Finally finished! I had high expectations for this book, especially since it comes highly recommended in my feed. However, it proved to be quite a challenge to get through, not only due to its substantial length of over 1000+ pages but also because I struggled to maintain interest as I progressed. I admit I even considered giving up when I was about 60% through. Nevertheless, I persevered and managed to read it till the end, though I did end up skimming through the last part.
The concept of the book is undeniably superb, but unfortunately, the flow of the story felt dragging at times. There were certain scenes that could have been omitted, as they did little to contribute to the overall narrative and only added to my occasional boredom.
I dunno but I cannot emotionally connect to the characters, to the main leads (I tried, I really tried) but the supposedly "kilig" moments is kinda forced. Maybe bcs the story wherein they developed for each other is kinda off. The flow is kinda off. Like, awkwardly developed.
Moreover, the excessive and unnecessary deaths throughout the story felt unrealistic and unreasonable.
On a positive note, the twist in the last part did leave a sad impression.
In summary, I would describe the book as just okay.
Holy cow. Just when I thought the twist and revelation was already over and done with when we 'discovered' that Leandro is the one who killed Juanito, the author dropped a major bombshell that I honestly did not expect. I was convinced and proud of my foresight that I already suspected Leandro in the beginning. But the truth is different.
Anyway, the last two books of this series was far superior than the earlier books. There are still problems with the writing, especially with redundancy of lines, and inconsistency. However, the plot and conclusion of the story saved this book.
I recommend readers to atleast read this once in your lifetime. As for me, I am satisfied with the reading experience but also I won't be rereading it again.

U dabes!
May konting error lang typo, grammar. Pero ang ganda solid. Read all the books.
I like how this series ended. The storyline’s good. I did not really like the Mexican telenovela arcs or mini story arcs in between but the premise and wrap-up is pretty good.
These series have made me incredibly happy and sad. It teaches how difficult life were during the Spanish colonization in the Philippines, and how the Filipinos fought and made their sacrifices in the war. The storyline of the last book made me shookt and left me in awe and after all these months, I could not still get over it. Kudos to the author of this book, "I love you since 1892" is truly a masterpiece of this generation.
