An anthology of erotic short stories with a burlesque twist introduced by Chris Manby and featuring writers including Katie Fforde, Jo Rees, Olivia Darling, Nikki Magennis, Maxim Jakubowski, Kristina Lloyd and Lauren Wissot. The UK's top erotic writers revel in the erotic glamour of fluttering eyelashes, twirling tassels and more than a hint of stocking. Sapphic encounters, fetish fun, sensual exploration, kinky submission and domination; whatever your pleasure these stories are guaranteed to provide the ultimate tease.
I'm giving erotica another go, although it's not my usual kind of book.
The purpose behind this book is fantastic- to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Research. All of the writers included in this short story book wrote their stories for free and I really hope this book has raised a lot of money for this cause.
The whole theme of the book is burlesque and I have to say I was a little dubious about just how many different ways you could write about burlesque but I was pleasantly surprised. Every single story is completely different, in different styles and eras and there was the odd one thrown in from the male's perspective which gave a great little spin on it.
I struggled a little in the beginning because I felt like the stories were a bit too short with the action over very quickly. However as the book progressed there were some really clever ones in there and my absolute favourite was 'The rise and fall of the burlesque empire'. I thought that was fantastically written.
Overall it was great collection of stories and I would be intrigued to read others in the collection.
It's brilliant of course, because I am in it but more importantly, certainly more, is that it is for a great and wonderful cause, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research. Buy it from any good bookshop or directly from the Xcite website, which will get it to your door with more of that lovely money going to charity. My favourite story in the book, by far, is the wonderful 'Dominatresque' by Carmen Ali, AKA Miss Aurelia Dare, a wonderful depiction of male submission that got me hot and made me want to seek out the author, brandishing a bag of ginger root. Buy and help save the boobies.
I wrote one of the stories for this book. My story is entitled "Callipa The Stripper". All of the stories are sexy and of high-quality. Plus, the charity is a worthy one - breast cancer research. I was happy to be a part of this endeavor.
A sensuous mix of corsets, nipple tassels and hot encounters. This brings together the many different characters and styles burlesque offers. Who doesn't love a naughty tease?
