Torn apart for ten years, can they reclaim their love?

For as long as Emlan could remember, T’renan had been part of her life - friend, protector, confidant - but when she tried to show the massive alien warrior she wanted more, he left her. When she heard that he had been killed, she couldn't let herself believe he was really gone.

Ten years later, just as she finally starts to move on with her life, word comes that he is alive. At first she is overjoyed, but the protective warrior of her youth has been replaced by a bitter, angry male.

T’renan never wanted to leave Emlan, but neither could he resist her innocent advances. A temporary assignment guarding trade routes seemed like the best alternative - until his ship was captured and he was enslaved in the mines of Quatar. Only the memories of Emlan keep him sane during the torturous years of his imprisonment, but when he finally manages to escape, nothing is the same. He has lost everything else - is he going to lose her as well?

Fate kept them apart for ten years; can they overcome the distance between them and find their way back to each other?

Each book in the Alien Invasion series can be read as a standalone romance. This sweet and steamy HEA is intended for adult readers.

I found this on a “he doesn’t want her” list. It didn’t shake out that way, but I was pleasantly surprised. I read this back-to-back with I Married A Merman, but where IMaM fell short with little plot, Alien Hope had plenty going on. This is the only book I’ve read from the series, and I’m not sure if the story carried over from an earlier book, but I never felt lost.

“My love. My mate. My L’chka.” “My Emlan.” “My Tren.”

The book opens with Emlan preparing for her wedding when she receives news that her dead mate is actually alive. (This is the only part I felt confused with. They were mates but for some reason he couldn’t act on his attraction, so he left for a reset the day after she jumped him and was captured… maybe she was a minor??) Regardless, she quickly dumps the human and rushes off to Tren. Tren has been abused during his captivity and isn’t the same easy-going mate that left her 10 years earlier. In spite of that, they are having sex within the same chapter of reuniting, so it really isn’t a “he doesn’t want her” situation.

My only real gripe is that it takes a bit to get going. We have the first chapter, then go back 2 weeks earlier for a couple chapters to see Tren’s escape. They aren’t even in the same room until we are 17% in.

Bottom Line- I liked it. Once it got going there was plenty of action and all the characters were quite likable. I was actually looking forward for an Okami book, but I’m not sure if it’s coming.

Wonderful addition to a phenomenal series !!

This book was an incredible read!I Tren and Emlan have been in the first book of this series, and it was fabulous reading about previous friends !!!
Tren has been Emlan's bodyguard since her birth. And as she starts to mature and grow into a woman, Tren feels as if she isn't ready to be his wife just yet . So he takes a mission off world , and everything falls to pieces !!!
He gets captured and sold as a slave doing back breaking work in the depths of the Mines......
Poor Tren .....
Emlan has always known that Tren was the one for her. As the very first hybrid human\ yehrin female born after ( sorta) the waiting period , she always felt different. Because she was . Other then her eyes , and horns , she could pass for human. Her eyes, though. Everyone knew she was " Other " . But Tren still loved her !!
When Emlan finds out that Tren is gone, she waits for him . And waits for him......And waits some more.
Tren tries again and again to escape . As a Warrior, he is disappointed in himself that he has yet to do that. When he finally Does get out , he is more disappointed then ever !!!!
This book was full of food and turns , and kept me on the edge, as these two fought to be together. Truly a wonderful addition to a stupendous series !!!!

T’renan touch my heart during book one, his happy ending makes me smile, especially after everything that happened to him during his captivity. And I loved how Emla end up, a grown woman that knows what she wants and dares to get it.
Emla is on his way to the altar when she hears about T’renan; without a second thought, she leaves everything behind to go to T’renan and get the happy ending she deserves, that both of them earned.

We have waited a very long time for T'renan and Emlan's story. Well, it seems that way! He was in the first book as a young warrior in the beginning when the Yehrin invaded earth and Emlan's mom, Emily, became the very first mate to a Yehrin warrior. Tren has been through the ringer, but I believe that makes this story that much more marvelous. Emily was about to get married when she hears that Tren is still alive. She immediately abandons her plans and goes to him. During those years, T'renan has been held as a slave and abused by the Quatarans. He made his escape with an unlikely ally, a Vulfar named O'kami. (I believe we may be seeing him in a future book!) Tren is a very changed male. He is extremely angry at the loss of his sight and the injustice he has suffered. In an effort to calm him, Emlan takes him to Eccalia for a honeymoon of sorts. Tren is learning to find peace there and Emlan faces and unknown danger. I won't give it away. Then Tren is called to negotiate a peace treaty with the Vulfar and things get quite treacherous. Will Tren be able to deal with the Vulfar and the Quatarans and be satisfied with the end results? Will he learn to live with his sight impaired?

Alien Hope was WOW! There is so much story here! Honey really poured her heart and soul into this one and it shows. This book is an adventure, a love story, and a reckoning all wrapped in one edition. Loved it! 5 stars

** I highly recommend you read from the beginning of this series. That is the most adequate way to really connect with Emlan and T'renan's story.

This was a sweet love story between a Tren, a Yehrin warrior, and Emlan, a half-Yehrin and half-human young woman. They have known each other all of Emlan’s life. As the warrior charged with her security, Tren was a faithful guardian and friend, caring for her and keeping her safe. As Emlan got older, she began to have romantic feelings for him, and it was clear he felt the same way. Except that for the Yehrin, they don’t just feel attraction, they know who are their fated mates. Tren leaves because Emlan is still a teenager and too young to act on the attraction they feel. His departure causes Emlan heartache and eventually leads to a tragedy where she is left in despair. Though Emlan always had hope that she would be one day be reunited with her warrior, after 10 years she decides to move on. The stars align for Tren and he finds a way back to Emlan, but much has changed and their love must face challenges and obstacles to survive. I absolutely loved this love story. I could not put it down.

This may be the best yet!
It feels as if I’ve been waiting forever fo Emlan to be old enough to explore her relationship with T’ren. Their story is here at last, and it’s one I couldn’t put down. In the wee hours, when I sought some sleep, my mind kept thinking about what might happen next. It’s a fact. I love these two, with their devotion so deep it couldn’t be ignored. T’gaira, Okami, and Budra, are each key to T’ren’s recovery, he couldn’t ask for better friends and companions. Awesome storytelling!

Emlan and T'renan is not the match I was expecting. How do I feel about him lusting over her mother in the first book and now he has given his honor to her as baby? It feels gross. I don't like the idea of an older male waiting and looking at a young child growing up, thinking that he knows they are meant to be mates. It is very uncomfortable. If he had been away and didn't know, then ok, but when he talks about her coming into her womanhood it feels yucky.
Of course again another warrior with medical issues. These warriors are falling apart left and right.

First, I love this series. Second, this one almost made me cry. The character of Tren is so amazing. What he goes through and how he survives are so well written. And then there is Emlan. She is perfect. All the characters from the previous are in this as the couple try to make a life together but there are some that are determined to destroy them. The romance between the two is strong and intense. It gets pretty hot with these two. Romance, danger and action are plenty in this book.

Alien Hope is an excellent continuation of the series.

Emlan couldn't remember a time when her life was so empty. Ten years have passed since T'Renan has disappeared and feared dead. Try to move on with her life. She agrees to Marry Harvey, a human male, her father, who is unsure if he can truly make his daughter happy, protect her and move on from her past. When news comes just before the wedding that T'Renan is alive, Emlan is quick to seek out him out and help with his history, which has left him scared internally and externally.
T'Renan is a change. He's bitter, moody, unhappy, and feels like he doesn't' matter anymore to anyone, especially to Emlan. He left her to allow her to mature to return to her when she was older. News has reached him that she betrothed and marring a human and his world tilts on its axes. With scars that are imposable to overcome, his life feels bleak.
With Emlan racing to T'Renan's side, what she finds is a fellow patriot that needs more than just her words. She finds herself caring genuinely for him once again, but will T'Renan accept her back into his life, or will he push her away for good.
Read as forces both good and evil clash and a resent event come crashing in on both.
Reading this book is an excellent chose is you love great series, intriguing characters, and a continuing story by a great author.

This fifth book in the Alien Invasion series is quite an adventure. While each book can be read as a standalone, they are interconnected, with characters from Book 4 playing a significant role. The FMC is also the now grown up child from Book 1.

Since the entire series is available, I took a break before diving into this installment to give myself time to adjust to the time jump and the baby from Book 1 becoming the FMC.

The MMC, Tren, has changed significantly since we first met him, having survived time on a prison planet. He and the FMC Emlan get a second chance at love while navigating political intrigue across multiple planets.

Their romance is sweet with spicy moments while also addressing serious topics, including the MMC’s physical and emotional injuries.

This is definitely an adventurous sci-fi romance with plenty of twists and turns.

After my break, I’m excited to jump back into the series and spend more time with these characters, especially as the FMC’s twin sisters take center stage in Books 7 and 8.

Spice: 5/5
Plot: 4/5
Writing: 4.5/5
My Enjoyment: 4/5

Okay, I usually don't do in depth reviews until the end of a series, but this book was so vile and upsetting that I need to say more. This book is about grooming. There's no ifs ands or buts about it, it's grooming. I admit that when I finished the first book, I was hopeful that T'renan would get his own story, but not like this. It reeks of Twilight, the bad parts of Twilight. He's looked after Emlan since she was born, likely changed her diapers, and then they get together? Oh but it's supposed to be okay because she went after him first and now she's 26? It's not okay, she's just a willing victim. I'm no stranger to the fated mates trope, but not like this, it's not okay and it's wrong to romanticize it. The only reason I read this was so I could read the other books in the series with some context but I'm starting to regret that decision. I can safely say that this is the worst book I've read in my trashy book era because Emlan's judgement can't be trusted and T'renan sadly, should've stayed dead.

I tried bu I just couldn’t ... it’s was too WTF for me....

⚠️ Watch out there maybe spoilers ⚠️

Ok,I’m new to Honey Philips and her world. The last book in this series was my first book written by the author
and despite some low reviews due to it being a ménage ( unwanted by some ) I was eager to give her a try.
Not only because I love a good menage ( as long as it doesn’t have m/m or the ménage is only there as a plot point t and not a true coming together of one woman and to men) but also because I love discovering new writers.
I was excited hen I finished Liza’s story to see, another one was soo soon in coming . Emlan and Tren’d story sounded like such an interesting one.
Yeah, well, about that, turns out I couldn’t make it past chapter 15, before the couples almost willingly naïve TSTL behavior was too much for me to take.

Ok, just before Emlan is about to Marty a guy she has soo little interest in,that vein though she’s known fo4 probably over 5 years she knows little to nothing about him,she finds out her true mate is alive.
Sooo she does what to expect. She immediately dumps her groom/fiancé ( who she says she loves but is completely indifferent to him) ( while I can understand not wanting to risk her heart again, especially since she doesn’t really have it to give, but getting married just for the sake of getting married is really stupid)) . But “Harvey’s response ( the groom in question ) isn’t. He calls her a “ itch” and say,” You were never gonna give it up to k3 were you.” That was a HUGE red flag.
Upset or not that is not the response of a man in love. Not even a little bi. I of course could see trouble and perhaps fire shadowing but the uber naïve Emlan didn’t even try to see beyond the surface, but it was a traumatic moment soo I gag her the benefit sh mostly deserved but Harvey DID NOT.
It was a definite red flag.
Anyway she runs to him ,and while it wasn’t everything I had hoped for I was waiting for their story to pick up speed and hopefully improve with time.
Yeah, well, they g to a resort planet to help Tren calm down and recover. They’re maybe there a week when guess who pips up at their door unexpectedly. Yep, if you guessed Mr.Red Flag himself you would be correct. And here’s your cookie 🍪.
But what got me wasn’t soo much that Mr. inappropriate response/Mr. Red Flag had showed up. No what bothered me was that everyone’s only response was dealing w/Tren’s anger.
Share he can be upset but why wasn’t anyone asking ,Why. Are. You. Here.?
No. One. Asked. And there sure didn’t ask how in the heck he knew where to find them. Sure he and Emlan had been there once before but only her family and close friends should hav known where they were ,and NONE of those ppl works have told the jilted fiancé. No. One.
Being a “strong warrior “ is a strength mind as well as body and Tren was soo wrapped up in self pity and anger he ad Em and the older warrior w/them all ignored a threat plain as chai Normas red flag waving right under their noses . I loathe plot points I see coming a mile ways and Em being hurt by this creep should have been obvious to EVERYONE!!!!! Even something blind and seemingly dumb as Tren and those with him. Between his self pity,Em’s foolish naïveté and everyone’s deep seeded bigotry towards humans they were all three just a bit too TSTL foe me.
The final straw after all that stupidity, where they still aren’t questioning how he got there and was able to do all they he did ,. Supposedly all on his own, seriously how did he know where they were ?
Just just want to go and F! Seriously ? I know how you want to feel close and reaffirm life and your connection and all that jazz but w/out going to see a single doctor or medic,w/out wanring to ask anything all you can think of is sex ?
F you TSTL’s . You aren’t worth anymore or my efforts.
I thought if I’m only 15 chapters in and their acting not this TSTL I can’t stick around and see what else their stupidity gets them into.
Ms.Phillips , while I know you have to have drama and conflict to make a story a story,I can’t buoy it when you have to make your characters stupid to do it. Harvey was pathetic and they SHOULD have seen him coming a mile away just like I did .
I wish you all the best and much success but nit wish me.
Thank you for Liza and her mates they were fun.

Anger, angst, and an alien service animal

This isn’t my favorite book in Honey Phillips Alien Invasion series. T’rennan, the Yehrin warrior, has known hybrid Yehrin/ human Emlan since she was born. When she crushes on him at 16 he takes off to preserve his honor (and her innocence). What follows is ten years of tragedy. There is just so much pain and suffering in this novel it was hard for me to enjoy it. The basis for all of it is poorly constructed, and the level of gratuitous cruelty is over the top. Two bright points make it better - the alien creature Tren saves and adopts becomes his faithful service animal is a comforting counterbalance to the unrelenting suffering, and the Vulfar warrior who assists Tren’s escape becomes an unexpected friend. Read this one if you are in the mood for misery.

Alien Hope - Tren & Emlan

I liked Tren from the very beginning in Book 1 of this series. He was a really great guy. I was happy when it came time for his story. Emlan is likable enough, but her inability to accept that she's part alien & part human seems wrong to me. She only wants to be human. That bothered me.

Emlan fell in love with Tren when she was a teen & Tren had to take a job off the planet to wait for her to grow up. He was captured & enslaved, tortured beyond imagination for 10 years, lost most of his vision & is full of anger & rage.

It takes most of the book for Tren to heal & find peace & for Emlan & Tren to get it together. This book made me sad. It wasn't an easy read. I wanted Tren's story to be great, but it was only okay & a bit too depressing. Sorry, but this book triggered my depression & PTSD.

I keep thinking that each book in this series is better than the last and Alien Hope is no exception. Emlan was told her childhood friend and protector since birth T'renan (or Tren) was killed. She was hurt that she lost her warrior, her mate. After many years, she decided to marry a human who was only a friend. Then, before the wedding ceremony had begun, Tren was found alive but he is not the same warrior. She immediately left to go to him. Emlan only wanted her warrior even with a loss of vision and memories of his torture of ten years. Maybe their love could conquer all that had happened to Tren. Although they had a few obstacles to overcome, some major, that love they had for each other never left. I loved the ending! This is an excellent story with spicy romance and some unexpected twists and turns.

Book 5 in this series and what a fantastic series it continues to grow and develop into.

Ever since she was a child Emlan has had a special connection to her protector Tren, that even 10 years of separation couldn’t diminish, believing her love to have passed away...embalm has grown up and moved on. Discovering that Tren is alive after all sets in motion a whole new story arc and wealth of possibilities in this ever evolving world. As well as one off the charts steamy and smexcy romance.

I loved this story. I truly felt Tren’s frustration and anger over his injury. It was brilliantly written and revealed to us a character that was very real to life.

I cannot wait to see where this series leads us and will be ( not so ) patiently waiting for the next instalment.

Amazing book & Series

If reading the entire series in w 2days is any way of explaining how much I got sucked into this intoxicating series isn't a recommendation I don't know what else to say. I enjoyed every book and the way they smoothly flow from character to character. I would love for the series to continue but all great things have a conclusion. Looking forward to more great books from Honey Phillips. Amazing author with many great books in one of my favorite genres that lets me escape the reality of my real life stresses. Happy reading and always start the series from the beginning so you can enjoy the entire scope of characters and worlds.

An amazing reunion for Emlan and T'ren

So happy to see this story included in this amazing series. T'ren has known Emlan was his mate since her birth but a series of events led to his leaving Emlan protect her from his unruly desires until she had grown up.

Captured and forced into slavery 10 years,, T'ren finally escapes and makes it back to Emlan who thinks T'ren is dead and who is preparing to wed a human!

This story is about these two soul mates funding their way back to each other. You will root for them for the whole reading journey. A journey so worth taking. Highly recommend this book.

T'renan Comes Home

Only to learn that his life long love Emlan is marrying another man. His eyesight ruined from a decade in the dark mines and his body full of scars from harsh taskmasters' whips, Tren feels unworthy of Emlan's love. What if she agrees? Will Emlan's be lost to him forever? I've been waiting to read this story since Emlan's and Tren's characters were first introduced. The story did not disappoint me. Sexy lovemaking, action and intrigue, drama and suspense and a very satisfying HEA! Enjoy!

Emlan and Tren's story was very sad consideriNg what Tren had to go through and lost, but it was still a very well written book, within a series I truly hope will continue and shoot off into the Vulfar World. While this is truly about Tren's return to the functioning world, Emlan too has her own issues. Very unique views for both of these characters. Entertaining and heart string pulling. Their story is hot, Hot, HOT!!!
While I read this via Kindle Unlimited I still feel this book worth anyone's time and $$.

Slowest Book / Disappointing FMC

This one was the slowest for me - skipped to the epilogue after the drug/wake-up scene because I didn’t really care what came next anymore.

Poor FMC gets the shaft - she’s a pure damsel in distress the whole time. If thats your cup of tea, have at it.

Great writing as usual, but lowest book in the series so far story wise and character wise.

Wow

Another instalment to the series.

Wounded warrior thought dead return irrevocably injured. Reunites with his mate. This story does have twists and turns. Why was he captured and kept for 10 years.

I throughly enjoyed this story. It was well written with strong likeable characters.

I stumbled across Honey when I had finished another authors books. I have been on a bit of a sci fi romance blitz. Just something to get lost in other than the norm. Where you can do what you want because it is sci fi.

Trust me you will not be disappointed. I enjoyed this one so much that I am now working my way through all her books. Gotta love Kindle Unlimited.

Delighted

This story runs through the life changing events of their lives with ease. 10 years is a long time, but a warrior's devotion knows no bounds, and after what this half earthling half Yehrin woman endures to finally be with her handicapped warrior is a wonderful love story.

*WARNING* contains a lot of sexual content
This is very heartwarming. It was lots of feels. There was even cause for tissues towards the end. This is just such a great story. Yes there's romance and sex scenes, but what Tren goes through is the best part of the story. RECOMMENDED.
