Humanity is heartbeats away from extinction!

After the Super Summer flu’s un-deadly aftermath devastated the United States, Scarlett and Twila are amongst the last Americans accepted into the only safe zone in the country: Last State. Once again, they find themselves in danger. But, escaping the oppressive dystopian dictatorship of the Elites isn’t the only thing they are running from. The undead are learning!

In exchange for a happily-ever-after life with Ella, Justin vows his dedication to Last State despite the creepy line they cross—invading citizens’ privacy in the name of homeland security. Stuck in the Big Data Think Tank from Hell, Justin discovers harrowing atrocities. He goes rogue, determined to rescue Ella before it’s too late.

Meanwhile, Dean and Luther prefer the easy-going lifestyle in the well-fortified western town known as Boom Town. However, once the Enforcers pull out of their peaceful settlement on the outskirts of Last State, Boom Town turns into a free-for-all. From X-strain hordes to ruthless marauders, each day brings a new challenge for survival.

A handsome stranger enters their lives in the nick of time as the battle for humanity intensifies. Coincidence or fate? Despite the personal beliefs, hopes, and fears they each face, one thing is evident. A malevolent force, cosmic or supernatural, is hell-bent on erasing mankind from history as if humanity never existed . . . Unless Scarlett and her dedicated friends outwit the evil ravishing Earth.

This on-the-edge-of-your-seat zombie series has a paranormal-metaphysical twist that will have you questioning your own existence. If you enjoyed The Girl With All the Gifts and The Stand—you’ll want to read this!

About the author

A.D. Popovich

A.D. Popovich was born and raised in Louisiana. At the age of fifteen, she moved to California with her family. Living in California was a huge eye-opener for her. California meant freedom. "Well, back in the 70s it did."

After meeting her husband, life has been one adventure after another. They lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a while—absolutely wonderful. Several years later they made a wrong turn and ended up in Florida: too many tornados and alligators. They returned to California and set-up their own business, The Cosmic Shirt Company, for about two years until the Bankstas caused The Crash. Homeless for a while, “Yes, really.” They finally managed to get their feet back on the ground after obtaining super-boring jobs.

After several years of working in the mundane world, A.D. Popovich decided it was time for a change. She focused almost every second of her free-time focusing and visualizing her childhood dream—writing. She is busy working on the second book in The Dead Series “Only the Dead Don’t Lie.” She strives to write compelling, scary, survival stories with a touch of the metaphysical about the average guy and gal, (not a hitman, superhero, military expert, reporter or socialite).

When asked what people find surprising about her, she replied, “Hmm, the people who know me from my working-world life were super-surprised when I told them I had published a dystopian novel. They were like . . . ‘Whut?’ They were just getting used to my metaphysical side. Now they really think I’m weird. It seems odd to me as well that I like to venture to the dark side in my stories. Also, I’m super-girly; most people are surprised that I was in the Army Reserves. In fact, some people actually don’t believe me when I mention I had served in the military.”

This book is really two, conflicting books. One is a fairly decent zombie story which has the potential to be quite good if given a little more attention in the writing. But that extra attention, instead, went into the other book of fringe theories about the dangers of fluoride, and 5G which can only be combated with the healing powers of crystals…

Loving this series!

I was hooked on this series after the third chapter of the first book. Now, it is all coming together, will Scarlett, Dean and the rest make things right or will it be the end of times?

“You must make your own destiny . . .” the wind whispered.

"From what the Silver Lady had explained, every word, silent or spoken, every thought and intent, every action and reaction was recorded in an esoteric Book of Life, the multiverse of souls for all beings. Her vision warned of something far more devastating. A malevolent entity wished not only to obliterate humankind but to delete them from the Akashic Records as if they had never existed in the first place. The Silver Lady had forewarned Hu-manity was in a void state, on the verge of extinction based on the sequence of future events involving Scarlett and Twila’s actions." - Scarlett Lewis

Escaping California with the plan to move to Texas wasn't perhaps the best of plans. Once Scarlett and Twila arrived, they were placed in quarantine... Then auctioned off as if they were less than animals. Being unmarried was now a crime, and any single female of sixteen and older were auctioned off to the highest bidder.

"The government had resorted to dystopian anarchy. Women had lost their rights and were treated more like property. Machine guns were mounted around every corner. They obviously hadn’t developed a cure for the Super Summer flu." - Scarlett

Scarlett and Twila's only hope for salvation lies with Zac Padilla. Zac... The only man that Scarlett can't forget... Or fully forgive. Finding her way to Zac's Ghost Creek Hunting Lodge, ran by one of Zac's "wives", Scarlett and Twila begin to feel safe... At least, for now...

"That was it; the people had flocked to the Zones like sheep while the Elites culled the herd to their advantage. Society had traded their hard-earned freedoms for safety. . . Until the day they woke up and recognized the true enemy: a totalitarian one-party state."- Shari O’Hara

Justin and Ella find themselves in a bit of a quandary. Justin has just been promoted to a secretive think tank so they are moving to a better apartment. After a terrifying creeper attack, Ella discovers she's pregnant. What should be a joyous occasion soon devolves into a horrific nightmare from which they can't awaken...

Riveting! Haunting! Terrifyingly inspiring! Only The Dead Don't Die: Last State grabs you by the throat and shakes the marrow in your bones... The subtle nuances, the "in your face" action sequences, the subliminal messages threaded throughout... I highly recommend to ANYONE who wants a thriller that Makes.You.Think... "Could it be?" " What if...? " It begs the question: are WE headed down this same path, and if we are, can we stop it in time?

I can not express to you how amazingly awesome this series is! The author has created a very unique zombie filled world for her readers to dive into.
Things become godawful for Scarlett and Twila. They finally made it to what they believed to be a safe haven only to be auction off to the highest bidder. Things have changed and women have no rights anymore, unless married, then they are still treated like property. It seems the new government has finally found a way to control all of its citizens. Zac is out on his smuggler mission and can not be reached. Dean and luther have a thriving business in Boomtown. Ella and Justin are living the life in Last State, or so it seems. Then BAM!!!!! All h*** breaks loose. Last State is not what it seems. The creepers are getting way smarter. The enforcers are in full effect.
It seems almost everyone is coming to terms with their special fits and finally listening and learning how to use them. I'm supper stoked that there seems to be another book coming! This should become a t.v. series. I think it would be better than TWD.
