USA Today Bestselling author Angela Pepper lives with her family in the rainy Pacific Northwest, surrounded by spoiled kitties, deer, raccoons, and the biggest woodpeckers you've ever seen.
Since I don't normally write reviews unless I have something specific to say, here's the break down of how I rate my books...

2 stars... This book was not very good, and I won't be reading any more from the author.
3 stars... This book was ok, but I won't go out of my way to read more, But if I find another book by the author for under a dollar I'd pick it up.
4 stars... I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be on the look out to pick up more from the series/author.
5 stars... I loved this book! It has earned a permanent home in my collection and I'll be picking up the rest of the series and other books from the author ASAP.
Date With a Ghost is a heartwarming second book in the supernatural suspense series called the Restless Spirits Cozy Ghost Mysteries by Angela Pepper. This is not the typical cozy mystery series with reoccurring main characters who solve mysteries. Rather, it’s a series based on the premise that some spirits will manifest themselves as a ghost to help complete unfinished business or to watch over a loved one. So, when you read that each book in this series is a stand-alone, take it literally!
Date With a Ghost begins with lifestyle blogger Samantha moving to Owl Bend, Colorado to get a fresh start after a tragedy befalls her. There she meets Warren a handsome nature and wild life photographer and after one date, things begin to look up. While waiting for Warren to meet her for their second date in a local bar, Sam sees him arrive while simultaneously taking a phone call from the local deputy sheriff who is informing her that Warren is dead. With the ghost’s appearance each night, Sam is drawn into finding out how Warren really died. When she begins to suspect that Warren’s death was no accident, she is kidnapped and tortured by the killer. This mystery was cleverly written with a very good red herring!
I listened to the Audible version of this story narrated by Marie Hoffman who did a fantastic job. I'd gladly listen to another audiobook narrated by her and in this series. I can't wait to see whose ghost appears next to this intriguing series!
Samantha Torres is meeting Warren for their 3rd date. Once he arrives, she notices how quiet and withdrawn he seems. Then she gets a call from a sheriff, letting her know that Warren was killed that night. What?! So now she’s talking to his ghost.
After some getting used to, Sam realizes how easy it is to talk to Warren’s ghost, especially since he doesn’t talk. But then she starts to believe that he’s carrying secrets. Could it be possible that his death wasn’t an accident? Could the stripper have anything to do with it?
At first, I thought this little mystery was crafty and clever, until it didn’t start to feel like a mystery anymore. When Sam got derailed from Warren’s death and started hanging out with the stripper and her friend, story started taking on a whole new meaning. It was starting to feel more like a ghost love story or a girls gone wild tale.
When I was about half way through the book and there was still no progress, I started wondering why I was even continuing. I mean, why can Sam even see ghosts in the first place? It didn’t make sense.
This book had a promising start, but it just fell through on expectations.
Date With a Ghost is a heartwarming start in the supernatural suspense series called the Restless Spirits Cozy Ghost Mysteries by Angela Pepper. It is a standalone book. The series is based on the premise that some spirits will manifest themselves as a ghost to help complete unfinished business or to watch over a loved one.
The story unravels slowly. Lifestyle blogger Samantha moved to Owl Bend, Colorado to get a fresh start after a personal tragedy. As we learn about Samantha, we also learn about Warren. Warren & Samantha were going on their third date when in reality, he died that afternoon on the trail.
We are introduced to a few strange characters. There are a few red herrings. I liked the twist at the end.
I listened to the Audible version after reading this book a few years ago. This story is narrated by Marie Hoffman who did a fantastic job.
Disclaimer. I had requested and received audible version of this book for free from the author, in exchange for an unbiased review.
What I liked about the book - I had loved the first book of the series and this second book doesn't disappoint either. The characters are still lovable and cozy mystery plot is still easy to follow. Books like these where you don't have to give your undivided attention are my favorite. The story moves at a comfortable pace and keeps you wanting to know what happens next.
What I disliked about the book - None.
Narration - Narration by Marie Hoffman was a plus point in this book. Her delivery made the book all that more entertaining.
I love this story. It has such a melancholy air from the beginning and Samantha seems so sad and troubled...
The story unravels slowly, a clue here and there, while keeping your interest all the time and getting you engaged in Samantha's wellbeing. And doesn't matter what you think you know, in the end, you'll be surprised for the final twist of the story.
A very unusual cosy, but one I truly enjoyed.
And something really strange happened to me with the narrator, Marie Hoffman. I wasn't convinced during the first minutes of the audiobook, but by the end? I couldn't think of anyone who could have done it better.
My previous experience with Ms Pepper's books has been with light and funny tales (murder notwithstanding). This one caught me by surprise as there is a more serious presentation--although still plenty of humor. Marie Hoffman does a terrific job voicing the various characters as she spins the story along, pulling one ever deeper into Samantha's mind and the events around her. Very enjoyable!
Samantha is now in Owl Bend, a bar called The Watering Hole. waiting for her date Warren, people celebrating Cinco de Mayo. She receives a call from a cop wanting to inform her about Warren, she looks up and he is gone. With the cop coming to where she is at. He is dead, then who came to her in the bar. He comes to her at the cabin, but doesn’t speak. Buying a Quija board, revisiting the bar, the twists to this, of what is trying to be told is interesting. Good beginning to this series
What a cute story! Samantha had moved to Colorado for a new experience, but then when she meets her date on Cinco De Mayo, he arrives as a ghost! Though, this ghost turns out to be something more than he seems! Really enjoyed the tie between love lost and second chances in the snowy mountain peeks. Hit all the right cozy notes.
This wasn't a bad read, it just didn't seem to do much for me. I tend to finish a series, but I just wasn't able to b bring myself to read anymore of these books, it just didn't keep my interest well enough.
This was quite a bit different than Amanda’s other stories. This one doesn’t have the light hearted silliness. It is a straight forward mystery with love, loss and next steps.
I thought this book would be similar to some stories about people seeing ghosts, was i wrong this is a story which is very different in a good way. Take a chance and read it for yourself.
I generally read cozy mysteries because they’re pretty easy to multitask to. This one has me listening to every word! Sam’s past comes to light at the critical moment and it’ll hit you in the feels for sure! I’m just sad the book ended right when her happy ending was beginning!

DATE WITH A GHOST is the second book in the Restless Spirits series. The books in this series are stand-alones and can be read in any order.
What a great cozy mystery! I was kept guessing until the very end and isn’t that what you want in a cozy? There was also a nice romantic element. In fact, she had two prospects – her ghostly paramour and the town deputy sheriff. Two sexy men, one for daytime and one for night.
I love how Angela Pepper keeps me on my toes as I listen to her stories. All of the clues are there, but like a thrift store jigsaw puzzle, sometimes there are more pieces than are needed and you have to decide what to keep and what to throw back into the box. I can’t wait to read more from this series and this author!
Narration: Marie Hoffman is a wonderful narrator. I love listening to her as I drive.
Note: while I was given this book as a gifted audiobook copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery suspense story. I just love stories about ghosts and spirits who are there to help humans even if the humans don't want the help! Lifestyle blogger Samantha Torres finds herself in the town of Owl's Bend, Colorado. A very small town known for its honeymooning visitors and its resorts nestled in the woods. Samantha needs a break from her life and decides some time in a quiet remote area might do her some good. She meets a handsome photographer Warren and has a few good dates with him before he winds up dead. Mystery swirls around the little town with characters that come out of the woodwork and the suspense and ghostly visits continue throughout the story.
"He leaned his head against the passenger-side window and then right through the glass. He kept his head there for a while, his gaze on the stars and his ears outside the car, away from her questions."
Owl's Bend was "barely bigger than a drop of bug spit,"
"After sunset, her handsome boyfriend came around and kept her company, always listening, never complaining or making "helpful" suggestions."
"The idea of sharing a meal with a living person who was both male and handsome excited her. She glanced around guiltyily, looking for Warren, but he'd already disappeared with the sunrise."
Excellent writing, original story line and characters that brought the little town of Owl's Bend to life. Time well spent, and this book was gifted by the author for an honest review.
It’s always a nice pace of change to read something totally different than what I normally read. This was a good start to this series.
Samantha is a visiter in the town of Owl Bend, Colorado. She was only supposed to be there for a little getaway but she can’t seem to leave. Her life suddenly turns interesting when she is haunted by a ghost- a man named Warren that she went out on a couple of dates. Through this haunting, she tries to discover the cause of Warren’s death. Throughout the investigation, she meets some interesting and also quirky characters. She is not sure who to trust and what to do. What will Samantha discover and what will happen?
This book had me intrigued throughout. I felt like I was going with Samantha as she went through this journey of discovery. She was a very enjoyable characters. I did like the unexpected as I read. I wasn’t expecting that ending though it did make several happenings make sense. It was a good surprise that made the whole story so much more interesting. This was a nice and enjoyable read. I am interested to see where the author goes next.
Samantha is a blogger who is in a small town in Colorado. She's not sure what is keeping her there, it started out as a place to get away for a bit. Then a guy she met and had a couple of dates with turns up dead. Since her name was in his phone, the Deputy calls her number to break the news to her - the problem is, he was standing in front of her in a tuxedo.
Sam soon figures out that she is seeing a ghost. He appears each night and disappears at dawn. He doesn't talk, but she feels like he is trying to tell her something.
While the death is considered an accident, the guy fell when he got too close to the edge of the mountain cliff where he was taking pictures, Sam feels it was no accident. As she tries to figure out what happened, she makes a few people nervous. Then she ends up kidnapped and dumped into the flooring of a cabin.
The ending is definitely not what you'd expect!!! It's a great read - I couldn't put the book down! This is the first in a series that promises to be fun and mysterious at the same time.
Newly arrived in Owl Springs Colorado and fleeing a past she doesn't want to remember, Samantha accepts a date with a man after meeting him in the woods. He appears in a tuxedo - a bit over dressed and doesn't speak to her ... an then, the local deputy sheriff tells her he's been killed in an accident. As time goes on, Warren's ghost stays with her, and she becomes convinced that his death was an accident. Looking further into his death, the town and the locals attracts the wrong kind of attention and Samantha finds herself in danger. This was a strange story, but I enjoyed trying to come to terms with the ghost, and then puzzling out what was going on in the little town and what happened in Samantha's past. Interesting reading.
Fabulous start to a new series. Samantha has relocated temporarily to a sleepy little town in Colorado when she meets up with a ghost. The ghost was her date until he died. She begins to think the ghost is hanging out with her to solve his murder, or was it an accident? Along the way we meet plenty of unique and interesting characters all claiming to know something about her ghost. We also learn something about Samantha that she seems to have shut out of her mind, it's the reason for her stay. We were given lots of bread crumbs to solve this murder yet I was a little surprised by the change it took. Really enjoy this writing style and look forward to more from Troy.
I only gave this 4 stars because of some early sentence structure issues and the fluidity. The author was clearly trying to set the scene and be very descriptive, however it sometimes led to having to re-read the sentence. Putting all that aside and a few chapters in....we have a mystery that will keep you on your toes. Living in Pueblo Colorado, I felt I could relate to the small town and the community within. The mystery and the ghost were cleverly introduced. Loved the characters and the interactions with each other. A fun quick read!
Maybe 2.5? It was ok. I really wanted to love this story, as it was set in my favorite place in the world, Colorado, but the writing seemed off. Maybe the author was trying to build to suspense? But it wasn't enough to keep me reading late into the night, just when I had time to kill. It wasn't awful, and it was a Kindle Unlimited book in a 'bundle' with other ghost type stories, so I'm not horribly offended that I directly spent money on it, but I'm not sure that I'd seek out other books by the author.
Its a book which can be read with a cup of nice hot coffee. Its a cozy thriller which will keep you on your feet. :)
The story is about Samantha who is visiting Colorado so that she can forget something in her past. During her time in the small town, she makes friends with wildlife photographer Warren who dies in an accident. Ever since that incident she receives visits from a friendly ghost. She finds out more about the ghost and what happened to him and eventually ending up fighting her way out her situation and realizing her true self.
This may be the darkest story I’ve read by Danielle Garrett. I prefer lighthearted and funny murder. (Yikes, that is a strange comment!)
This story delves into alcoholism and murder. I usually try to stay away from darker topics like this by checking a trigger database. I never felt the need to check the content of Ms. Garrett’s books before. As she stated in the Author’s Notes, she likes variety in her writing. Variety absolutely matters to us readers as well.
Date with a Ghost was a great read by Angela Pepper. Samantha is a lifestyle blogger who seems to have everything that she could want. She went to Owl Bend, Colorado in hopes of forgetting her painful past. She thought that her luck was changing when she met a handsome man in the woods. Unfortunately, he died under mysterious circumstances. She attracts unwanted attention when unlocking secrets of his past. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
