What a fabulous thought provoking book. I have learnt so much from reading this book and it has really left me with a new attitude that I think I might even change my job. The book was written so well that it looks at both sides of the situation and just confirms how much the media steers our way of thinking. I do know several people that have been victims of the 'african gangs' but I know many victims of other crimes too. Yes, the media choose the stories that bring the most attention as this book points out. I would recommend this read to anyone that loves Melbourne and wants it to grow as a great city.
Melbourne is marvellous, this book is not. I really enjoy Australian crime/police non-fiction books, but damn this book is boring. So boring that in the defence of this book I couldn’t read it cover to cover, so maybe there are a few gems I’ve missed.
Apex gang sounds like a bunch of whiny kids that need a smack on the bottom, Certainly not a notorious, fear inducing gang. I’d gladly Smack them myself. Invest your time and money elsewhere.
