Just when you think you’ve given everything evil arrives to take even more...Intrepid reporter Adele Plank is immersed in her most dire and dangerous mystery yet as she struggles to outsmart a brutal adversary who keeps a deadly promise to return to the San Juan Islands and exact revenge for the death of her brother.Adele must determine who can and cannot be trusted while also dealing with a very personal crisis that will forever alter the course of her life.“A fantastic mystery series with a young female protagonist in Adele Plank who is now so much like a real-life friend to me. Plenty of heart-pounding action, great dialogue, and lots of entertaining interaction between all of the fascinating secondary characters. And of course, there is also the magical San Juan Islands. Each new book is like a reunion with Adele, Tilda, Roland, Lucas, etc. Beautifully told and very hard to put down once you start. Please-please-please keep them coming!” —Lydia Perez
Best mystery series…..and set in the San Juan Islands!
Every now and then a book really stand out. The story is interesting, compelling to finish, and characters become so real they feel like friends. There are useful tidbits about life, dealing with adversity, importance of loyalty and friendship sprinkled in.
This series starting with The Writer, has all that, and it has been set in the very special place, the San Juan Islands. After reading the first book in the series, I read the next, and the next, and the next until finishing each book that is available written by Ulsterman. This series has become one of my favorites, I’m spreading the word to other readers, San Juan Islanders, friends and cousins from the midwest and everyone I talk to about books. If you like a well told story, read one, then read them all!
I have enjoyed the progression of Adele's life. The choice of Roland as her lover, the various characters deepening friendships. Enjoy the description of the islands and what they mean to each of the characters. "Smell of lavender" now we have a teaser for the next. Avery smelled and Mariana in Seattle.
Very engrossing and a great read. I Love this book series and can't wait until the next. Anyone who enjoys books that tie together and yet stand on there own and well written mystery will enjoy this series.
What does that tell you. These are great entertainment. Read them in order. Being a boater both San Juan’s and Gulf Islands makes them better but great reads either way. Thank you DW.
Character development Is the autho's skill. The regular chsracters, take a back seat as new chsracters aré introduces and developed. The action and nature writing aré well balanced.
Loving this series. The characters feel like old friends. Be sure to have a box of Kleenex near by. I keep cheering for each character to survive the evil.
Once again I’m captivated and invested with the characters and story. My family spends a lot of time in the islands on our boat, for me it’s something magical. The author has done a phenomenal job capturing the San Juan Islands and it’s people.
The title is a bit deceiving because nothing really happens in this book. There is just a lot of talk about some big danger that is coming to San Juan Islands and coming for Adele in particular.
It appears it is one big set up for the next book. I found myself getting bored and frustrated and I am not sure if I am definitely going to continue with the series.
