Second chance romance, which is one of my favorite tropes. Also, small town, high school sweethearts, single dad, one that got away, big city vs small town fortune decision.

Reclaiming Home and Love
This is a wonderful love story that emphasizes the love of family. As a Michigander, it is a joy to read a story that celebrates the beauty of northern Michigan and events like the annual Cherry Festival. The reader comes to care about the characters and what happens to them. However, it bothered me that an 18 year old leaves home and basically spends 14 years mourning her mother's death and the loss of her relationship with her high school boyfriend. She does not embrace a new career or making new friends; she is, instead, mired in the past. I believe she could have returned home after her dad's accident and then discovered new possibilities without making the previous 14 years useless.

Another wonderfully enjoyable book by Olivia Miles, her stories are heartfelt, characters are lovable, and settings are charming and quaint and really give readers a cozy feel!
A Place For Us by Olivia Miles is the first book in the Blue Harbor series, set in the quaint lakeside town of Blue Harbor where traditions are treasured and everyone knows one another. Britt Conway comes home, leaving her dead end life in Chicago, to help run her family’s Orchard after her father takes a nasty fall. But there are unexpected changes afoot - her father seems to be sweet on his caretaker, an eccentric woman named Candy, and her first and only love, Robbie, happens to be working for the Orchard and newly widowed. Being home is bittersweet, as she left fourteen years ago to run away from the pain of her mother’s death, and was burned when Robbie let her leave, but the comfort of being near her father, sisters, the Orchard, and starlit skies reminds her how to be happy again. Her sisters are thriving - Amelia runs the Firefly Cafe near the marina in town, Cora runs a holiday shop, and Maddie is carrying on their late mothers memory by using her recipes to bake pies for the market that the Orchard holds each Sunday, just like their Mom used to do. Bonding with her sisters fills Britt with regret for missing so much. Britt saves businesses from going under, but she can’t seem to decide to save herself, for fear of being let down. The attraction between her and Robbie feels like it always did, amazing, especially as his 6 year old daughter Keira captures her heart. This trip was only supposed to be temporary. Staying in Blue Harbor may be more unpredictable, but being close to the people that matter most to her and working among the fields of the Orchard fills her with a sense of purpose and wholeness that makes it seem impossible to imagine leaving her beloved town. Cozy up with a cup of cider (They make it at the Orchard so it’s fitting!) You will fall in love with these characters and this story. Excited to read the next in the series!

PROBABLY A 2.5 READ FOR ME
Okay, I am obviously in the minority here. But, I have to be honest, the more I read of this book, the more I did not like it.
Britt is one of four daughters of a widower. She was raised in a small town with cousins and aunts and uncles. When her mother dies, Britt decides to tune out on the town, her family and everything.
Now, she has returned because she lost her job. Her father has been injured and is unable to take care of the long time family business. Britt is requested to come home and help her father and the family.
Britt is a management consultant. Her work had been telling companies how to improve their bottom line. So, when she arrives at home, that becomes her focus.
The family business which has been a legacy for a couple of generations can be fixed. So what if part of the fix is to fire long time employees?
This woman is a cold person. I generally expect the heroine of a story to have attractive traits. But, maybe I was expecting too much. Every time I thought I saw some humanity, it was erased.
She does not really like many people. I got the impression that when she looked at her sisters, she saw how they could help the business, not who they are.
I realize I am one of very few, but this book was not for me. I wanted to fall in love with Britt, but, I simply could not.
Ms Miles writes well. I got that there were lots of beautiful women with shiny hair and warm smiles. But, nope even the pearly whites did not do it for me.

Britt returns to Blue Harbor after her father falls and breaks his arm and leg. She was between jobs so she figured what can it hurt to help for three weeks.
What a surprise when she’s told her first love and heartbreak, Robbie, is the manager of the family business. She’s expected to work alongside the man from her past.
Robbie is a single dad of a six year old daughter and definitely not interested in getting together with Any woman!

Beautiful family drama about 4 sisters whe are grieving their mom, along with their Dad. The eldest daughter leaves the family business, orchard at 18 to go to college and never returns except rarely. Many yrs later Dad falls and needs help, Britt just happens to have been layer off so agrees to come home and help run orchard. After being home for several weeks it's time to decide...stay and join the family business ( which she has always loved) or go back to lonely sterile corporate life...which way wi she choose?

Really enjoyed this story about Britt and Robbie. They started out as friends as kids and spent a lot of time together at the Conway orchard. when the graduated they both went their different ways. Robbie is no a single parent back home in Blue Harbor and Britt out of a job and back home to Blue Harbor to help with the orchard that is trying to survive. See how Britt reunites with her family and if she reunites with Robbie. A GOOD READ.

Dear Author: You don't need to make your female lead an insecure twat. Not every career-driven woman has a huge chip on her shoulder, DESPERATE for daddy to admire her; her sisters praise and admiration for her important job, and an ex who is supposed to fall down and confess his undying inability to have a good life without her.... and making the 50-yr old carer a caricature of a low, cleavaged husband-hunter. 🙄

I started following the author after I read and enjoyed another book of hers. This book is a gift from the author for following her. It is a fabulous read. The past love story of Britt and Robbie ended when Britt left town after the death of her Mom. Robbie left when Britt didn't come back. The present puts them both back in town. Can there be.a.future love story for them.

Olivia Miles is on my of favorite authors. I enjoyed this book so much, I read in one day. The story of Britt and Robbie both losing people in their lives they loved and being back in their town. This is a great story of love, family, and the traditions in our lives that live on.

There was nothing surprising about this book. From the first page to the last, it was obvious what would happen. Sometimes that can be ok but I wasn’t in the mood for it and it wasn’t even witty or clever.

This was a good love story. Miles came to tell a story and did so without feeling the need to constantly nail her point into our heads. I look forward to reading more of her books.

I probably rated this higher than i normally would but honestly this book is just exactly what you’d expect - a classic hallmark movie plot - and I eat it up every time.
