Vampires old and new, strong and sensual, with desires both predatory and protective. Their attraction is fierce and fascinating, and their love is eternal. We believe they deserve a very special kind of man—and their own happily ever after.
Four best-selling authors bring you their own take on the vampire lover’s story.

In Out of Time by Clare London, the ancient vampire Ambrus tries to protect Edward, a newly-turned young man, hoping to bring him comfort, acceptance of his fate, and eventually love.
In Christmas for a Vampire by Ruby Moone, grief-stricken vampire, Ellis Davenport, faces a miserable, lonely life when it seems the love of his life prefers death to eternity with him.
In A Tale Told in Darkness by Sue Brown, Lee comforts his lover with the tale of Brook, a vampire who falls for his neighbour Michael. When the young man is pursued by someone far more dangerous, only Brook can save him.
In Lamb to the Slaughter by Joanna Chambers, there is very little Lucien St. Villiers enjoys more than hunting for beautiful young men who are eager to learn all that Lucien has to teach them.

Clare London

Clare took the pen name London from the city where she lives, loves, and writes. A lone, brave female in a frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home, she juggles her writing with her other day job as an accountant. She’s written in many genres and across many settings, with award-winning novels and short stories published both online and in print. She says she likes variety in her writing while friends say she’s just fickle, but as long as both theories spawn good fiction, she’s happy. Most of her work features male/male romance and drama with a healthy serving of physical passion, as she enjoys both reading and writing about strong, sympathetic and sexy characters.

Clare currently has several novels sulking at that tricky chapter 3 stage and plenty of other projects in mind . . . she just has to find out where she left them in that frenetic, testosterone-fuelled family home.

All the details and free fiction are available at her website. Visit her today and say hello!

Clare also writes as Stella Shaw and launched a new series of rent boy romances in 2021.

This is a lovely little set of bite-sized (see what I did there 😁 ) snippets into the various different ways vampires can live their lives.

My reviews are on the individual books rather than for this anthology as each is available on its own as well as in this collection.

Just in time for Halloween!

These are four novellas from four authors in the M/M romance genre who gives their spin on vampire characters.

Out of Time by Clare London, the flow of the story started off a bit slow for me but soon picked up mid way into chapter two. Despite the initial flow, I still enjoyed it. The characters and storyline was well written. If anyone deserved happiness, it was Edward. Edward lived a sad and miserable existence and his transition into vampire life actually frees him from it. Ambrus was content in his vampire life but you could tell that he was a bit bored with it and his stumbling on Edward in the filthy trenches in a war zone was a blessing for both men. The story flowed well after the second chapter. The author did a lovely job of maintaining the storytelling through the many decades.

In Christmas for a Vampire by Ruby Moone was a bit heartbreaking. This one tells the story of Eillis and Quinn. This story was done in a Christmas setting, just in time for the holidays and flowed well from beginning to the end. The MCs and peripheral characters’ storylines were well written.

In A Tale Told in Darkness by Sue Brown was my favorite of the four novellas. This novella gives us Brook, an older vampire who falls for his neighbor Michael. In the past, Brook looks for young men to quench his thirst but this he found his fated mate. This story had a touch of suspense mixed in with the romance. This one was my favorite of the novellas in this collection.

In Lamb to the Slaughter by Joanna Chambers was quite lovely. This one tells the story of Lucien who enjoys the beautiful young men he feeds on. Like the other men Lucien has encountered in the past, he was drawn to for the same reasons he’s drawn to the other young men: their beauty and their blood. Only this time, Lucien got more than he bargained for in Marcus. This is a spicy cat and mouse style story with quite a few twists and turns that left you wondering exactly who was the one being hunted.

All of stories were lovely and engaging. The authors came together and presented the readers with four really enjoyable reads. This collection is just in time for Halloween and is a treat to the vampire fans out there.

I liked all of these stories.
All are pacy and fairly well written (a couple of little spellings)
Three told from the vampires pov, one from the human but i did think he was the vampire.
Most are romantic stories but one is a bit more nastier.
Overall, liked the collection. Have read all the authors before.

As with most anthologies this was very hit or miss, quality of writing and story interest varied a lot.

Overall I'd give it 3.5 stars, the only one I'd re-read was Lamb to the Slaughter by Joanna Chambers.

Out of Time Clare London - 3.5 stars I really liked this world, the ability to choose the time they lived in was a very cool idea. The problem was that I wasn't entirely sure that was what was happening until the end, having them change times out of chronological order would have made that clearer. Also I didn't feel much of a connection between the MCs, they spent so little time together and most of that was fighting or having sex that it didn't feel like they could live each other.

Christmas for a Vampire Ruby Moone - 3 stars This was the weakest writing and editing of the stories. Plus it ended really abruptly, like the author had plans for a longer story or didn't know how to end it so they just wrapped it up. The MCs were a bit whiny too. It had potential, it just never got there.

A Tale Told in Darkness Sue Brown 2.5 stars I don't read this author because of bad behavior, but I figured I'd give it a try. I found this way more violent and unpleasant than it needed to be. It started out neat with the story within a story, but then it went a bit off the rails for me. I felt like the author really wanted to punish the characters, and that doesn't work for me. Plus I couldn't connect to them, probably because it felt like they weren't real. I did enjoy the fact that the vampires could basically apparate.

Lamb to the Slaughter Joanna Chambers 4.5 stars This was, by far, the most well written and my favorite of the stories. I loved the twist! The only thing that disappointed me was that it was pretty short, and ended a bit on the HFN side of things. That made me want more though so hopefully she will continue their story. Even though Lucien and Marcus didn't know each other well I felt their connection.

A Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words Review An Alisa Review:

Rating: 4 stars out of 5

I enjoyed this collection of stories, I like how I get the opportunity to read such different points of view and aspects with these collaborations. These all had a theme to pull them together but each author took their own path in regards to the story.

In Out of Time Ambrus wants to help Edward though it takes Edward years to understand and accept their lives. I liked the time travel aspect of this story if even I don’t quite understand it and that in the end the both just want to help others like them. Ellis in Christmas for a Vampire has spent all his time as a vampire mourning the loss of his lover believing what he was unwanted. Their lives throw them together again and we see that they were manipulated by another but I still didn’t quite understand his motivation.

A Tale Told in Darkness is quite the interesting story and seems to be Lee and Cal’s history. I liked that Lee has accepted Cal into his life and how he changed his life for him. The only thing I didn’t understand was that Cal would have to give up his family when he would turn even though vampires were known in the world. In Lamp to the Slaughter we see Lucien who believed himself to be seducer being taken in by the seemingly young Marcus. Their instant connection causes Marcus to change Lucien’s life forever.

I like the simplicity of the cover art and it allows for the variance in the stories.

One story lays out the push and pull between two vampires over a century. When they meet, one is newly turned...the other experienced and wise. They discover the true meaning of "love" together.

A vampire dreams of a lover he lost to death twenty years previous, it's so realistic, his heart is wounded again when he awakens to find himself alone. But is he alone? He has friends and a sire, but he can't stop dreaming and sensing the man he still loves.

There is a story hidden within a story. Cal asks his lover, Lee to tell him a vampire story. The story is beautiful, eerie and startling... and more poignant than you know when you begin reading. My personal favorite story... this one made me tear up.

This collection also contains a story in which no one is who they seem. If you are older and more experienced ... how do you know that someone young will stay with you for the rest of your life?

This is a very enjoyable, skillfully written set of original vampire stories. Clearly, each of the authors involved in this anthology has put a lot of love and care into their story. The plots were all things I hadn't encountered before and I was excited about that! I absolutely would recommend this to anyone who enjoys vampire fiction.

A Joyfully Jay review.

4.25 stars

The Bite Anthology offers up paranormal vampire tales by authors Clare London, Ruby Moone, Sue Brown, and Joanna Chambers. While I enjoyed the collection overall, I can certainly say that some stood out over the others. Each one has a different take on what vampires can do and how they exist. But each one makes the case that vampires can and do fall in love and that is the focus of all the stories. Overall the anthology was good. I felt that the stories could have been a bit stronger and each had a few problem spots, but there is no denying these are four talented authors who have put together an entertaining collection.

This was my first paranormal anthology and each of the unique short stories give you a wonderful little glimpse into their worlds. While I'm familiar with Ruby Moone's books, this story didn't disappoint. It was a little heartbreak keeps you reading. The other stories were good short reads, delving into the world and the relationships quickly, but all of them satisfying.
