Falling for Him

Rate this book
An aspiring journalist determined to uncover the truth. A football star with more than touchdowns on his mind. Can he convince this intriguing girl that he's more than just a jock?

When Alana Lawson sets out to uncover the truth about the athletic department at Oak Brook Academy, she never in her wildest dreams imagines that she'd find herself turning cartwheels with the cheerleading squad. Alana's life has been far too serious for something like that.

Mick Stevens has been on the football team ever since his first year attending the prestigious boarding school that is his home away from home. But he's into more than just sports and being the center of attention.

When Alana falls off the bleachers to dodge a spinning football, for some reason Mick is there to catch her. And later, when Mick actually asks her to be his date to a party, she can't believe her luck. He could be her in to getting to the truth behind closed doors. That's the only reason Alana would be interesest in spending time with a boy like him...and besides, he couldn't really be interested in her anyway.

Cute idea, Again I feel no connection with the characters in the book, even though we get some insight on Lala and Mick not enough to really care for the characters. Maby still this weird know it all nd bosy character hard to connect with.

Overall it's an interesting storyline. There was a lot of secret stuff and honestly, it's on the verge of not reality. Frankly, Alana got annoying, her redeeming quality is her perseverance despite her downing and drowning self-talk. I think the whole school is a little messed up and surprised it's still open. I am glad she pulled her head out of her butt long enough to see the great guy in front of her though.

This series kinda reminds of the Shy Girls Sweet Romances by Milly Rose. Just very lighthearted, sweet, clean romances. I'm not the biggest fan of the plot. I've never liked where characters are using each other. I feel like the conclusion at the end was a little fast, but other than that, I liked it. It's got a cheerleader/ football romance.

The books are a bit fast. That’s part of the reason I gave it a 3.5.

FMC (Lala) trusts a lot of wrong people along the way. She is not a journalist. She’s in high school. So that premise was a little weird for me.

It was kind of Insta love. But it was clean, only kissing, no cursing.

Mick is great. He didn’t drive her home so hard to know if he has the right to be jealous.

This is a really good book!

The story is original and fun but it felt like it took a while in the middle. Other than that no complaints. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking at a teen romance with a little mystery along with the book.

interesting mystery

It didn’t develop the story enough or the characters. We never knew what they liked about each other besides their looks.
Also, she said she loved him at the end?? They barely knew each other! This was disappointing. The rush of emotions seemed real but there wasn’t enough development.

Sorry - Good premise, but poor explication & development

I actually liked the premise of this story, but there was just too much cringe stuff. Right at the beginning, getting on the cheerleading squad by threatening the QB? Not even. He'd have spun it, his buds would've backed him, she'd have been blown off.

The teeny outfit scene? So many issues there but all end with: Just no. "Lala" (ugh) didn't even have to go out there right away. Why did she? Mean Girl didn't have any more leverage to make her than to keep her off in the 1st place.

That's just at the beginning, I won't spoil it by giving more examples, but the story is also dragged out too long - felt redundant & tedious. The happily-ever-after was a relief instead of satisfying warm fuzzies. Bummer.

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses

A bit disappointing considering the first in the series was pretty good, I found this boring and nothing to it at all
