This is a pretty great non-Caldecott winning non-text book. I was thinking about using it for my newest student who reads words too quickly. This, along with some comprehension cues will teach him to observe contextual clues instead of just flipping through pages.
Other options for the same type of lesson in my opinion are: Do you want to be my friend, a non-word, or Yo, Yes!, a simplistic Caldecott winner.
