𝓤𝓷𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓽𝓾𝓷𝓪𝓽𝓮𝓵𝔂, this book turned out to just be OK for me. 😪 I was really looking forward to an 🅐🅝🅖🅢🅣🅨 🅣🅐🅑🅞🅞 read about a father that falls in love with his 𝖉𝖊𝖆𝖉 son's wife. 🙈 What I got instead was a surfαcє lєvєl plot that felt forced. 👎 I am not really sure how to ᴇxᴘʟᴀɪɴ it other than to say everything about it from the plot to the characters themselves 𝕗𝕖𝕝𝕥 𝕠𝕗𝕗. 👀
I struggled to feel any 🅡🅞🅜🅐🅝🅣🅘🅒 connection between 🅼🅰🅶🆄🅸🆁🅴 and Hᴏʟʟᴀɴᴅ. 💤 Which wasn't helped by the fα¢т she is ⏳ Most of the time the 🅡🅔🅛🅐🅣🅘🅞🅝🅢🅗🅘🅟 felt like a father in law taking care of his daughter in law. 👨 That said, I did like both 🅼🅰🅶🆄🅸🆁🅴 and Hᴏʟʟᴀɴᴅ as indivdual characters, so that was a positive. 💗 I also wasn't a fan of the whole "𝓯𝓾𝓬𝓴 𝓫𝓾𝓭𝓭𝔂" Kat situation which adding nothing to the ʂƚσɾყ and again seemed forced. 👎 She doesn't really cause any issues, so I felt she was a 🅟🅞🅘🅝🅣🅛🅔🅢🅢 addition. 🙈
As far as the writing, it was ĎĔČĔŃŤĹŶ written. 👍 It was a relatively ⓢⓗⓞⓡⓣ book, so it moved at a good pace. 👍 Maybe a little too fast with all the time sкιммιηg. 👀 The plot (as I mentioned above) had the potential to be really 🅐🅝🅖🅢🅣🅨 and 🅣🅐🅑🅞🅞. But it never really got there. 👎 So yea, there was some ₲ØØĐ ₮Ⱨł₦₲₴ and some not so good things about this one. 👍👎 I'm going to give this one a generous 🌟🌟🌟 and since I am already 🆂🅸🅶🅽🅴🅳 🆄🅿 for book two I will keep my fingers crossed it works a little better for me. 🙌

A young woman who becomes a widow by the time she is 21 years old and a godsend of a father in law who steps in to pick up the pieces...
But somehow this author manages to make this story poignant, bittersweet and bearable to read just with the pace and the sweetness of her writing.
Holland finds herself alone with the sudden passing of her husband Scott. Believing to be on her own, she is relieved when her father in law Maguire is eager to fulfil his son’s last wishes. Bringing her back to California to help Holland rebuild her life is just the first step. Thus begins a journey of healing and new beginnings for both of them.
Whether it’s grief, loneliness and familiarity, an unlikely attachment & attraction begins to form between Maguire and Holland. Even though both acknowledge the inappropriateness of it; it simmers in the background.

Now this is supposedly a taboo read due to the forbidden nature of the story, BUT Book 1 in the Father/Son Duet was disappointingly tame with hardly any sexual content. Although I enjoyed this book, I actually feel cheated because this story didn’t deliver in that respect.

I had the absolute joy of getting to read an early copy of this book. I will warn you now, it's a tear jerker! Yes, there are funny moments in it, too, but this book is an intensely emotional read that will leave you with the best book hangover!
I used to not be a fan of cliffhanger type books, but I have come to realize the reason was because they weren't well written. Like Father Like Son will leave you begging for more and anxious to read the second book in the duet!

I really enjoyed the chemistry between Holland and Maguire's characters even from the beginning. I think the author balanced the slow burn really well and was written tastefully. That ending! It just came out of nowhere and now I'm eagerly waiting for Part two!

Ughhhhhh…
There was nothing that stood out about this.
Everything felt rushed, not a single character made a lasting impact on me. I really wanted to love this, the synopsis drew me in completely; unfortunately, every-time we were getting somewhere interesting, there was a time hop and we moved on from it. There’s nothing that I hate more while reading books than constant time jumps.
I heard the sequel to this is even more disappointing, so I don’t see myself picking it up anytime soon.

I really did enjoy reading this delightful slow burn story. It was written well, the characters were fun to read and I really felt connected to them instantly which helped me get into this story of forbidden love.
A father buries his son, and a wife loses her husband, connected by grief and the love for the same man this is Maguire and Hollands story about their shared devastation and how they deal with it. First of all, I loved Maguire, he is a strong, proud man who in the throws of grief melted my heart and I just found myself connecting to his easy-going powerful nature. He's consumed with guilt though and the poor man's pain shone through in this story.
Holland I found much more difficult to like. Sometimes I would feel sorry for her and what life had dealt her and other times I wanted to smack her around the head and tell her to watch that sarky mouth of hers and to stop acting like a spoilt brat. Everyone came together to help this young lady when her life was falling apart, but at times I felt she didn't appreciate just how lucky she was. All Maguire wanted to do was abide by his son's last wishes to look after Holland and make sure she is okay; but she sure doesn't make it easy on the people around her, especially Maguire.
This is the first book in the duet by this author and seeing as this one ended on one hell of a cliff hanger I can't wait to get my hands on book two. Well worth the read!!!

Oh lordy! Is book two out yet??
I cannot express how much I have absolutely loved this book!! This story exceeded all preconceived expectations that I had going into it. I thought I was getting one thing and was rewarded with something else entirely.
When I say I devoured this book I mean I DEVOURED this book. From the moment it landed on my kindle I could not put it down. This one blew me away and has quickly become one of my favorite books of the year, and favorite books of all time. I whole heartily loved this book and both of the characters.
This was my first Leigh Lennon book and I must say the writing was phenomenal! I was hooked from the moment I first heard about this book I knew I just had to have it immediately. Just the title alone made me want it, then I read the blurb and knew this was the book for me.
The chemistry and between Holland and Maguire was there from the very beginning and only grows stronger throughout the book as the two heal.
This story is about two people finding love in a very unconventional way. It is taboo and forbidden and just plain beautiful. The very definition of a slow burn.
These two characters find love in the mist of heartache and become each other's rocks. Without one another they would both be lost. The letter Maguire's son leave's him gives his dad a sense of purpose in his life and helps fill the void that his son's death has left. Taking care and providing for Holland helps heal the both of them and a unbreakable friendship and bond is formed.
The cliffy at the end took me by complete surprise and left me needing the next book Different As Day and Night ASAP. I cannot recommend this book enough.

This is book one of a duet so prepare for a cliff hanger to end all cliff hangers. I have been strangely craving a story like this since a real life tragedy made its way onto my Facebook feed. Book one of this duet is tastefully done, despite the taboo. It’s a definite slow burn. So well written and the emotions spring forth from the page. I am completely invested in Holland and Maguire’s story and the love they both have for their deceased loved one, Scott. The fact that they fall for each other doesn’t feel weird. It feels natural. Ms. Lennon expertly weaves it all together and I cannot wait to see how it ends.

Sadly, tragedy’s strikes and Holland finds herself driving 3000 miles in Scott’s truck with Maguire, a letter from Scott asking his dad one last favour! And what father can turn that down.
But, when two people spend so much time together sparks are bound to fly, but Scott left them both with a special package, and they both feel like a line cannot be crossed. Can they overcome the feelings and find happiness or can fate pull them apart.
This ends on a cliffhanger, so I look forward to seeing how this story ends.

Holland and Maguire have that burning tension almost from the beginning to the end but is that tension caused by shared empathy or truly two souls destined to join. Their relationship skirts norms and could be considered taboo on several points but is written so eloquently. All of the characters have depth and play their parts well. I was reading along, forgetting that this was a duet and that they were going to get their HEA, and whoa that ending was intense and unexpected. I cannot wait to see what happens.

She’s my responsibility and yet she’s become more than a simple promise to my late son.
I’m falling for my son’s girl— she makes me a better person.
I’ve been reading Leigh Lennon for about two years now, and I love her stories. Like Father Like Son, the first book in the Father/Son Duet, was instantly enthralling and I read this book in one sitting. It’s a taboo story for sure—Maguire and Holland are incredibly drawn to one another, and their relationship is completely forbidden. After all, he’s the father of Holland’s deceased husband. The age gap between Maguire and Holland was another lure for me with this story since I love age gap romances. I loved reading the progression of their mutual feelings of grief which soon are overcome desire for one another. Although they fight it, those feelings grow and created a sexual tension that nearly jumps off the page.
Tears fall on the beauty of the wood that holds my best friend, or his remains, I should say, when I swear his large muscular arms surround me— and I break. Every fiber of my being holds onto him because now that I have him back, I’ll never let go. Then I turn, only to see it’s not my husband. It’s my father-in-law.
Maguire’s very nature sets my soul on fire. Is it that Maguire is my husband in an older man’s body that has me craving his touch…
…it’s in his arms I can start living again.
Like Father Like Son is well written with a storyline that feels very much like a second chance romance. Primarily because Scott (Holland’s deceased husband) and Maguire are so very much alike, leading Holland to feel like she’s in a holding pattern with an older version of her husband. The story is told in dual POV and as always, I loved diving into these characters perspectives and innermost thoughts. Scott was in the military and ss a military spouse, I will say there were a few moments that I was teary eyed and had to take a few deep breaths. I think Leigh did a beautiful job of layering the grief, desire, and angst that a story like this one deserved. As the first book in a duet, of course, Like Father Like Son ends on a soft cliffhanger, as I expect with any duet or trilogy. This book is set to a slightly slower pace, but the storyline dictates such and combined with the emotional draws the story brings, I was compelled to finish reading the same night I picked up Like Father Like Son. The conclusion to Maguire and Holland’s story releases in about two weeks, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. One-click Like Father Like Son immediately so you can be prepared to dive into Different as Night and Day as soon as it releases!

Authors can write taboo books classy or trashy not in a good way, Lennon delivered on this forbidden taboo treat. Steamy, forbidden, and a bit of suspense makes this a book worth reading. Great writing. Maguire and Holly’s story is a great one.

Couldn’t. Put. It. Down.
It took me one night to read Like Father Like Son.
Leigh Lennon is a new to me author. I noticed her cover reveal of Like Father Like Son and Different As Night and Day floating around social media and they automatically pulled me in. Then, I read the blurbs and I knew I had to be part of the ARC team for her and these books. I was not disappointed.
I highly recommend adding this Duet to your TBR. I am so thrilled I stumbled upon this author and can’t wait to read her other novels.
I usually go for the insta-love stories and can’t seem to get into slow burns... but this one... I am so glad Leigh Lennon took the slow burn approach.
Maguire and Holland’s chemistry was a constant throughout the pages. They’re both battling emotions of losing someone they love dearly while feeling a pull towards one another. Is because of the tragic loss of their beloved Scott or is it truly because they belong together?
Emotions and thoughts are shared in both POVs throughout the story, which I love. Maguire is battling the fact that he has lost his only child, his son, while trying to cope and take care of Scott’s last request. Holland just lost the love of her husband while moving on and allowing Scott’s father to take care of her. Twists and turns keep these two and the reader on their toes and allowing the pages to be turned in rapid speed.
Maguire and Holland are everything. Their story is one that is filled with love, devotion, and patience. Their chemistry is never lacking and the way they bicker is down right hysterical. They each prove that they need one another in order to grieve the loss of someone they love dearly. Neither one of the negates the fact that he’s gone. Scott has given them a chance a live and love even in his absence.

Taboo? Check. All the feels? Check. Heart decimated? Check.
Raw, emotional, provocative . . . This is Lennon at her best!
Like Father, Like son captivated my heart from page one and never let go! It is a complete heart-f**k of a story where grief, love, and lust collide . . . and it's absolutely everything! Sometimes, the heart doesn't get to decide who it falls in love with. Lennon captures this like a pro in this provocative story or love, loss, and healing in such a bittersweet way. This book is full of steamy goodness. The characters are believable, and it was easy for me to relate to them. Like Father is part one of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger, making me eagerly anticipate the second book in the series. Great job and I look forward to reading more!

5 EMOTIONAL STARS!! Wow....This one starts out with a bang and what an emotional ride we take. Holland and Maguire will break your heart, but you will devour their story. Leigh Lennon delivers the goods in this beautiful heartfelt story. You definitely need this book if you are a romance lover.

Oh man... where do I start. I picked this book to read because I thought it would be different. Something so unbelievably tragic happened. Brining two people together that you would never expect. I was all in.
Ok... right away I noticed a couple of things about this book. One Being the writing. I just wasn’t feeling how this story was unfolding. Or the writing style. The words being used.
“Shitake mushrooms,”
“Oh, poop on a stick,”
“Fudge nuggets”
“Crap on a stick,”
How old is Holland?... oh right! 21!!!!
Then this happened a week after the funeral.
“The shower starts, and I wonder how much Scott indeed looks like his father, deep down. I flush at this idea and giggle because I miss my husband so much.”
I mean what!!! If my husband had died a week ago. I most definitely would not be thinking about another mans body! I just can’t believe it!
Then again this happened and I’m just shaking my head. Like what the heck is wrong with this girl.
“Well, shit,” I state the obvious. He must have seen my cheetah print undies Scott loved so much on me. He turns his head quickly out of respect. First, he’d seen me in my birthday suit, now in my skimpy leopard thong.”
I don’t know... I was expecting something a little more deeper in this book. And all this is just 16% into it. But I still kept reading. Thinking things have to improve.
“but my head is as heavy as bricks. Fudge nuggets, not only my head but my whole body. Running my hands down my frame, I realize I’m in shorts. They’re my booty shorts I’d tease Scott with when I was playing striptease. It was one of our favorite outfits and games. Poop on a stick, what did I do last night? These shorts show most of my ass. And were meant for Scott and Scott alone.”
And then this...
“I learned so much about this girl. She mumbles in her sleep and moans. And of course, her sweet yet elicit moans had my cock growing by the minute, getting harder than steel. As I was reading on. I wasn’t feeling anything between the main characters. Maguire seemed more like a caregiver/ father to me. I couldn’t picture them as a couple.
I was hoping to feel sadness, struggling and forbiddeness in this book. I wanted this book to be a little deeper. I only felt the sadness. This book falls way short on the forbiddeness.
The writing... well... wasn't for me.
As for the ending. It leaves off in a cliffhanger. I wasn’t happy about that.

Like many, I love a good taboo romance. Like Father Like Son sounded like the perfect taboo romance to be filled with heartbreak and angst. Thus, I was eager to dive into this one. I’ve enjoyed most of Leigh Lennon’s prior books, and I had high hopes this would be another one I would love.
Although I enjoyed this one, it wasn’t quite all I had hoped it would be. I never really felt the romance between the two characters. There were countless references to the forbidden nature of the feelings they had for each other, but I never really felt those feelings. I’m hoping we’ll dig deeper into them in the next book, as there is a lot of potential once those feelings are felt.
Despite not feeling the romantic connection between the main characters, there were other emotions to be felt. There is no denying this book deals with the heartbreak and angst I’d expected, sucking you into the story. I confess, the ending felt like it came out of nowhere, but the other events in the book certainly work to pull at your emotions.

Oh My Goodness... Leigh's words are phenomenal. Holland and Maguire sigh. I couldn't get enough of this angsty, delicious story. I'm so ready to devour the rest of this duet!!!

I'm not sure what I expected from this book but what I got was underwhelming. Scott (the dead husband/son) seemed like a great guy, so I got why everyone was so torn up over his death. The funeral sounded like something out of a soap opera.
The "Christine took Scott and a lot of my money" thing was overkill. I knew Maguire's ex wife/ Scott's mom would be villainous but my goodness. Also, you cannot just go to court and demand more child support. Judges are going to need good reasons.🙄
Holland was basically Cinderella and first Scott, then Maguire saved her.
Maguire was okay. Holland was okay. The chemistry was lacking and the author was trying too hard with the banter on their road trip.
The minor characters were there to prop them up (Elise) or tell us how great they are (Jase).

I rarely get cringy from taboo stories, but this one made me uncomfortable. But that isn't what the rating is for. The rating is for the almost insta-love between the two characters within days of her husband's funeral. This I could look past if her husband had been absent, or abusive, or something similar. But he was a beloved husband that she waxes lyrical to, mourns one minute, while lusting after her father-in-law the next. And the fact that her father-in-law looks like her husband? Makes it even more cringy.

What an emotional roller coaster!! Holland and Maguire’s story is a unique twist on forbidden romance. I couldn’t put it down! Holland loses her husband, Scott and she ends up going to live with her father-in-law. The two begin falling in love while dealing with their own grief. Leigh’s development of these characters is perfectly juxtaposed with the plot. If you love forbidden romance and excellent writing, then go read this book now! You will not be disappointed.

OMG! This book!!! This was my first book by Leigh Lennon and I really, really loved it. It's so good!!! The story and the writing are both amazing. And the characters very real and I love Maguire and Holland. And the ending!!!! Can't wait for Different As Night and Day!!! I need it like now!!

Good lord, but does Leigh Lennon know how to absolutely grab you with her writing. It’s like every book she releases she unleashes an entirely new side of her writing and Like Father Like Son showcases that beautifully. This book is not an easy read. It’s absolutely gutting while still overflowing with beauty and even doses of humor throughout. I probably went through more tissues than I’d like to admit while reading this and I loved every second of it.
Anyone who knows me know I tend to steer clear of anything remotely taboo, but I also know Leigh has more than once opened my eyes to new worlds that I would have never otherwise tried so I took a leap of faith and dove in. I’m so glad I did. Maguire and Holland are both amazing characters in completely opposite ways. I could relate to Holland on a level where I could see pieces of myself in her. Maguire was this complex man who’s feelings ran so deep it was like I could almost physically feel them. There is no light and easy with these two. Their story is heavy, it’s emotional and it makes you truly sit back and think about love. What it means to love freely and openly and what it must feel like when you can’t and have to hold back.
I cannot wait for the second half of their story!

This story. So many emotions, loss, joy, love. I couldn't put this story down.
Holland and Maguire have that burning tension almost from the beginning to the end but is that tension caused by shared empathy or truly two souls destined to join. Their relationship skirts norms and could be considered taboo on several points but is written so eloquently. All of the characters have depth and play their parts well. I was reading along, forgetting that this was a duet and that they were going to get their HEA, and whoa that ending was intense and unexpected. I cannot wait to see what happens.
