Andy Warhol: The Factory Years, 1964-67

Rate this book
One of the most significant revolutions in the art world took place during the 1960s inside a studio in New York known as The Factory. Nat Finkelstein was there with his camera, documenting not only the gradual emergence of the scene, but also the birth of Pop Art at the hands of Andy Warhol.

A dynamite book full of great images of Warhol and Co. circ the mid-60's. Just right before he got shot. The photographer Nat Finkelstein must have been like a fly in the wall - and the shots he got are really terrifric. What is unusual is that there are some photos in color - and rarely does one see Warhol in colkor in the 60's. Think about it!

As Lou Reed has wonderfully put it about the other book with Finkelstein's pictures: "Lousy text, great photos". This book also has great photos (of great people) and it's also slightly marred by a lousy text: Finkelstein's own misanthropic, profane scribblings.
