batman. Already longing for whatever book Harber is working on next.
Everything Cristin writes is amazing! Hagan and Amanda’s story is the best in the aces series. I love how Cristin is able to weave to peoples stories into one. Cristin is one of my favorite authors!
Fast, easy, attention grabbing book with all the usual and some unusual twists and turns. And to think, Halle was right beneath their noses all the time. Plotting on how she could achieve her goal and stay undercover all the time. Until time ran out.
They series was good. I enjoyed them although they were pretty predictable. The only thing I didn’t like was that they didn’t give you anything after everything was solved. Just ended.
So many intricacies and connections in this story between Hagen and Amanda. What an incredibly unique way of meeting! Jared was true to character and caused problems but then created solutions. Looking forward to the next book.
