Equip new adventurers. Send them out to find their way in Everternia. Sally's purpose had always been clear.
Newly awakened from a repetitive, poorly-treated existence as an NPC, she now sees her world from a new perspective. She can be more than the sum of her parts. She wants to become an adventurer. A maker. Being a storemonger is okay, but she needs more.
And she won't let people treat her badly anymore.
She has so much to learn about Everternia and about herself that she barely knows where to start. She wants to do it all, immediately, with great enthusiasm, and maybe even while wearing a pair of really nice pants.
She'll be a brand-new type of adventurer, and she'll forge her own path.
Set in a cozy steampunk rpg world, this unique series blends multiple genres into a crafting litrpg cozy steampunk adventure. No, that isn't an official category as of yet, but Sally's working on it.

Zen DiPietro is a lifelong bookworm, writer, and dreamer. Perhaps most importantly, a Browncoat Trekkie Whovian. Also red-haired, left-handed, and uber geek. Absolutely terrible at conforming. A recovering gamer, but we won’t talk about that. Particular loves include badass heroines, British accents, and the smell of Band-Aids. You can sign up for her newsletter at www.zendipietro.com.
Trailblazer: Adventure by Association The Everternia Saga by Zen DiPietro is a wonderful steampunk novel that I just finished reading to Amanda (age 11). It's funny, whimsical, uplifting, and self-affirming.
We love Sally, a Community Member (CM) who didn't have a life outside her store until 2 adventurers from Reallife, Essley and Darthrok, entered her world. Now she wants to be an adventurer too! Sally has such a magnetic personality and most of her thoughts and conversations are hilarious! She finds out truths about herself along the way, but she’s been warned that some truths can do her more harm than good.
We can’t wait to find out what happens next! This is Book 1, but we recommend that you read the prequel The Heart-Shaped Chest first. It’s free at the moment and hopefully will stay that way.
Zen DiPietro creates a cozy steampunk rpg world. Amanda even asked if it was a real game, because she wants to play it! This is a fun story for all ages. We received an ARC. This is our honest and voluntary review.
A Sensible NPC Shopkeeper, A Spark of Sentience, and A Dash of Cheekiness...
Sounds like fun to me! This is a fun little slice-of-life LitRPG lite novel. The MC is a cheeky NPC shopkeeper in the newb starting zone of a fun steampunk inspired MMO. We follow her awakening journey to sentience with two fun player sidekick friends. The stakes aren’t crazy high but there are definitely hints of a deeper mystery afoot in the game.
This was a fun lite read that I found quite enjoyable and I’m looking forward to book two. So if this sounds interesting (or even if you’re on the fence), grab the free introductory short story to get started with this fun little series. Cheers and happy reading!
Sally is an NPC in a game. However after experiencing kindness she becomes self aware. It is fun to observe her become more sentient as she has more interactions and learns more. Sally is an interesting, capable, and mysterious character. I look forward to the next book.
A really fun twist on the virtual world/ gamelit story.
When the main character is CM (npc) and starts to develop beyond get script, you get a while new view of the adventure and the world around her. Sally's exploration into the world around her, with the wonder of a child makes this a really fun and thoughtful story.
I’ve enjoyed all of Ms. DiPietro’s earlier works, and this is no exception. Transforming a NPC into a sentient player with feelings is a bit different. I was wondering how she was going to pull off the changes needed for Sally to transform. So far, so good. Now I just need to wait it out for the next book to be released.
