While best friends Sonya and Evie are taking a road trip through the California desert to celebrate Evie’s last days as a single woman, Sonya becomes infatuated with a handsome stranger. After she and the man share a night of unbridled passion under the stars of Little Boy Canyon, Sonya realizes she’s made a huge mistake and breaks things off with the man before even getting his name.
Unfortunately, this man isn’t someone who takes no for an answer and before they know it, Sonya and Evie are thrust into a living nightmare when the man chases them relentlessly through the desert with revenge on his mind and murder in his heart.

This story was a little underwhelming. It started out good with the intrigue, mystery and betrayal, but then it fizzled. The villains in the book weren’t even that dangerous. All they wanted was money. D was somewhat of a maniac, but he really wasn’t even that intimidating once you figured out he was a sadist enjoying the games he was playing. He wanted Sonya and would never have hurt her if she agreed to be with him.
I found the cops in the story ridiculous and unbelievable. They were almost the comedy relief. Evie was way too forgiving for my taste. Who just forgives her best friend for having an affair with her fiancé? I know they were in a life or death situation, but that doesn’t mean they are cool. Yeah, I would have come back for her, but no way would we be able to maintain our friendship. Nope!
This story started out okay but the longer it went on I realized I didn't care for the characters, one being a liar, cheater, and hypocrite, another completely clueless, and people they meet either outrageous, prejudiced, or perverse. This is also the one thing I had the biggest trouble with -- how unlikable each and every character was to me. I kept reading hoping they'd somehow redeem themselves but no. I have no idea how this friendship between the two main characters could possibly survive but ...yeah. One also has to suspend belief when trying to figure out how the villain manages to keep showing up and disappearing into thin air, even though there is no explanation, not even a paranormal one. The side character Dan turns into David somewhere and back into Dan. Evie "jiggles" a lot toward the end and a lot of the descriptive language used throughout the story seemed a bit awkward. I'm not sure how this book got so many high ratings. The whole story left me pretty confused. Had the character arcs been worked out better and had the whole narrative been fleshed out a bit more, I might have enjoyed this author's work more.
Brilliant!!!! Absolute perfection!!!! Thank You so much Stacy-Deanne for writing such an unforgettable, spine tingling masterpiece. I'm so in love with your work. This author is Highly recommended!!!
This is the first time I read a book that the woman didn't get the man. Weird feeling. The book was okay. I don't know if I would have been so forgiving. Bish slept with my fiancee. No cool. You were my friend.
Sonya was definitely jealous of Evie's relationship with her fiance and he took advantage. Evie was a true friend. Needed one more chapter to wrap up the end.
This was a good read. My attention was held from the the beginning until the end. Sonya and Evie have been best friends for years since college. Sonya decides to take Evie on a trip through the desert, so Sonya can take pictures of the different scenery, plus she wanted them to have a girls trip together since Evie will be getting married to her fiancé Broderick. When they stop to eat at a roadside cafe, Sonya sees a tall handsome man with eyes that just drew her attraction to him. Sonya decides to listen to Evie to talk to the stranger and from there the craziness begins. There are a lot of plot twist and turns that caught me by surprise. I could feel the emotions of the characters of being scared, mad, bewildered while trying to get out of the dangerous situation they were in. I highly recommend this book to read, especially if you like thriller, mystery and suspense. Cassandra H.

This is my first time reading this author and what a tale she has weaved in this book! The plot is different and has a lot of action and twists and turns in it. It’s a fast-paced quick read that is pretty good. I can’t say I’m going to want to read it again, but I’ve also read a lot worse. I’d have liked it better if it had been drawn out more, as it does seem rushed at times. But if you want an action packed interesting short story then this is it!

I could not stop reading this book until I was finished. Great storyline with unexpected twists and turns and surprise suspense. A true thriller with a touch of humor.
