Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

RAINS OF REMORSE is the fifth book in the series, but it does stand alone. I read this story in spurts as I was on deadline for my job, but it was easy to keep up with.

Ms. Barritt comes up with unique plotlines and I had fun trying to figure out who the "bad guy" was. No, I didn't guess, but it appears as if "he" was all-knowing as he appeared where she was when she made an unplanned stop. I was caught by surprise!

Fast paced and engaging, fans will want to read all of Ms Barritt's books!

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Typical Barritt style of writing. An inciting incident in the opening scene, then the characters spend the rest of the novel developing their feelings, lives, and the mystery before the end of the novel. It was nice to catch up with Cassidy from the other Lantern Beach series, but nothing really stood out to make this story really that different. I didn't mind spending time reading the novel, but I would like more depth to the mystery.

Wonderful

Two new characters to Lantern Beach and me and I couldn’t love them more. Though of course baby Emma steals the show. After her dramatic entry she’d have to!

"She should have gotten out when she had the chance."

When Levi Stoneman hears a scream from next door, he immediately fears the worst; finding a very pregnant woman on the floor, he prioritizes her needs before contemplating his next move. This was not how he expected to meet Rebecca Jarvis.

Someone is clearly out to do her and her unborn daughter harm; but why? Rebecca Jarvis can't begin to figure it out. Not to mention her handsome new neighbor, who always seems to be at the right place at the right time, she can't quite figure him out either. But who has time for romantic musings; she's about to become a single mother with a fluctuating means of supporting herself as a real estate agent on a small island.

Enjoy revisiting Rebecca Jarvis on Lantern Beach; she's clearly made some poor choices, but she's also brave enough to fight for a second chance. Maybe her new neighbor's appearance on the island is providential, rather than problematic.

I really like this author, and maybe I'm being too hard on her, but I think this book misses the mark.

To be honest, I hate heroines who make dumb mistakes. Like someone who is being targeted feeling like it's perfectly fine to go off alone without telling anyone. And then giving the internal excuse that they don't want to cause extra problems.

That's bad enough, but when a professional investigator completely fails to look into an obvious clue, that's another issue. When the "clue" ends up being crucial, the investigator's reaction is that he didn't think it was worth exploring.

Isn't that what an investigator does? I got near the end of the book and was yelling back at the characters as I listened on Audible.

I still really like this author, but this book was a little on the annoying side.

Happily, fans of Christy Barritt's Lantern Beach series are gifted with another character's story. Of course, favorite sheriff Cassidy Chambers has a few cameos during the drama. I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Life was good and then rotten for Rebecca Jarvis. Now she attempts to sell beach real estate during the quiet and slow off-season. She is thwarted at every turn by a stalker, house break-in and scary vehicle chase. Complicating matters are her last month pregnancy and new rental neighbor, Levi. All the trouble started when he arrived, yet he seems to lend a helping hand each time. Hopefully, she can keep herself and the baby safe while searching for answers.

It was nice to get to know a formerly minor character from the Lantern Beach Series, realtor Rebecca Jarvis, as well as catch up with well-loved characters. Rebecca is pregnant, deserted by her husband then widowed, and worried about the future. Her neighbor, Levie, renting the house next door is new to the island, but comes to her rescue when a masked man enters her homes and scares her to death. But can she trust him? Does he have ulterior motives for befriending her? Chief Cassidy becomes suspicious of Levi and looks for answers. Who is after Rebecca? What was her husband involved in that brought all this trouble to her door? Why is Levi in town and can she really trust him? Another great trip to Lantern Beach!

Lantern Beach realtor Rebecca Jarvis is eight months pregnant, facing life as a single mom after her husband was killed six months ago. A man breaks into her house and her new neighbor, renter Levi Stoneman, saves her from the attacker. Levi is actually with Homeland Security, on an undercover assignment to find out if Rebecca was actually involved in her husband’s illegal activities. Who is behind the threats? Can Levi uncover the truth and keep Rebecca safe? Can Rebecca ever feel confident about who she trusts or is her attraction to Levi another wrong move?

Fast-paced, action-oriented, that keeps you guessing until the end.

This was so good! We've seen Rebecca off and on throughout the Lantern Beach series, but in the latest installment she is front and center.
There were times when I wasn't sure if Rebecca was a good "guy" or not, but in this story her true colors shine.

Once again Christy Barritt delivers a fast-paced story with great characters and action. It kept me guessing until the reveal. Great read!

While this book is shorter that most books Ms. Barritt puts out, it is no less worthy of five stars! I loved following the mystery and suspense (along with some romance) of Rebecca's story. Following another story of the Lantern Beach crew, as usual, had me guessing what would happen next. Although a quick read, I highly recommend you reading it. When you start, you won't want to stop until you are done so get the coffee ready!

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Another Winner!

Rebecca is living alone, pregnant and her estranged husband is dead. Suddenly strange things begin happening to her. She comes home to find a masked man in her house, money has disappeared from her bank account, she's being followed and other strange and scary things are occurring that are unexplainable. A new neighbor next door, Levi, reaches out in friendship to help her but Rebecca is worried if she should trust him. This book is a page turner and I couldn't put it down until he end.

I love the Lantern Beach characters that are constant throughout the series. This story is about Rebecca, who is a young pregnant widowed woman. Her husband passed recently and crazy things begin to occur around Rebecca that start to involve Chief Chambers in the situations. An undercover agent, Levi, lives next door and gets involved with Rebecca as part of his undercover job. There's a lot of suspense and intertwined occurrences throughout the book that kept me wanting to keep reading. Terrific ending! Well worth reading.

My February Kindle Owners Lending Library loan, an easy and quick read. #5 in the series, this one focuses on Lantern Beach real estate agent Rebecca Jarvis. Rebecca is very pregnant, newly widowed and has an interesting next door neighbor in Levi. This was was a quick read (parts were a bit repetitive, so it was an easy perusal). I generally enjoy all of the Lantern Beach books from different series and did like this one, but it seemed a bit tedious and contrived at times. Looking forward to starting the Blackout ones soon :)

Mystery, intruders, a handsome neighbor and an impending birth are the major stars in this latest Lantern Beach story. When Rebecca Jarvis comes home to find an intruder, luckily her neighbor comes to the rescue. This is just the beginning of Rebecca's troubles. Why is she being targeted? Who can she trust? And who is Levi Stoneman, the neighbor who conveniently appears when she needs him? Can she find the answers before she gives birth? Another great suspense book from Christy Barritt.

Help is available

I always settle in for an exciting yet cozy adventure on Lantern Beach and truly enjoy this continuing series of events in friends I've met and new faces to Lantern Beach. This newest romantic suspense story by Christy Barritt is just as exciting as the first in the Lantern Beach series yet keeps growing better as we get to know more about each character and life on this small, supposedly peaceful beach.

Another Lantern Beach story is always welcome. I enjoy reading about the occurrences on this island and seeing Police Chief Cassidy in action, along with the other residents. This short novel involves Rebecca Jarvis, who is expecting her first child soon. Only, she is alone and in danger. Is her heroic new neighbor a savior or a threat? What was her late husband involved with? The action-packed book keeps readers guessing. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Lantern Beach!

Who doesn’t enjoy a good trip to the beach - Lantern Beach, that is! Rebecca is widowed with a baby on the way. A handsome stranger moves in next door. Someone is causing trouble, and lots of it. Rebecca is in danger and that handsome stranger is not who she thinks he is. What can go wrong?

Rebecca’s Nightmare

What were the odds that Levi would rent the cottage next door to his suspect? Yes! But then he meets her. Quickly it appears like Rebecca is the victim rather than a suspect, but he needs proof of course. And his cover story isn’t very good either. Chief Cassidy doesn’t buy it. Not only does Levi think pregnant Rebecca is a victim, but he falls for her too. Not good! That’s only the tip of another great story by Christy Barritt.

“Rains of Remorse” is another great read by Christy Barritt! This story gets your attention from the first page when a stranger invades Rebecca Jarvis’ home. And this begins the many strange occurrences happening to Rebecca. Her neighbor, Levi Stoneman, steps in to help her. But Levi has some secrets of his own.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense novels.

I received this book from the author for my honest opinion.

Sweet Romance

Poor Rebecca, having to become a single Mom because her husband left her and then died. Although the timeline didn’t make sense. She’s eight months pregnant and about to have her baby? It’s been six months since her husband died and they were separated before that? I don’t know how that works. But, I loved Levi and how sweet he was to her, even though he was supposed to be investigating her.

Rainy days

Christmas season on Lantern Beach seems cold, windy, & rainy. Levi, acting undercover for Homeland Security, gets involved up to his eyeballs with Rebecca, local realtor. While it's a good story with a surprise bad guy, it does seem hastily written & prematurely ended. I would have enjoyed a bit more fleshing out. But maybe that's just me. It was pretty good.

Amazing inspiration!

Amazingly suspense and intrigue surrounding a quite little town where danger lurks behind every corner. Two people meet and are thrown together due to circumstances where one needs protection and the other is a heroe who only wants to protect her and her unborn child. This book is filled with drama and suspense and a sweet romance.

A nice read-a bit typical

Even though the plot was a bit re-used, it was still a nice story. And it introduced two new characters to Lantern Beach. I think my biggest irritation is from Cassidy-calling the kettle black much with her attitude? Levi should’ve run a check on her-it might’ve livened things up a bit.

Love anything Lantern Beach related!

The Lantern Beach series is one of my favorites and these spin off books are excellent. We still get Chief Cassidy who we love, but we come to know all the side characters that make Lantern Beach so special!

Pregnant and alone.

Rebecca is about three weeks from delivery when suddenly she's being followed and her home ransacked. Her new neighbor is eager to help, but may not be who or what he says he is. With lives on the line, it's a race to find out who wants her and her baby.
