Books 1 through 5 of the award-winning Hetta Coffey Series: Just Add Water Just Add Salt Just Add Trouble Just Deserts Just the Pits
Hetta Coffey is a sassy Texan with a snazzy yacht, and she's not afraid to use it!
She's pushing forty and is perpetually single when she decides to change her personal life, which hasn't been working out so well to date. Oh, sure, she's an engineer who globe-trots for work and pleasure, and she owns her own company, but it's time for something different. How different, she has no idea until she tackles buying a large yacht and moving aboard.
Gaining confidence in her ability to handle her 45-foot power boat, she takes on a job in Mexico and heads down the Pacific Coast, into hot Mexican water.
Hetta, never one to be accused of being faint of heart, soon learns a voyage like this is not for sissies. Taking off for the Baja sets her off on a series of life-changing escapades that lend a whole new meaning to the phrase "sink or swim."
Quirky characters and fast-paced action are woven into each humorous tale in this set of adventures on the high seas.
Jinx Schwartz is the USA TODAY Best-selling author of the award-winning Hetta Coffey series.
JUST ADD WATER, first in the series, introduces Hetta, a sassy Texan with a snazzy yacht, and she's not afraid to use it. JUST ADD SALT, JUST ADD TROUBLE, JUST DESERTS, JUST THE PITS, JUST NEEDS KILLIN', AND JUST DIFFERENT DEVILS get her into hot Mexican Waters. JUST PARDON MY FRENCH, BOOK 8, FINDS HETTA IN FRANCE and Book 9: JUST FOLLOW THE MONEY, takes a wild ride on two continents, and JUST FOR THE BIRDS, Book 10, gets her afowl of exotic bird smugglers. Book 11 finds her in Texas, and living in an RV until her boat goes missing back in Mexico, and in Just On Porpoise (12 ) her attention is drawn to the almost extinct Vaquita, and JUST SO WRONG (13) finds Hetta taking on the dogfighting trade. Her other books: The Texicans (Texas 1806-1836 Historical Western), Land of Mountains, a YA/TWEEN set in Haiti in the 1950's, Troubled Sea, a thriller in Mexico's Sea of Cortez, and BAJA GET AWAY, suspensful romance in Mexico.
If Hetta created a clothing line, it would carry all of the vibrancy of Mexico with tips and shreds in the fabric. As Mexico has become Hetta's second home onboard her 45 footer Raymond Johnson, her "handler" Trob finds her less than ethical Materials Management jobs that typically land her in life threatening hot water. Hetta is brassy and sassy, loves dogs, splits of champagne and fish tacos for breakfast. She is witty and crass. Her segues, witty references and nuances leave the reader in hysterics. Can't wait to read book 6!!
This is the second time through for most of this collection. Worth reading over. Not many writers have the talent to take you a a place and make you feel like you are there. Not many writers develop such characters as Jinx creates. You are living the stories with them. They creep into your brain and take up residence. When ever I see one of her books on sale, I have to have it. Probably one of my favorite writers. I know I will always get a very good story and can visit with old friends. Highly recommend this set and any of her books.
It was so great to have the boxed set to read consecutively. Hetta and her impressive friends create an enjoyable group to spend time with. The action is believable, the banter is realistic and the actual plots of each book keep the reader engaged. Hetta is a single woman in a man's world who buys a boat and spends time working in Mexico. Her run ins with unsavory types is the main plot line in all the books but the friends she is surrounded by are interesting as well. Not much foul language is a plus.
I almost put the first book down and I MUST say, I am glad I did not!!! Ever since I find myself yearning for a few sneaked moments to spend will Hetta and Jan and whoever.....absolutely has my intrest and I repeat, I am hooked!
After reading Troubled Sea, the Hetta Coffey series was disappointing. I was not grabbed in the beginning, could not visualize the characters, I could see no purpose in Hetta's life except chasing men. Very disappointing!
