Sigh.....

Sandra Brown is awesome! This book was filled with cheese and romance and broodiness and more cheese. I should have read this book sooner.

If I read this one 30 years ago I am sure it would be a 4 or 5 stars. Jerk of a hero. Seriously, some of the scenes would be totally frowned upon today! LOL. Some of these heroes didn't even wait for the heroines to say "yes" before "jumping" them and getting down to business!!! It's a wonder she wasn't a virgin - that was usually a prerequisite in these older books. Yes, it is SB but it is nothing like the new books she writes. A bit cheesy, no cell phones (how in God's name did we ever survive without them?), no internet. Of course there was a HEA - I would never read a book without a HEA back in the day!

"I quit being a gentleman a long time ago."

An OK read if you just want to chill out and not have to concentrate too much on the storyline ...

You have to keep in mind that this book was written in the late 70s early 80s when there was a different mindset to famles in the workplace. That being said, I still had a difficult time warming up to the main man in the story, Lyon. Treated her like crap, and she still liked him and was drawn to him...wtf? I've never been in an unequal relationship before, but this still erks the hell out of me. I did like the conflicting emotions each had; however, I still think things could've been probed deeper. I only gave this book 3 stars because of the you're a female so you're not as good, smart, strong, etc as me big man is attitude

Not as bad as the previous one I’ve read (Two Alone). I’ve come to like old-school romance stories recently and Sandra Brown (writing under a different pen name) writes them good.

This story is about a reporter, Andrea, who wanted to make a break in her career, proving to herself after her husband died that career was the most important thing of all. She discovered a gem in the form of a retired military officer who is decorated and celebrated, but has become a hermit rancher after he retired from the Army. She wanted to interview him, know his story, but his son, Lyon, was on the way.

This book has cheesy parts and I certainly feel it’s a whirlwind kind of romance. Some parts were too good to be true, which I guess is applicable to most fiction.

It was a short good read. Solid 3 stars.

Ugh, I'm in looove!

This book is my first Sandra Brown's book and it's definitely not disappointing. Even though Sandra's writing, personally to me, isn't as smooth as Linda Howard, I pretty much enjoyed the plot, especially the one in this book.

The drama! I love the drama so much I actually cried while reading it. Lyon's such a bitter man. He tend to assume for the worst and jump to the conclusion without trying to find the truth. His character reminds me a lot of Diana Palmer's signature Hero. But the writing and the storyline are a touch better than Diana's. Andrea is a calm woman but with Lyon, she turned into a minx. Adorable.

I would definitely read another books from Sandra Brown because overall I enjoyed her writing. Look forward to it!

The classic dilemma for smart young women . . . husband and family or a career. A cable news tv reporter longs to be hired by the networks. Her downfall, however, is that she isn’t ruthless enough. On this seminal interview, where she refuses to brutalize her subject, she changes the course of her life.

please save yourself the time and do not bother to read this book. SB has grown into a great writer. some of her other early romance books are quaint, yet enjoyable. but this book is so sexist you will want to pull your hair out.

For the good old days of SB, i tried one of her books i haven't read so far. But there's not much content or quality as others, just the usual junkfood for the brain ^^.

Sandra Brown - back in the 1980s. She was great then, she's still great!

Maybe a 3.5 stars

I really enjoyed this story and how crafty Andrea was. She knew how to work around Lyon and frustrate him. Lyon was a bit of a bully at times but Andrea didn't let him walk all over her. SB writes tough but sweet FMCs that I just love. I wished Lyon was a bit softer at times, but I enjoyed their story overall..

TV reporter Andrea Malone, following in her father’s footsteps, was chasing after a story that would land her a job on network TV and that story was to get an interview with the reclusive General Ratiff. The only obstacle was Lyon Ratiff, the general’s son, who wouldn’t let any media near his dad. Malone devised a scheme to get in to see the General and when Lyon found out, he couldn’t throw her out because the General wanted to give her an interview.

Prime Time was the typical romance story with the male and female chasing one another without admitting it they loved one another. Joyce Bean does a good job in telling the story.

I got a disc and a half in and was actually nauseated. Not Sandra Brown's fault. She warned me that it represented the styles of an earlier day. I am not sure it I would have found this romantic in the earlier day. I hope not, but I don't know. After the first "forced seduction" scene I could see how this book was going to go and I couldn't go there.

This early Sandra Brown romance novel is only unique to me for its setting. Kerrville, Texas, on the banks of the Guadalupe River, recreates a beautiful backdrop. (I stayed there a few times, so this book brings back vivid memories of a fascinating town.)
In this case, the raging river adeptly personifies the angry man whose ranch backs onto it. That said, the story becomes a bit tedious when ambitious television personality Andrea "Andy" Malone visits Kerrville for an interview. Elderly and sick World War Two hero General Ratliff.
Andy is barred from even meeting the general by a aforementioned angry man, Lyon Ratliff. Why is he being so protective of his father unless he has something to hide?
This is what Andy has been sent to discover. Met with resistance, she perseveres and gets her interviews. But it is the constant sexual conflict between Andy and Lyon that dominate the book.
As usual, Brown delivers a well written novel, but one with little depth. To be fair, this book was published in 1983, before the author learned how to provide us with her zinging twists and wow conclusions.
Still, it was worth the read.

Ranit de fosta sotie cand l-a parasit, nu mai are incredere in femei, in special in cele de cariera. Cat timp Andy locuieste sub același acoperiș cu el, ba cedeaza atractiei, ba o respinge.

More than anything else, cable TV reporter Andrea Malone wanted a network job. And it could be hers if she gained a coveted interview with the aging General Ratiff - especially if she uncovered the secret that drove him into seclusion at his Texas ranch. One obstacle was Lyon Ratiff, the general's watchdog of a son. Andrea had a plan, but had no way of knowing how Lyon's unexpected, undeniable effect on her would change everything, how they both would face a storm of suspicion and betrayal - and how Andrea Malone would have to choose between the ruthless demands of her profession and the equally strong dictates of the heart.

The book is almost 40 years old. The hero's father is 90, fought in both WWi and WWII.
The communications sound antique now- collect phone calls, explanation of video, lots of cables.
Andy (Andrea ) is a widow, childless. She became a career woman, but secretly earns for family.Meeting general Ratliff changes her.
General's son, Lyon , a farmer, divorced and disillusioned about women. He suspects Andy's motives , accuses her of being a leech. Then there ius Len , her boss, ambitious ,who wants a scoop at any price .Andy refuses his order.

I had to listen to an audio version of this on a car ride. It is the most cheesy joke of a novel I can possibly imagine. No real story, no character development, just exhausting and descriptive sexual encounters that go on ad infinitum. I can't believe that the narrator kept a straight face reading this tripe. To make matters worse, the male MC had the most irritating and laughable voice that did not match the virile and masculine character being described. This was early Sandra Brown, and I have heard that her more recent novels have a lot more substance.

Had I read this years ago, say, some 35 odd years, I would have enjoyed the book and given a 3.9 star rating.

The plot is not much but will keep the reader going. I finished the book with in a day!
It is obvious that this is going to be HEA. I also guessed there was some little secret that the author wouldn’t reveal until the end, and God! I was right.

That said, I like the recent works of SB better. They have all elements which a good book must have.

Enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book. Andrea (Andy) is trying to interview General Ratliff but his son Lyon makes everything difficult. Loved their chemistry once they got together, but will he ever trust Andy? Felt some heartbreak for them but thankfully there’s a very happy ever after.

Prime Time

I'm sure this book was published some time ago. No cell phones, however that only made the book much better. Technology has made life weird. Have we lost the ability to communicate face to face?. The book had so much life in it and so much bitterness and mistrust. I just wanted to tell Les to take a hike long before she fell for Lyon.

This book is like soap opera in print. It could have been better without using terms like lush breasts and gold triangle. I laughed at the love scenes between Lyon and Andy.Who uses this?! This was why I got burned out reading romance novels.

Andy y Lyon 🥰🥰🥰

The hero was hot and cold. One minute he'd act all holier-than-thou, the next he'd be tearing her clothes off. But in all honesty, she was rather easy. The story was nothing special. The heroine was little more than a wanton doormat. All in all, a well-worded but truly disappointing read.
