Luke: Being a submissive guy with anxiety isn't easy. Just when I thought I had my demons beat, they reemerged from the woodwork to torment me. Luckily I have Adam — my handsome, dominating police officer of a fiancée — to keep me safe. Though he's great at shielding me from danger, he can only do so much to protect me from my own mind. Ever since we moved to New York City, Adam's been on some high-profile detective case and won't share the details. Because he keeps me in the dark about all the "scary stuff," I can't help but feel the rift between us widen. Thankfully, we're immersing ourselves in the NYC kink community and learning more about that forbidden, fascinating world. Adam makes me feel like a deity in the playroom, and that keeps our bond intact. Will it be enough? Or will my anxiety monster tear our relationship to shreds?
Adam: Luke is my everything, and I'd do anything to keep him safe. Which was why it was nearly impossible to tell him about my current investigation, knowing that his worry could send him reeling into a crippling anxiety meltdown. I have a new police partner that I don't trust yet, a new city to protect, and a killer on the loose that's targeting guys strikingly similar to the love of my life. The cozy life I've built with Luke in our Brooklyn Brownstone is the only oasis I have away from my Law & Order day-to-day, and I'll do anything to keep it untarnished. The more I try to protect Luke, the further away he seems. My obsession with keeping him safe might just cost me everything. Our saving grace is what we do in the playroom. We're making friends who are into the same things and learning all kinds of kinky new tricks. But there could be a killer lurking in their midst…
**This is the long-awaited sequel to my MM Romance best-seller, Bossy Bottom, but it can be read as a standalone novel. Power Bottom has more kink, heart-pounding arrest-the-bad-guy excitement, a mystical tarot reading, and real talk about mental illness. No cliffhanger, no cheating, and HEA guaranteed. Readers can expect several extra spicy scenes that would make a ghost pepper jealous.
Sadly this book had a lot of the same problems I had with previous book, in that it trys to focus on so many areas that everything falls flat and seems rushed.
The exploration of mental health, anxiety, jobs, romance, friendships and bdsm are all interesting topics. Yet its very messy jumping between each without giving any chance to properly show any growth.
Adam and Luke spend plenty of time apart in this one too, with lots of lack of communication and keeping thoughts hidden. In fact both have better friendshio development in this one then romance, as Luke finds friend in his fashion classes and Adam with his partner on the job.
The story could have been great as the detective parts are fascinating, along with Lukes style and designs are fun concept. Yet all fast paced and seemed to speed through, so didn't get to appreciate as much.
Overall I did enjoy getting to see more of Luke and Adam, I onluywish had been longer to have allowed more developments or split, so each area could have been looked at further 💕
Trust and faith. There is never any doubt that Luke and Adam love each other. Luke suffers anxiety attacks triggered by worrying about Adam's job as a patrol cop. Adam serves to protect his city and Luke. There is a serial killer abducting and killing Luke look alikes. Luke and Adam enjoying exploring the BDSM community. Can Adam keep the city safe? Can he keep Luke safe? Does Adam have a suspect? Can he collect evidence? Can Luke make it through design school and deliver a power runway? Will Luke ever get control of his anxiety attacks. Nice story. Good study about mental illness. Can they find friends in the BDSM community? Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
There were some problems in the beginning of this book, the fact that Luke knew the name of the Old women and then she introduced herself a couple of paragraphs later, was annoying. There were a couple of other issues for me, the couple had a sexual encounter early in the book but it wasn't described. I would have like to know more about their kink earlier to see if I was interested.
I did however continue to the end. I liked how Luke was able to get more control of his anxiety and how Adam finally started treating him like more like coping adult.
I don't know if I would read another but this was an okay read with some interesting aspects.
I’m glad that I read this second book in the series - so many of the threads started in the first were resolved. I’ve grown fond of the characters and, although I felt that there were passages that would have benefited from some more decisive editing, nothing got too much in the way of an enjoyable read.
Loved Book 2 of this series as it was a continuation from Book 1. Poor Luke, he just couldn't catch a break. Luckily, Adam is so over the moon with him and very loving, kind and patient but not to the point of smothering. Just want their story to continue forever. Always happy to see a HEA and an epilogue. Simply perfect.
Luke is accepted at Parsons and Adam is accepted by the NYPD. As they settle into New York, Adam and Luke become more encompassing with their kink at the same time a serial killer stalks the city. An excellent follow up to Bossy Bottom. The characters are expanded and given more depth as is the secondary character of Adams partner.
Again, I loved this book .. It was sweet sexy .. However, again they kept so much from each other . Adam especially never shared anything and was always hitting things from Luke .. Why even it he thought Luke was fragile he should have been open and honest .. He's lucky he didn't loose him
