Telling a good story that revives hope, reminds us of love, and gives a vacation from life is all she’s up to.
I really enjoyed reading this book. He is trouble and a thief. She moves to Florida and meets him. She gets close to him. He continues to rob banks with his brother without her knowing. She ends up pregnant and tells her that he was the one robbing banks.
As with many of Ali Parker's stories, you've got the bad boy who really is a good guy at heart. This one was little harder for me to wrap my head around with Will robbing banks with his former foster brother. He was trying to change his life and have a legitimate career as an electrician, but kept letting himself get pulled back into bank heists by his "brother" seemingly out of guilt. Heidi and Val are irresponsible with their friend Olive being the voice of reason. The story ended with the HEA and Heidi and Will getting their act togetherfor the sake of their baby, so there was that. It was just there were a lot of points along the way that made it a little harder for me to embrace the characters. There is certainly plenty of chemistry between Will and Heidi, the element of danger and the desire to do better, but it is not one of my favorites. The writing is pretty good and the characters well-developed, I guess just not my cup of tea.
Will and Heidi’s story is an intense chemistry and a great story. Heidi is in need of help for a problem she is having and Will comes to her rescue. Another great story from Ali Parker. I honestly volunteered to review this arc.
This was one hot romance. I really loved it. What else is there to say. You will be missing out if you do not read it. I could not put it down it was so good.
You have to love a bad boy turned good! Will grew up in the foster system whose foster brother took him under his wings and showed him the ropes of survival. When they left the foster system, his brother entered into crime as a way to get by dragging Will with him. Will wanted a better life and strived for it. When he met Heidi who also moved to Florida for a better life thing started to look up, but will his foster brother be his stumbling block? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Heidi and her best friends Olive and Val lived in NYC. They decided they wanted a change of scenery. Olive owned a house in Florida so they traveled there. It's a gorgeous house in a nice area. Heidi met the electrician named Will the first day when they needed power. They developed a relationship. The girls all got server jobs in the same restaurant. Will however has a secret that can ruin everything. What will happen when Heidi finds out?
This read hit a bit different for me, which had me wavering on the review. We have three great friends that do a last-minute change up to their lives and make a big move. Heidi and Will have a connection from the start, their chemistry, the pull that they have is strong throughout. There are moments that test that strength and how some unexpected turns impact their lives. My issues come in with the ladies, Heidi and Val come off a bit childish compared to Olive, so that made it hard to connect with them. Also, Will grew up in the system and made very questionable decisions as an adult. He's doing well with building a legit career and wanting to leave that life behind, but there are struggles with those choices as well. Overall, the story flowed, but some things did pull me from the read at times.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Really good read. I do wish we had a bit more details at the end but overall good. Will and Heidi meet one night after Will, the electrician, comes by. Will has lots of secrets but will Heidi be the one to put him on the right path.
Omg, I absolutely loved this book. So many tears shed. Will and Heidi's love story hit every emotional button in my heart. A definite must read. Thank you Ali Parker
Three best friends Heidi, Valerie and Olive head down south to Tampa Florida where Olive had inherited her mother’s beachfront property in an expensive neighbourhood. Once they arrive, they have no power. A call was placed for an electrician. Will noticed Heidi standing on the porch and he was immediately attracted to her. Heidi let Will into the house and down to the basement to the electrical panel. Heidi was assessing Will while he worked and she was taking an interest in him. Will repaired the wires and left. Heidi wanted to see Will again so in the middle of the night Heidi pulled the wires out of the panel and called for Will to come and repair what was wrong with the power. Needless to say, Will saw through Heidi’s ploy and repaired the damage to the panel. They arrange to have a date.
Will had a second job. He and his foster care (not blood related) older brother Rayce were break in house thieves and bank robbers. Will saved all his illegal gotten gains money only living on his electrician pay. Will lived in a rundown apartment building with little furniture. Heidi wanted to see his apartment but Will made excuses not for her to visit his place. He thought because she lived in an expensive neighbourhood she was rich. Will took Heidi to a hotel and their sexual chemistry heated up the sheets for most of the night and the following morning. Rayce wanted to pull another bank robbery. Will resisted and told Rayce he was done. No more bank robberies for him. He loved Heidi and wanted to go straight.
Will wanted a nice house is a good neighbourhood so he called a realtor and Rayce accompanied them to a viewing. Will bought the second house he viewed with the realtor so Heidi could visit him. She became suspicious of how he could afford this house so he told her of his past. They fought and Heidi ran away from him. He went to her house and heard her friends say “did you tell him about the baby”. Will was shocked and he told Rayce he wanted back into the bank robbery plan because he needed to provide for Heidi and the baby. The bank job goes wrong but Will is able to escape with the money and he heads to his house. Heidi arrives at his house and see the money on the coffee table. They argue and she tells Will to give back the money because it is wrong to start a life together with this hanging over their heads. Will gives back not only the bank money but all the money he had left after buying the house.
There is more to this Hot Summer Lovin’ story written by Ali Parker. I enjoyed reading this book.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "HOT SUMMER LOVIN" This was a very interesting storyline with some mystery, suspense, secrets, lies, deceit, intrigue, passion and a few twists. Heidi lost her parents when she was 18 she inherited her mother's beach front property in Tampa Florida she and 2 of her BF'S Valerie and Olive move from NYC to start somewhere fresh. The electrical system was out at the property when they arrived do they called an electrician to fix it. Will had a pretty rough life in the foster care system growing up his brother not by blood Rayne was also in the system but he got Will into the life of crime stealing from houses and doing bank heists to live. Will shows up Heidi's to fix the electrical system he's immediately attracted to her he leaves his number incase there's more trouble she wants to see him again so messes with the electrical system to bring him back. Will asks Heidi on a date they end up at a hotel and they have one hot steamy sexy romp interesting he hay. Will wants to go legit but Rayce wants to pull another bank job he's not spent any of the money from the banks just his pay from being an electrician but he wants to but a house. Wills secret gets exposed and Heidi takes off he goes after her and overhears the girls talking apparently Heidi is pregnant she tells him to return the money they can't start a life with this over their heads. Will he return the money and they get their HEA you must get this book it's an interesting entertaining romance I would definitely recommend to read.
Will grew up in the foster care system and if wasn't for Rayce, eight years older than him, he probably wouldn't have been in such a good place emotionally as he is now. Rayce protected him over the years and acted like his brother/father figure. So he feels that he owes Rayce his loyalty. They start out robbing banks to make ends meet and haven't got caught, so far! But Will wants more out of his life. He wants to earn money honestly and so he studies to become an electrician. Will has a good heart. Don't think otherwise but,at times, he makes bad choices. When one summer he meets Heidi who moves into a house with two girl friends and they need Will's help as they have no power. Will and Heidi are very smitten with each other but it's certain that they will even see each other again. However, they do and their romance blossoms. But he has that one major secret that involves Rayce that he just can't tell her. But what happens when Heidi discovers that she has a secret from Will? Will she tell Will?? And what about Rayce? This is a somewhat different storyline from Ali Parker than usual. I did find it not so easy to like Rayce nor Will to be honest at the beginning. But as the story progressed I was rooting for Will and Heidi to have their HEA. A really good ending! A well paced story that I couldn't put down as I just 'had to know'what was going to happen with these engaging characters. I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here. Most Definitely Recommended.
Maybe it’s the number of years between my age and the age of the heroine in this book, but I had a lot of trouble getting into it. Heidi’s childish behavior, and that of and her friend Val, bothered me to no end. I couldn’t connect with her. Will came across as being more mature, so it was easier for me to understand him and his motivations. One of the things I adore most about a Parker story is that the ‘bad boy’ hero is still a good man. This book really pushed it to the edge. I was having problems fitting Will into the good man category for most of the book. He pulls it of in the end, but it was a near thing. For me, this was a three-and-a-half star review, but I’m going to round it up. I know there are readers who are going to love this story the way I wanted to. The story is well-written, the characters are complex and believable, I just wasn’t able to get far enough past Heidi and Val’s spoiled, selfish attitudes. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
This is a great book for the modern reader with an open perspective on life, choices and moral substance. Everyone loves a bad boy, me included, however I have to say - even though Will was a really genuinely likeable character I just couldn’t get past the fact he was a bank robber! It just had my moral compass going off all wonky. Why this is when I love the bad boys I just don’t know but hey ho we like what we like. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and my review is honest and voluntary.... I really love Ali’s books... however I’ve struggled with this one more than any of her other books. It just didn’t totally do it for me. I think if you’re quite broad minded and very modern and forward thinking you can see past that and usually I can just not enough to give it my usual glowing report and 5 star rating... still a great book and worth a read and we’re all different so my 4 may well be your 5!
Heidi meets Will when she needs an electrician to work on her new home. Instantly enthralled with him, she wants to spend more time with him so sabotages his work so he has to return. Of course Will sees through this, but he is also interested.
Both are keen on each other but of course things can’t be so simple. Will is obviously keeping a secret, but you’d never think that it was his secret life as a bank robber with his foster brother. This obviously doesn’t feel right to him as he doesn’t spend any of the proceeds. Meeting Heidi makes him want to change. But can he do this with his foster brother having such a strong influence over him.
At first Heidi annoyed me, but she seemed to mature so I soon warmed to her. I liked Will, and am pleased he got his act together. A good read.
Sometimes the saying runs true people do stupid things when their young to survive but also for love. Will is a young man who works a blue collar job earning an honest wage. Heidi is a young woman who moves to Tampa Florida from New York with her two best friends. When these two meet sparks fly and passion ignites, however when miraculous accident happens Will believes the best way to provide for his family is to break the law. Hot Summer Lovin’ was a fantastic witty and thrilling story about right and wrong, and sometimes losing the person you love makes you realize that a change needs to be made. Filled with wit, heartache, fear, laughter, family, passion, and love. Readers will be captivated by Will and Heidi’s story. A great story I couldn’t put down. “I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this novel.”
This was a good romance and the chemistry between Will and Heidi was strong. Fate brought them together. Will had a sad upbringing in the foster care system but was basically a good person. He allowed his foster brother to drag him into a world crime by robbing banks. Some suspense and drama and then the pull between good and evil. His love for Heidi and his unborn child made his decision so much easier. The devotion between the Foster brothers was real. Life gives you choices and when you have to choose between money and what's right, things have a way of coming into perspective. Likable characters and an entertaining story. I read an arc and voluntarily chose to write a review.
HOT SUMMER LOVIN' By Ali Parker Wow! This is a very different, original type of love story, and I really appreciated that. Will grew up in foster care scraping for everything he had. Heidi lost her parents at age 18, but has two best friends that are her family now. They meet when he is hired to come check out the wiring at the house the girls moved into. Chemistry and attraction are hot, solid story line, and great characters. When things are not what they seem to be I was afraid our hero was flawed beyond redemption, I didn't know how Ali would get Will out of his jam, but she sure did admirably. I could not put it down as I wanted to know how things would turn out. This is a 5 star story for me.
Heidi, a hair salon lackey, meets Will, an electrician with dark secrets, when the house she and her two friends moved to have a problem with the electrical system. As the story progresses a second encounter is not guaranteed, secrets kept could kill the trust they’re building, and repeating old patterns may just break them both. Ali Parker’s Hot Summer Nights does not give the reader time to cool off. Between the witty girl talk, sizzling chemistry, and dark decisions; you can’t go wrong choosing to read this one. I wonder if she has anything planned for Olive, Valerie, or Rayce.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
Heidi and Will.meet when he shows up to fix their electricity. Will is trying to be a legitimate business man, although he has a dark past. He continues to rob banks on the side with his friend, but wants to stop. When he and Heidi meet, they are instantly attracted to each other. They start seeing each other, but will his secrets destroy what they're building? When she finds out she is pregnant, she doesn't tell him, but he finds out. He robs another bank to get money for their future, but she wants no part of it. Will he do the right thing so they can be together? This is an emotional read with wonderful characters - you will laugh, cry and ultimately be happy that these two found each other. I received an advanced readers copy of this book and am gladly leaving this review.
One doozy of a tale with Will, the " Bad Boy " who has a loving heart underneath all the years of unknowns, dark places, and scars to go along with it, one woman, Heidi, her two friends, and his foster brother Rayce-change the course of his life in one hot supensful Florida summer. Sizzling with mystery and intrigue, I couldn't help but be caught up in the dramatics of this story! I tettered back and forth in my like and dislike for the characters and their decisions, certainly didn't stop me from reading on! A twisty plot, with a fast-paced story, and pulse-pounding moments- this bad boy taken down by the love romance is a sexy beast of frustrating entertainment! Ali Parker Knows How To get my attention! 4.5 stars
Hot Summer Lovin'. This book was an okay story. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't one of Ali's best stories. It was slow and uneventful in the beginning. Reading about the three girlfriends making decisions to move on with their lives in a new city. Will and his foster brother continue to rob banks and escape the police's grasp. The connection made between Heidi and Will seems to change their lives even more and gives Will more to look forward to in life. Can money really give you the happiness you are looking for or do you need something more? I think if love isn't there, just money can't make you happy. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***
4 stars I received a free copy of the full length novel Hot Summer Lovin: One Hot Summer Book 1: Will by Ali Parker and this review was given freely. A steamy reformation of a bad boy, unplanned pregnancy, rocky romance with a happy ending set in Florida. Foster care system survivor now electrician Will is peer pressured to continue with the life of bank robbery by his foster brother Rayce util fate steps in in the form of recent Florida resident Heidi. Interesting characters, plain language, some steamy scenes, and a group of three close woman whose lives are changed by fate fill the pages of this easy flowing and drama packed first novel of the series. Contains some violence and plan language. The series is best read in sequence.
An exceptional book about life what you make of it and the choices you make. Will grew up in Foster Care and has always wanted a better life for himself but he felt as if he owed his foster brother a lot for helping him when he aged out of the system. Even if that came in the form of illegal activity. Will, however, wanted out and more so since he met and started falling for Heidi. Heidi and her best friends left New York to come to Florida to start over, life wasn't easy for them. When she met Will on the first day in their new home she wanted him. Can Will do the right thing to make the relationship with Heidi work? Such a pageturner of a book.
This is a story about a boy that grew up in the foster system and had a boy with his that was older that he considered his brother. When they left the system his brother turned to crime as a way for money and took him along. They are taking risks but making money. Heidi moves to Florida to start a new life. They meet and get closer but he doesn’t think she’ll be able to live his life as of now and decides that he wants something better and starts changing his life. At times she acts immature and childish but evenly grows up and sees him as he was. Will they decide a HEA is for them? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This has a slow start but picks up and has a wonderful HEA ending. This has drama, suspense and so much more. Will is an electrician who had a hard childhood growing up in the foster system. His older foster brother pulls him into robbing banks. Heidi and her friends quit their jobs and move to Florida. She loses a bet and has to stay to deal with the electrician. Will and Heidi have sizzling chemistry and steam up the pages. Heidi and her friend Val are a bit immature for me. Will made the book worth reading. He has a good heart and wants to build his business. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A good man you can’t resist. At the beginning of this book, you will be thinking there is no way this is going to have a happily ever after, but it has one of the best ones you’ll ever read. We’ll meets Heidi when he comes to repair the electricity in their house in Florida. He thinks he is the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen and leaves that his phone number, in case there’s trouble with the electricity. Yeah, right. He wants her to call him for him. They are just so cute together and hit it off so well. Will has a secret he can’t tell Heidi, but Heidi trusts him and makes him a better man. A really good book with a great happily ever after. It will catch you by surprise.
Ali you hit the nail on the head with this one. We watch as a guy who knows all to well what life in the foster system is like and as an adult try as he might to get out of the life he became apart of. Meets the perfect girl for him and both try to have a good life. But as all stoey go it has it's highs and lows but in the end these two make it work. I hope that you have more books just like this one about some of the same values or close to it. I definitely give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy
