Once a spy, always a spy. Alex Toles and Claire Brackett are back in action. Once rivals, the pair of FBI agents receive a summons from President Candace Reid to the White House. Evidence of forced starvation scattered throughout Russia coincides with a growing military presence in the small Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Concerned about potential Russian aggression in the Baltic States and confronting subversion within her Cabinet, Candace turns to Alex and Claire to put the pieces of a growing puzzle together. Looking for answers in the present will mean revisiting the past; a past that seems determined to haunt Claire, Alex, and those they love forever.Claire makes her way to Europe to infiltrate the inner-circle of a group known as The Collaborative. Composed of agents from every global intelligence service, corporate leaders, politicians, oligarchs, and dubious actors, The Collaborative devises plots, dictates policies, installs leaders, and removes them. Claire will need to convince The Collaborative’s newest architect, Pyotr Gregorovich, that she has departed from her alliance with Alex Toles. Her quest will take her across Europe to Kaliningrad, and a secret facility that defies everyone’s expectations. Meanwhile, Alex struggles to balance her family’s needs with a growing urgency to pursue the truth—not just for the sake of national security but hoping to uncover the truth of her father’s past. Enjoy the antics of the Toles’ children. Share some wine with Rose, Cassidy, and Helen. Laugh at the caustic yet affectionate banter between the world’s most unlikely partners. Traverse a world where everyone is searching for more than the truth—for their IDENTITY.

The start of the book involved lots of rather bewildering dialogue that takes a long time to get anywhere, the author seems to be trying too hard to be intriguing. The book is trying to be a domestic drama and a political thriller, but for me it doesn’t do either well.

I am definitely out of step with the rest of the reviewers, but I’m afraid I found the clandestine world the author was trying to portray very unconvincing, probably because I prefer my spy thrillers to be more old school such as John Le Carre.

I got a sense of Deja Vu when I was reading this... 'cause I could have sworn I have read about this already. I suppose it doesn't make a difference though because I love Alex and Cassidy, their family and their extended family in Claire, Jonathan, Eleanor, Candace, Jane... etcetera etcetera etcetera.

I'm eagerly awaiting the next book for something new and to hopefully get some answers!

This was more of the series I expect. More espionage and politics and family … no serial killer. I actually love the author and the narrator and the story (except serial killers - even though political corruption is overall more dangerous it doesn’t freak me out as much in a book).

The series is a 5. The amount of books is frustrating only in cost. And finishing the portion of JA Armstrong’s

Candice and Jameson on horrible kindle text to talk. It is a horrible experience to listen to audio without a real narrator … yet I feel since I invested hundreds that I want to complete the suggested reading order and with vision issues I am really struggling with what was left off of audio in the second series that is overlapping. But disability is disability and nothing the author can cater to.

I hope all those that read traditionally read them all in the order suggested. It really would be worth it.

I am a huge fan of this series but not this book. I wish I had stopped with the previous one, to be honest. This book was shorter than the others and it had a lot of the same material as in the previous books. I liked the turn the previous book took but now it’s circled back to the spy portion again. Also, I couldn’t relax and enjoy because I was waiting for a character to be killed off thanks to the previous books of intrigue and spies.

And, can I just say when someone is sneaking around a building spying and trying not to get caught, it seems especially stupid to be speaking to someone. And for the person on the other end to expect constant communication. Seriously, this seems like basic spy knowledge. As much as I love the characters I’m not sure I’ll read, or listen, to anymore going forward.

I cannot believe how much research the author had to do before writing this series. With each book, the plot thickens in this compelling global thriller that also involves my favorite President Candace Reid from the popular By Design series. I love the way in which Nancy Ann Healy balances the political intrigue involving Alex and Clare with the family love, humor and wine at home with Cassidy, Alex, the kids and the grandmas. Nancy is a splendid writer/storyteller and has chosen a magnificent narrator in Cassandra York who juggles multiple people and performs various foreign accents beautifully. Nancy and Cassandra are definitely a top tier duo. I wholeheartedly recommend this book, this series, and this audio version. It's awesome!

The fight is never really over

“The greatest weapon in any country’s arsenal is the ability to rationalize atrocity—to justify oneself as the oppressor because one perceives himself as the victim.”

“In a breath, the hero becomes the tyrant.”
+ • + • + • +

There's always more questions than answers & more clues than conclusions that means that the fight is never really over. & for Alex, Claire, Johnathan & their friends & families, the wheels never stop turning whether they get off or not.

More Collaborative intrigue

This series keeps you compelled to read it, especially since the previous intentions of the Collaborative have been revealed little at a time in each book. The sins of their fathers have lead to their becoming a tight knit family of their own making, while each of them struggle to make sure the past is not repeated.

Another Great One!!!

Another intriguing espionage thriller tinged with just the right amount of sex scenes. Really makes you think about what identity theft can do. A great read!!

Identity

Alex and Cassidy's story progresses. Love, trust, family is abundant. Nancy Ann Healy tells a compelling story that I hope doesn't end any time soon. I love the crossover with By Design Candace and Jameson. I look forward to rereading the series time and again.

The plot thickens and Alex is being forced someqwhere she is seemingly not happy to go and it is clearly creating friction between her and Cassidy.........the fathers are still annoyingly talking in riddles and the children still are hell bent on finding a truth but will they know it when they see it!
Can't wait for the next instalment and its great that our author has weaved in Madam President and JD!

it’s getting good

Each book continues to be better than the last. One minute you think you know what’s gonna happen…the next you have no idea. It will be a sad sad day when this series comes to an end. Hopefully that’s not for a long time to come.

Not sure if it was a good plan to have this be so short but then again maybe it was time to let this end, I'm just sad that the end left more questions than an ending needed to be. Who knows if the author deicides at a later time to write another book in this series?

At the end of this book, there was a new title for the next book. It will probably be nice, though I am tired of the repetitiveness. I might return in the long future.

This is the sixth book in this series. I couldn't wait to read this new edition.

Ms. Healy also writes under the pseudo JA Armstrong and readers will find that she sometimes interweaves other series into another book. She has taken the characters from her By Design series and melds them together. Although not necessary to read By Design series, I love that she has done this. Of course, it is also an excellent way to draw more readers into her stories.

Identity is very complex and I would suggest reading it when you are alert and have plenty of time because you will want to read "just one more chapter". I can only hope that Ms. Healy writes quickly because this books leaves readers wanting more to answer the numerous questions that it leaves open.

Brilliant

So, I'm guessing here but I'm hopeful there will be a book 7. I really enjoy reading about Alex and Cassidy. But you have to admit both their mother's are gems. I'm sure Healy keeps the best lines for those two.

I'm also glad to see Claire becoming a centralised character. So misunderstood until Cassidy. Claire and Alex are becoming a formidable team. And her straight talking is awesome.

Also, having Candace and her gang in the mix widens the character's as they all come together and all contribute. I love seeing authors combine there characters.

Great book. Awesome story. And characters you can be live in. Can't wait for the next book.
Please hurry!

Another great book by Nancy! I loved the continued exploration of family and of course espionage! Alex and Cassidy can quite literally fill up a bench with all their children lol. But I must say I love when gay couples have a multitude of children as I want that for myself! Anyway, lovely book!

The Spider and The Sparrow!

Partners again and working to save the world! I love Alex and Cassidy! Always have, always will! This is just another great story by Nancy. Lots of intrigue and a little bit of Candace Reid thrown in to boot! All of the characters are interesting with so much depth, you can’t help but love them all! Now it’s the waiting game again. Bring on Concealment!

Nancy Ann Healy doesn't disappoint in this segment of Alex & Cassidy's story. Their love is strong, their marriage continues to endure and there is interesting and decisive dialogue about 'facts' and 'truth'. Nothing is at it seems and even I'm frustrated that the Collaborative fathers don't/won't answer their children's questions. The political morass is sticky but I couldn't stop reading the intrigue. It was good to get back into the lives of the Toles & Reid families. I look forward to the next installment.

My mind is reeling with all the controversial plots in the story of Alex and Cassidy. This book is more than topped with strong leading and powerful women. The intelligence community would nothing less provide a thrilling and thought gripping lines, but the driving force is definitely the love, admiration and the cherished moments shared in these pages. I would definitely read Alex and Cassidy's story over and over again. In the chaos of daily living with dragging the chains of my participation to earn a wage, I am rewarded by reading the continuation story and page turning world of my top most favorite leading characters. Awesome

Exceptional!

Fans of Nancy Ann Healy are returned to the world of international espionage in this latest well written book. I love how characters from one series have places in other series. If you're not already a fan, I suggest you pick up one of her books, sooner rather than later. You'll be glad you did!
