11th century Afghanistan - Ibrahim, an herbalist of Chinese medicine and his wife Rida have been trying for over twenty years to have a child. Now, nearly fifty years old, a miracle baby is born. They are overjoyed but their community has turned against them because of the child. A mysterious sickness has overtaken the town and the child, now a teen, is blamed.
