Cute story . The climax had the potential to be a little more than it was and the ending was too perfect. I did like the subject matter which nearly all couples face after years of marriage.
Lost for Words: The Nomadic Sisterhood Book 1 is by Paula Kay. This delightful novella is a continuation of the story of Isabella and Thomas. It was wonderful to read about old friends again. I loved their story which was told in earlier books. This one was just icing on the cake. Isabella and Thomas have had a wonderful life in Italy. They had first been childhood friends, then their love had grown. Thomas had been there for her when she wrote her first books and was thrilled when she began writing again or at least trying. He sent her off to visit her friend, Nina who lived in Indonesia, hoping to refresh her writing. She also had in mind to meet a friend which whom she conversed. The closer she came to meeting Ryan, the guiltier she felt. Could she betray Thomas? Would her writing come back ?
I have read almost all of the Bella books, and this is the first time I've been disappointed. It was predictable and the characters were flat. Certainly Thomas who has the same one line throughout the book..."I love you" but he had virtually no part in the book, but also Bella. She was just a mousey female winging her hands over her midlife crisis. Of course she can't write... She had no passion for anything. And, unlike the other books, which were wonderful with bringing the venue to life, there was virtually none of that here. Ms. Kay dialed this one in. And because she's a good writer, she did a good job of that and the book is an okay easy read, but a disappointment in view of past books.
Isabella longed to return to her writing career, but it wasn't happening. She confessed that she felt empty and inadequate. Hoping to get rid of the writer's block, she decided to take a trip to Indonesia to visit her friend. Attending a writer's conference in Bali was also very attempting, although for the wrong reason. She was forced to decide what her main goals in life were. Relax as you take the trip with her and witness the struggle that is raging on the inside. I'm sure you will enjoy the read.
As soon as I began reading, I recognized these characters from a previous series by Paula Kay. It was a pleasure to reconnect. I often wonder "what happens later?" We get so into characters that they become like real friends. And I love reconnecting with old friends. That's something special that's happened to me in my life. I could also relate to the temptations that arise when we begin to feel the drift that happens between loved ones over time! And the story reaffirms that real love lasts a lifetime if we take care of ourselves first!
The main theme of the book is writer’s block, but more significantly what’s causing the lack of words coming to the author. It’s a feel good book with a relatively uncomplicated plot that makes it a quick read. I enjoyed the story but would have welcomed a little more details and depth.
I was so excited to read this book. Once again I was mesmerized by the characters that carried over from Legacy Series, A Map for Bella, and Legacy Series Reunion Collection. Those 13 books gave me hours of enjoyment and so did this sequel book. Thank you Paula Kay. Well worth the purchase!
Beautiful, educated woman with loving and supportive husband, perfect children, and enough money to travel feels "empty" and has writer's block. To cure those woes, she flirts with another man risking her perfect life. Bella was not unlikable, but I just couldn't find any sympathy for her. Maybe it's just not my type of book.
Romance that isn't just about physical romance. This novel is about what real life is about, our own feelings and struggles that cause us strife in marriage and friendship. A friend's honesty can be helpful if we listen and take those words as helpful as they are meant. A thought provoking book every married woman shou!d read.
I have read all previous Legacy series. The only problem is once started, I can’t put them down. Dreading the day when there are o more stories about this wonderful family.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book when I first started it but as I went on I was so glad that Isabella had enough sense to not sacrifice her husband and her family for a friend she hardly knew. Great story with the best outcome…
Wife, mother, friend, writer has lost her focus. Detail sketchy of how she goes about finding that focus and meaning. The sketchy details make this book easy and quick to get through.
Sweet, well written but predictable book. Kind of a “coming of age book” for pre-middle age women who get caught up in marriage and child rearing and have lost some of their drive and miss it.
Easy reading book. Plot was promising and story flowed nicely with lot of intrigue but end was unexpected but wimp. Could have been little more shocking and interesting.
The cover was more interesting than the book. Just because you pick an exotic location (Bali) doesn't make the novella more well written or worthwhile. Characters were OK. Plot was sub-par. Yawn.
