Undercover in Central Oregon
My rating is 4.5 stars

As I read the methods used in the rescue, I marveled at how the author came up with them! Her detailed descriptions enabled me to envision exactly what was happening. I never would have been able to come up with all the things they did, though! Perhaps it’s good I didn’t go into a career with the FBI. . .

Edge of Truth is filled with intense, action-filled suspense as Jeff and Kara attempt to stop a drug trafficking ring in Central Oregon. To complicate matters, they are undercover investigating Jeff’s stepbrother, Eric! The tension between Eric and his family being so likable and me wanting justice to prevail was great! I kept trying to come up with feasible ways Eric could be innocent despite the evidence that appeared to be mounting.

Filled with a rich cast of characters, this first book of the Law Enforcement Heroes series kept me guessing with its many twists and turns. The budding romance between Kara and Jeff was believable. The fact that neither felt it appropriate to fall in love with their partner complicated matters in a delightful way.

The spiritual battle waged in Kara’s heart was one seeking to understand how a good God could allow her to be harmed if He really loved her. She was also very angry at the evil things the drug lord had done; the lives harmed. She truly wanted revenge. Finding the truth in all this was a genuine struggle for her.

Lovers of suspenseful fiction with a touch of romance will enjoy Edge of Truth!

I really enjoyed seeing how Kara and Jeff learned to work together for the task they were given. They had to go undercover for their jobs at the DEA and it it nothing like they expect.
I also liked the faith part of the book. Kara not only had to rely on her partner, but on God as well to keep her safe and to see the operation through to its end.
This was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to more in this series.

Two DEA agents.
One undercover mission.
Lives changed forever.

Inspirational romantic suspense is my second favorite genre to read in fiction and I love an author who can write well in it. I was pleasantly surprised to learn this was Kimberly Johnson's debut book in the category! I think her writing really shone in Edge of Truth , it had everything I love about romantic suspense in it.

I loved the balanced pacing of the romance and suspense. My heart rate really picked up towards the end when all the pieces started to come together and danger mounted! I had my suspicions on who was behind the attacks on Kara (other than the drug lord's hit man), but the author did a nice job of keeping me guessing. I think one of my favorite things about Jeff is how he helped gently guide Kara back to the faith she lost when things went bad in her life. He not only shared his faith, but lived it in everything. There were lies Kara had told herself about how God handled things and I like how Jeff was able to get through her defenses with words of truth. I think that made him a real hero in my mind! Seeing them work together and eventually fall in love was fun to watch. The hard won happily-ever-after is the ultimate reward for me as a reader.

I was hooked from the first page until the ending! I'm glad I took the chance to read this because there wasn't anything I didn't like about it. If you like getting caught up in a well-written and well-paced suspense story full of likable characters, then Edge of Truth is for you!

Kimberly Rose Johnson has done an excellent job of transitioning into the romantic suspense genre with her latest novel. I enjoyed the story because of the suspense and action. I appreciated the faith revealed in several of the characters and the growing awareness in Kara that God is still good even when bad things happen. He is not to blame for them but is with us as we go through them. Kara had to come to the point of recognizing her faith was not worth much if she failed to allow God to draw her closer during those extremely difficult times. Some make the mistake of turning from Him, but that is the very opposite of what God is seeking to accomplish. Even as Jeff sought to protect Kara physically while they worked the case together, he also sought to help her gain a new perspective on faith. They made a great team. Besides the ever-present danger in which Kara seemed to be, I cannot imagine being in a situation like Jeff was when they went undercover in Operation Trail Ride and his brother was a prime suspect. I realize such scenarios are real, and possibly more frequent than we know, but I am not sure I could tackle an assignment like that. What an exciting first book in this new series. I received an advance copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

Jeff is an DEA agent from Miami and he has been assigned to hunting down a drug trafficking ring that is taking him to Oregon . Jeff's half brother Eric is on the DEA ‘s radar as being involved , so now he has to go see his step brother he has not seen in seven years and try to convince him that he is there for a friendly visit , which is far from the truth . . Kara is a DEA agent as well and she is running for her life after an undercover sting operation falls apart in Miami . She is assigned to a new case in Oregon to work with DEA agent Jeff Clark , but what she learns is her new case is connected to her former case in Miami. Can they keep this job professional and pretend to be a couple to help solve the case or is pretend on it's way to being real .
Jeff , Kara , and the other cast of characters will keep the reader on an action filled adventure . Enough action for the men and plenty of romance to please the ladies
This book as romance , suspense , action , and a message about god .
Great job Kimberly I see a great future for you in Christian suspense / romance . Clean romance but their is still a lot of chemistry between Jeff and Kara .
Can’t wait to read more suspense / romance books from this author .

I consider this book to be a true gem! It's filled with suspense and a baffling mystery that had me suspecting almost everyone, but then surprised at the end twists that I didn't see coming. The excellent, descriptive choice of words contribute to the building and the maintaining of the suspense and mystery throughout the book, words like "the staccato of their shoes". Although we may not relate to Kara's anger towards God, I still think readers will be able to easily understand and relate to Kara's feelings that God had abandoned her, evidenced by the bad things happening to her. Kara had a misconception, thinking that because God promises to never leave us, life will then be easy and not complicated. We often are drawn to those same misguided thoughts. I love this quote: "I'm sure God would be happy if you went to church more often and read His Word on a regular basis, but He doesn't hold that against you, Kara. He love you regardless of what you do or don't do. That's why it's called unconditional love." ~ a profound truth! I am amazed at caliber of the author's debut in this genre, and it has caused me to be impatiently waiting to read the next one!

Wow is the first word that comes to mind. This novel is a fast paced story that will leave you wondering who did it and why. Kimberly Rose Johnson has written a great set of characters that will keep you on your toes. I really enjoyed getting to know Kara and Jeff. The character development was well researched and left this reader loving them. Will Kara and Jeff be able to resist each other? Will Kara live to see tomorrow? These are just a couple of the questions that you will ask as you turn the page for more. Two DEA agents. One undercover mission. Leave lives changed forever. I look forward to the next case! I received a ARC through the author. I positive review was not required.

I enjoyed reading "Edge of Truth". I liked Kara and Jeff and found them to be genuine and relatable. The book was well written and kept me guessing to what was going to happen with all the twists and turns all the way through which was nice. As I read, I kept going through the different characters trying to figure out if they were a "bad guy" and I was surprised in the end. The characters exhibited personal and spiritual growth throughout the story. I look forward to reading more books by Kimberly Rose Johnson.

I've never had a book capture my attention from the beginning like the "Edge of Truth". I was immediately immersed into major drama. The storyline is an action-packed mystery with suspense and a little fear. I was never bored one time, I was always on the edge of my seat. The characters were uniquely portrayed, but the Author did not leave out the important factor - "faith". What a marvelous book! I would encourage you to read the "Edge of Truth" by Author Kimberly Rose Johnson.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This review is one hundred percent my opinion.

I have not listened to an audio book before and I’m glad this is the one I was able to try out. I loved listening to the story and hearing the different emotions in the readers voice. This story is packed with danger at every turn. Kara has her cover blown and now must lay low to make everyone think she is dead. Working as a DEA agent is dangerous but I admire those who put their lives on the line to clean up our streets from drugs that seem to be everywhere.

This story takes place in a small town that Kara went to high school at. I found it fascinating that she was sent there with a partner to uncover a drug ring. I though Kara and Jeff made a great team. Jeff I think had a very hard time being back at his step-brothers ranch. It isn’t easy to investigate a family member. One of the things I really liked about Jeff was his determination to keep Kara safe. She has gone through several close calls and I was beginning to think her body couldn’t take much more damage.

I loved hearing about the undercover operation and how strategic the plan needed to be in order to capture the dealers who were running drugs across the border. Jeff knows something strange is going on at the ranch. The investigation takes several twists that put Kara and Jeff in harms way. I liked how the author used Jeff to reassure Kara that God loves her and that she needs to trust him. Get ready for an adventure into the world of undercover work that exposes the ugly side of drugs.

I received an audio copy from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Edge of Truth by Kimberly Rose Johnson is an exciting romantic suspense book. I really enjoyed the fast-paced, edge-of-the-seat action and, of course, the romance. A blown undercover operation leads to a new assignment and yet danger follows Kara to Oregon. Suspicion of drug running lays heavy on Jeff's family member. The characters are strong and believable with strengths and weaknesses portrayed throughout the story. There are lots of twists to the plot (who would have thought there was a drug-trafficking ring in Oregon!) that kept this reader's 'pages turning'. I had a hard time putting the book down. Who was trustworthy? Where was the relationship with Kara and Jeff going to go? And threaded throughout the suspense is a growing faith in God--made believable by the questions about God, why would He allow things to happen and then realization that He hadn't abandoned but was there all the time, working through the situations.
Readers who enjoy faith-based suspense filled stories that have a touch of romance will not want to miss this book--family, faith, and love. If this book is the beginning of a series, I'll be looking for more to read! I listened to a complimentary copy of the audiobook, and Sybil Johnson did a great job narrating Kara and Jeff's story. I was not required to write a review, and the opinions are my own.

Danger and romance are hot on their heels...

It's been quite awhile since the last time that I read a Kimberly Rose Johnson book. And, while I enjoyed that title, a romance, I think I discovered one that I like even better. Edge Of Truth was an exciting read with lots of twists and turns. Could the incident in Miami be connected to what they've been sent to Oregon to investigate?

Danger and romance abound in Edge Of Truth, but, I think it was the variety of intertwined story threads that made me enjoy the book as much as I did. The struggles with faith when things go wrong and the messiness of family relationships are things that most readers can relate to in one way or another. Don't get me wrong, Kimberly Rose Johnson still delivers an exciting adventure-filled story that will keep you guessing. Just when I was pretty sure I had it all figured out I was still in for a surprise or two.

As with the previous Kimberly Rose Johnson book I listened to Edge Of Truth in audiobook format. The production and sound were good, no glitches that I noticed, and the narrator was a good match. I enjoyed this audiobook quite a bit and I hope to either read or listen to more of the Law Enforcement Heroes series...

This is an excellent romantic suspense read by a new-to-me-author! Edge of Truth starts off with a bang, literally, a bomb goes off on like page one or two! Which sets the action in motion and was a fantastic beginning for this type of story, I knew at that point I was in for an edge-of-my-seat thrill ride, and boy did this book deliver!
The characters were wonderful and so well drawn. I really liked Kara, she was tough and independent, but at the same time she was also very willing to accept the help of Jeff and their fellow law enforcement officers, and she didn't take stupid risks by trying to prove she could take care of herself, I loved that! I loved Jeff, he was so protective of Kara and cherished her so tenderly that it warmed my heart!
I loved that this story takes place on a ranch, that's one of my favorite settings!
This story is SO good, it kept me engaged and enthralled throughout!
I listened to this book in audio format, and the narrator did a fabulous job bringing the story to life!
While this was my first read from Kimberly Rose Johnson it most definitely will not be my last because I am now hooked on her writing!
I loved everything about Edge of Truth, it's a fabulous romantic suspense and I highly recommend it!
I am so looking forward to the next book in the Law Enforcement Heroes series!

I enjoyed this audiobook. Kara and Jeff were a great pair to get to know. They weren't well acquainted until Kara's cover is blown (literally) with a major drug cartel in Florida. Then they are partnered for a job that sends both of them out of their comfort zone. Luckily both have ties to where they are sent but that can be both a benefit and a detriment.

I like that I didn't KNOW who the bad guy was. I could guess and think I knew but it wasn't immediately apparent. I also liked watching the characters develop as people and as partners. There are obvious feelings there on both parts but they are professionals and must act the part. Especially when acting means pretending to be a couple.

It was good. 4/5 for me.

Thank you to the author for the review copy of this book via CelebrateLit. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and the opinions stated above are 100% mine.

The audio book is quite well done. The narrator’s ability to produce unique voices for each character and to sound authentically Hispanic amazed me. This dramatization adds to the characterization and enjoyment of the story. The one thing I miss with an audio book is not having the text to check if I’m not quite sure what was said or want to look back at something. Now, about the novel itself: a dramatic story that races through an overwhelming amount of trying circumstances and dangerous situations as two DEA agents undercover try to bust a big drug ring. It especially appealed to me since it’s set in my area of the country—Central Oregon—so it’s fun to hear about familiar locations. The author did a great job with plot, realistic characters, suspense, and surprises. Family dynamics and faith also play an important role. This looks like it will be an exciting series that I hope to read more of. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.

"Edge of Truth" by Kimberly Rose Johnson is a really fast paced story filled with suspense and danger on almost every page. This book really makes me appreciate uncover policemen and agents more. It just really points out the danger they faced to protect us.

This book is a clean read but it is about drug trafficking. The romance is fun and this story shares truth about God. I am going to share my favorite quote in the book," I'm sure God would be happy if you went to church more often and read His Word on a regular basis, but He doesn't hold that against you, Kara. He love you regardless of what you do or don't do. That's why it's called unconditional love."

I think this book was a little more exciting listening to than than if i was just reading it.

I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

This story is a clean, Christian suspense romance, that will hold your interest throughout the story.
It centers around two DEA agents, Jeff Clark and Kara Nelson.
Kara was working undercover in Miami when she got shot. To stay away from the drug lord that wants her dead, she has been sent to Oregon, to help bring down a drug ring in Oregon. Since Jeff has family there, he also goes undercover without his family’s knowledge.
As the story progressed we discover that Kara has lost her faith and that Jeff is a man of faith. The attraction is evident, but Kara is resisting getting involved with Jeff for various reasons.
The story is full of suspense, whodunit, bad guys, good ones, a strong female character and of course , romance.
This audiobook was my introduction to this author. An author that I will continue to follow.
It was well narrated by Ms. Sybil Johnson.

Typically, I enjoy reading books for myself. However, I occasionally enjoy listening to audiobooks. So when I had the opportunity to review this audiobook, I knew I wanted to listen to it. With a storyline centered around two DEA agents, the story involves danger and suspense.

The quality of the audiobook is good, and the narration is good. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. The narration seemed to capture the emotions and actions of the story. This is a Christian suspense novel filled with action. The book takes twists and turns that kept my interest. With step-siblings and more there are relationships in this book that are worth and reading or listening to in my opinion.

I enjoyed this audiobook, but I think for myself personally, I would prefer to read it personally.

I listened to the audio book. Tha narrator did an exceptional job.

Absolutely captivating book. I loved the suspense, mystery and the general flow of the story. No dull moment. I appreciated how the chemistry grew between Kara and Jeff. I admired how protective he was over her and how driven Kara was. She never allowed anything put her down. It was beauty to read how Jeff's faith influenced Kara to renew her relationship with God.

If you love crime, mystery, suspense and a thrilling dose of action and adventure, you'd love this book.

I listened to an audio version of this book
I loved the way the story went. Definitely with a bang. From the start to the end, it was on thrilling ride after another. Kara had to learn to let go of her anger and trust that God was in control even when it was hard to do so. It was definitely a trying process for her but I'm glad she was able to pull through. The action too was definitely a fun part. I was definitely eager to know what happens next.

SUSPENSEFUL FROM THE FIRST PAGE ALL THE WAY THROUGH!

Ms Johnson says this was actually her first novel that did not get published updated. It truly shows what a superb story teller she was born to be. I have yet to find any of her books that disappoints. She makes you fall in love with her characters because they are so real.

Good Read

I really enjoyed this book! It was full of suspense all throughout the novel, and had a blooming romance. It's also Christian based, so it was a clean romance, nothing graphic like in a lot of novels, and had many references to trusting God and having faith in difficult situations. I highly recommend this book!
