Unexpected Lover

Rate this book
Falling for America's hottest hunk was unexpected.

Why am I the one being summoned to find Will Barnes?
One of Hollywood's hottest stars.
Sure, my good friend is engaged to his buddy, but really? Me? Right Now?

Come on, just one of his many successful movies flopped so cry me a freaking river.
I've got bigger fish to fry.
I'm just trying to scrape enough money together to pay rent at my little theatre.
And, pardon me, but I don't have past fortunes to sit back and rely on if things crash and burn.
But apparently my teenage hormones are still large and in charge. So, off I go.

When I find him, I'm surprised he is a lot more interested in my theatre problems than his movie flop.
Damn, that's definitely a major turn on.
When I left his house the next morning, yep that happened, we had a little business arrangement that might open new doors for the both of us.

His big Hollywood people have other plans and I'm just in their way.
When it's all said and done will we go our separate ways?
Will money, greed, and fame pull us apart?
Sh$t, by this point I'm not sure I really care.....or do I?

I really enjoyed this book and Will and Sam were great characters. They both were hit with a lot of life's challenges. Will was on top of his world until bad reviews surfaced from his latest movie. Sam's dream of being an independent movie theatre owner starting crashing with financial woes. Fate brought them together and they were each other's salvation. Emotional and steamy as they support each other's dreams. Well written and easy to read. Once you begin you'll find this book hard to put down. Entertaining and emotional.

Dnf- I read as far as "realized I couldn’t take it any longer. I knew the crew could handle things for a little while, and I quickly sprang out of my chair and locked the office door before returning to my seat.
“OK,” I said, settling into my chair and letting my hand slide down my pants. “Just a quick little break and then back to it.”

Within a page she's told her business is failing, she starts thinking of him, starts masturbating.....and that is the dialogue during her work day. No wonder her business is failing.

Sorry. May be my last of this author...

I didn't want to put this down! Will and Sam are absolutely imperfectly perfect! I love this fun twist on a Hollywood romance with a little mystery thrown in for good measure.

This book has a little bit of everything that I love in a book. There's sass, humor, heartbreak, steam, a good plot, well written characters, and more steam.

Will being the drummer with the Lover Boys, was stoked to do a surprise show. He's acting was at a super high until the last Quicksilver tanked in not a good way. Introduce Sam and the chemistry was off the charts. Noah got Sam to talk to Will and make sure he wasn't off on binges and doing no good for his reputation. However they came to a conclusion and started an Indie movie. Lets say from there the rockets were in the air and the both get the HEA.

A sweet story, though a little too short for my liking. I loved the characters, they are strong and sweet and honest. The chemistry between them is good, though at some moments I felt like the interaction between them was a bit precipitated. I liked the plot and that it is part of a series. Though I've missed the first book, it did not interfere with my reading and I shall definitely look for the other ones too.

I like the author usually. But this is the first book of hers that I just couldn't finish. For some reason nothing in this story or characters appealed to me. I struggled to get into the story and two days into it, I hadn't read more than 60+ pages and gave it up.

This is an interesting story with great characters and with a believeable storyline/ plot it’s also very well written and I enjoyed this story immensely. Will used to be in a band but now he’s a movie star whose latest movie is a big flop, he meets Sam who owns her own movie theatre but it’s suffering financially it’s losing money. When they meet it’s instant attraction but they try to keep it professional but their chemistry is too hot to ignore. This is a great story and I recommend this book.

Unexpected Lover

This was a great story with believable characters and issues. Will an action actor and former band member and pepper who owned an old theater were thinking their careers were over as they knew them ..together they produced an indie film he starred in and Sam directed. It did well after many setbacks both professional and personal.

An Action Hero And A Theater Owner Must Reinvent Their Careers! A Satisfying Read With Mature Characters And Great Chemistry.

Will Barnes, in his mid-thirties, is Hollywood royalty and king of the box office. The Viking-muscled action hero gave up his rock star status over a decade ago. After some struggles, he made a meteoric rise to fame of a different sort when he was cast as the lead in the Quicksilver superhero series, which is on its fourth installment.

Unfortunately, he knows even before walking the red carpet that the latest movie will destroy his career. It really is that bad. And although he just shows up and reads his lines, he will take the fall just as much as the director that tanked it. Because his agent has pushed the lucrative superhero scripts his way at the expense of broadening his roles, he has nothing to pivot to. If he is lucky, he will get the opportinity for a comeback in a year or so.

Sam, probably late twenties, is the proud owner of Hi-Point, a small independent theater in Silver Lake. When she decided to buy it three years ago, she had a vision of restoring the historical building to its former glory and showing the latest foreign and art house films. She used all her savings and took out loans to make it happen. She poured three years of her life into her vision, even gave up men. But now Hi-Point is going under in a few months. The slim profit margins have been eaten up by increasing taxes and rent, and soon Sam's savings will run out, leaving her no choice but to close for good.

Sam is happy to get her mind off the news and go out with her friends. Scoring tickets to the premier of her childhood crush's new movie, Quicksilver #4, is thrilling. One of her best friends, Pepper, recently got engaged to one of his best friends and former bandmate, Noah. She has met Will Barnes a few times recently, though they hadn't really had a chance to talk much yet. When they cross paths at the event, their gazes connect, and when they start talking they quickly realize how much they have in common.

Sam and Will's story is about having the vision and courage to take risks and pursue dreams. It is about reinventing and pivoting. They come into one another's lives when both are forced to totally rethink their careers, and they forge forward with a shared passion. Of course it wouldn't be Hollywood without some drama, but the theatrics are kept to a minimum. The focus is on the couple denying their feelings while trying to maintain a professional relationship. The chemistry betweem Will and Sam is so electric that the couple doesn't stand a chance keeping things strictly professional. They deserve their HEA!

This story is well-written with only a few very minor errors. The plot is thoughtful. The characters are well-developed. They feel like real people. The story follows the book "Dream Lover," which is Pepper and Noah's story, but it reads perfectly as a stand-alone. The POV alternates between Sam and Will. I rate this book 4.5 stars.

This book is simply amazing! Sam and Will are amazing characters who meet through friends, find common ground and interests and pull each other up from the bottom. Will is an actor who's latest superhero movie turns out to be a flop when the new director takes the film in a whole new direction. Sam owns a local movie theater that is struggling to stay afloat. They've met before as her friend Pepper is engaged to his friend Noah. When Will's agent tells him he needs to lay low for a while after his movie flops, he finds himself trying to drink the disappointment away. Enter Sam. Noah and Pepper ask her to check up on him as they see he is starting to spiral out of control and everyone is worried. She agrees and the two really hit it off. One night of passion at his house has her finding a screenplay he wrote years ago on a shelf and he demands she let him read it. She loves it and thinks he really should give it go. Having seen her movies that she directed in college, he's on board with her to make it. He finds he is also falling for her but his agent steps in. She wants him to get back to the big movies that make her big money and has Olivia, the actress she supplies for the lead female role, try to seduce him and drum up press. Sam, who has been falling for Will too, catches Olivia kissing Will and refuses to let him explain that he wanted no part of it. When the truth of what he agent has done is finally revealed, he fires her and when the movie premieres at Sam's theater, he finally gets the chance to explain and finds himself back in Sam's arms.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the second book in this series about members of a former bans, the Lover Boys. In this book, Will is the drummer and is now a famous actor in Hollywood and the star of an action series. Will is about to have his latest movie premiere and it is not good. The film flops and Will wonders if his career will recover. Sam owns a theatre in Hollywood that is on the brink of closing. Sam shows classic movies and writes a blog. Sam went to Will's premiere in hopes of talking to him, she is friends with Pepper, Will's friend Noah's fiancee. Will sees Sam and he remembers meeting her, he also wishes for another chance to talk to her. After the horrible movie, Noah asks Sam to talk to Will and try to cheer him up. Sam finds Will and they have a great night, but agree to it being a one time thing to forget about their problems. While Sam was at Will's house, she saw a screenplay he wrote and she loved it, she had the idea to make it into a movie. Will agreed and they started the process of getting funding, but Will's agent tried to get him to star in another action movie and forget about his screenplay. Will and Sam grow closer but agree it is only until the movie is over. I really loved this book, i loved Will and thought he was down to earth and didn't think he was entitled like other celebrities. Sam was hard working and a strong woman, i love how she wanted to keep the theatre open and show classic and have it not about money. I think Sam and Will were great together. Will needed to fire his manager from the first scene she was in, i hated her and didn't trust her. I am looking forward to reading more of this series.

A MUST-READ, action-packed, and a sure romantic delight!
Imagine for a moment that you get the opportunity to have a one-off with the man who starred in every dream – day and night – every romantic fantasy you had as a teen, every adult fantasy thereafter. What do you do when the possibility of that fantasy becomes a reality? Do you take the chance? Do you jump right in or protect a heart that is fragile? These describe Sam’s dilemma along with the unexpected opportunity to spend a great deal of time with her child/teen-hood crush in the present. What follows that opportunity is something I will highly recommend. UNEXPECTED LOVER is outstandingly well-written, the characters are so real they become book-friends, and the plotline is so compelling that I fell asleep holding my Kindle, my glasses still on my nose this morning! I absolutely adored author Aubrey Wright’s DREAM LOVER, but UNEXPECTED LOVER is even better! He’s an A-list actor on the downswing, she is a theater owner turned director, and what they make is – well, yeah. Readers will have to purchase UNEXPECTED LOVER to find out what happens! I voluntarily read an early copy of UNEXPECTED LOVER, and this is my honest and VOLUNTARY 5+Star review. I absolutely love UNEXPECTED LOVER and will once more STRONGLY suggest that you purchase your copy of UNEXPECTED LOVER today! Happy pages! 😉

This love survived against the odds!

Will was an internationally famous actor whose last movie release had been a total disaster. He previously was at a band, Lover Boys. Now, he had been reunited with his long-lasting scholar crush, Sam. She had owned a theater in Silver Lake, although she had secretly kept her desires to become a movie director. Since he thought his career was over, totally depressed, he invited Sam to pass just a one-night with him, no romance, no feelings, and no-strings-attached fun. This night became the realization of their own dreams as a screenwriter and as director for each of them when Sam discovered his screenplay hidden in his apartment. Now the possibilities were opened, but expectations came over them and were challenging both to separate them by fake situations and false pretenses. ¿Could it be possible to overcome jealousy and false expectations, to pursue their dreams?
This time Audrey Wright gave us a glimpse of Hollywood movies scheme, with great knowledge about the film business. Into these scenarios, our characters develop their interactions, exposing their dreams, their feelings to become greater human beings, surrounded by fantastic and true friends that keep them in place on the right road. Entertaining and amusing writing, even more, if you like movies because of the ones you found in their dialogue.

Great storytelling with a dose of scheming - sweet, romantic and not so obvious ending

This story is a mix of several tropes from the romance genre and I really liked it. This technique added another dimension to the story. The plot was very well thought through and with unexpected twists and turns kept me as a reader interested and didn't allow me to put the book down. Characters were very likeable and it was easy for me to relate to what they were going through. I hope there will be more from the "Lover Boys" universe to read about.
I really liked that the story was built around issue that a lot of us could experience in the real life, that we are often pigeonholed, either in our professional career or in private life. The longer we are stuck in such situation the harder it is to break out of that. We should be able to do what we were dreaming of doing and be happy and successful. Often times in pursuit of success especially lead by the others we forget what is most important for us and that we should feel good with ourselves and not to be afraid to give our dreams a chance to become true. Great, moving read with a lot of romance and hotness. There are some villains and very well measured dose of manipulation and intrigue that got me guessing what will happen next and who is "good and bad guy".

Their chance for success in their career and in love!
by sewsummore

Sam was the owner of a small movie theatre on the verge of losing everything while Will was an actor with his latest film a big flop, two people in need of a lucky break. At one time Will had wanted to be a screenwriter and had written a screenplay that he had wanted to sell to a producer, instead he was signed up by an agent and made movies instead. Sam had complete her studies at college with good reviews from her professors but no job offers and instead directed her attentions to managing her theatre. When she is shown Will's screenplay she was excited about it, so excited she told him he would have to make the movie and he agreed if she would direct. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and a lasting romance. This book was a quick read that I enjoyed reading. It had a lot of background information of movie making which was interesting as well as the antics some agents get up to in promoting there stars. More importantly, I enjoyed the characters ambition and drive to succeed and their chance for success both in their career and in love.

Wow this book was amazing! What I liked was that it was so different to anything i had ever read before. Will, the Lover Boys drummer and International movie star meets Sam a movie theatre owner and wannabe director on the Eve of the biggest movie flop of Will's career. Sam is bright, intelligent, enthusiastic and warm and certainly steals Wills attention. Im not giving anymore away but this book gives the reader a sneaky peek into the background behind making movies and star power. Both Will and Sam are so likeable and one can;t help but pull for them as they work their butt off to make their dream a reality. There is lots of drama, manipulation, tension and steam In this story. Exactly what you would expect from a fine Aubrey Wright novel and this one is no different. This is part of a series featuring the boys from the band Lover Boys; and can not wait to learn more about the other guys in the band and the women they come to love. Fantastic book!!!

Will is a sought after actor but his latest super hero film tanks at the box office. Sam owns a little theater and went to school to be a director. She goes with friends to Will's premiere to show support. However when she tracks him down later to see how he is doing sparks fly between them and they end up back at his place. After an amazing night together they hang out the next day and Sam finds a script on his bookshelf and starts reading it. Will is stunned when she tells him about studying to be a director and loving his script. Its not long before they start talks about making it into a movie. Will they get their chance to make it into a hit movie? Can their attraction within stand the Hollywood drama?

This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first page until the last. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

ONE FLAMING TREAT!!!
Delectable!  Aubrey tosses out one smoldering hot gem with a side of simmering delight! A smokin' storyline and blazing plot rocks this bad boy from start to finish. Aubrey really brought out the heat in this block busting bombshell with on point realism that spins so intense, bursting with emotions propelling this gripping jewel to life spectacularly. The tension is thick, the intrigue plentiful, the chemistry combustible and the connection is skyrocketing. Twists and turns abound with a few glitches, bumps and bruises welds this bad boy together flawlessly. The characters personalities are authentic, relatable and realistic with depth and solid individualism that blends and flows smoothly. The scenes are so graphically descriptive it paints a wonderful backdrop that gives the illusion your right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Awesome job Aubrey, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Fantastic Hollywood romance following along with the lives of the guys following their stardom as the Lover Boys rock group. This is Will’s story who was/is the drummer for the teenage group. Will’s dream was to become an actor and he’s done that is a spectacular way. Unfortunately, his last movie was a flop so he’s home licking his wounds. Sam is a good friend to the group and gets volunteered to get Will living again. Upon meeting again Sam explains her woes about her small theater. It isn’t long before there’s an attraction and the couple decides to work together. Sam went to school to become a director but she got disheartened by Hollywood’s attitude so she bought a small home town theater. There are ups and downs as in every story by Ms. Wright as well as heartbreak. I received a complementary copy of this book via Booksprout and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Wright. I’ve especially enjoyed the Lover Boys series.

I am in LOVE with the Lover Boys!!

Unexpected Lover is book two in this series. I would recommend reading Dream Lover first just so you know the characters as Noah and Pepper are in this story as well.

This book centers around Will who is the movie star and Sam who owns a specialty theater. Will’s new Quiksilver movie was a bomb so he’s a little lost in life at the moment. While Sam’s theater has been loosing money because people go to the big movies rather than the more eclectic ones.

The two had a bit of chemistry when they first met in the last book and the heat gets turned up to full. At first they are just distracting each other but as their bond grows they begin to bring out the best in each other as well. You could say they help and become the best versions of themselves.

You will instantly fall in love with Sam, who has a great passion for artsy films and her friends. You will also have an instant connection to Will, whose career just hit the skids after the fourth installment of his Quicksilver blockbuster series is lackluster, art best. When Sam is requested to check on Will, she figures she'll find him and see he's okay and move on. She'll go back to worrying about her theatre and the pending doom in its future. Man, is she wrong. The connection that seemed there when they'd meet a couple of times is off the charts strong. Okay, one time, they agree. Ha! One time could never be enough. They have so many commonalities it is like coming home. The Bakersfield Bride is a project that you couldn't have imagined at first, but is so perfect.

Aubrey Wright has written another great book! This one is about Will, at the top of his stardom, and Sam, living her dream of being a theater owner. However, both get a wake-up call when their dreams and careers take a nosedive. They become each other's saving grace. The only thing I wish for this book was that the main characters could have more of a build-up of sexual tension. I wanted to feel their attraction, not just read that they have it. I loved the interaction between the characters and how they encouraged each other's niche. Their love of old movies helped their bond with each other. When reading this book I kept envisioning a Hallmark movie. This book would make a great, steamy, yet sweet, in my opinion, movie.

At the breakup of his Rock band, Lover Boys, Will, the drummer, realized his child's dream and become an actor. He is successful until a new producer comes in, and changes what was going so well. The new movie is a fiasco, and he has to put "his career on hold". Will's mood is going down the hill. At the same time, Sam Turner's old theatre in LA, is not going that well. The money doesn't come. Will's friends (re Dream Lover) are asking Sam who shares with Will the same interest in movies , to find him, and try to distract him before he makes the headline . Sam, has had a serious crush on Will for a long time, so when they become involved in a special project together, anything is possible.
