Misandry

Rate this book
Not all killers are natural born.
Some are manmade,
purified through the fires of hell,
molded by circumstance,
created in darkness.

Raven

I am Raven,
heartless, unfeeling.
My story is one of redemption.
Though I’m not blameless,
I’ve been ruthless in my pursuit of justice.
I was created by the devil himself,
And he was about to meet his greatest aberration.
This may be the story of my undoing,
But I won’t go down without a fight.

Ace

They call me Ace.
I miss nothing.
There isn’t a case I haven’t solved --
until her, my nemesis.
She intrigues me, tests me, tempts me.
I want to unmask her, know her.
Get into the mind of this mercenary,
Without losing myself in the process.

Where do I start on this book. it was thrilling, suspenseful, twisted.

This book had me from the start it is fast paced, with a great story line I really enjoyed Raven character she is heartless and after what she been through you can totally understand where she coming from. I loved Ace this story is full of twists and turns i didn't see coming. It will keep you turning the pages to find out what is going happen.

Well written book that had me turning the pages from the start to the very last page.

Holy vigilante, I'm still in shock! If I thought the last book I read from this author scrambled my brain, I grossly underestimated what a brain scramble is. Because this book? It’s just all kinds of wacked-out wrong! I can only guess that Ms. Joseph either cut her literary teeth on Steven King or she channeled some version of his disturbedly dark mind when she wrote this. Not that this is a bad thing, because this story had me hooked from the very start and held me tight in its clutches all the way through to the last page. I still don’t quite know what I read, and the only word my poor little brain can come up with is “WOW!”

If you’re looking for a romance, look elsewhere. If you want a hearts and flowers story that leaves you with the warm fuzzies and a happy sigh, it’s definitely not this book. This book is dark, twisted, depraved and bizarre, but hypnotizing, fascinating, paralyzing and delicious. Joseph takes us on a crazy, exhilarating ride full of unexpected bumps and shocking twists that will drop your jaw and have you asking, “What the what?!!”

Don’t take my admonition about this book's darkness lightly, because it touches on subjects that will be disturbing to some readers. But if you think you're game, jump in with both feet and hang on tight. Follow Raven as we learn about her past while she metes out her vengeance in the present with Ace on her trail trying to anticipate her next move. And while the main focus of the book isn’t romance, there is an HEA in the epilogue, so there is a little something for your romantic heart.

I won’t even try to give you a synopsis for this one. Just understand as you read that whatever you think you know, you probably don’t. Surprises abound around every corner and will keep you guessing until the end. If you like your books with a strong psychological aspect and deliciously dark, you’ll love Raven and Ace's story.

*I read an early edition of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide feedback and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source.

I totally give this book a 4.5 outta 5 star rating! It was a whirlwind that kept me fascinated, a bit shocked, but 100% intrigued! There were multiple POVs shown during this book and it took a bit to keep up and switching back and forth but at the end during the "AHA moment" it makes 100%. These people might not seem like that they are connected, but it definitely is interesting how everything falls in place and a bit twisted as well!

I don't want to give too many details on what goes down because that is what makes this book special, that and Raven is a freaking bad@ss. Just know that this book is going to shock you, question your morals, and make the room steam up just a bit! I totally enjoyed this dark romance and already received the first book of the series to start on that, I am definitely a fan of Jo-Anne now!

PS: Thanks to Enticing Journey Book Promo and Jo-Anne Joseph for allowing me an ARC of the book to read and review honestly!

Hello darkness!!! So if you have read my reviews before, you know that the darker the better and not did this book give my soul everything it needs. It was overflowing with blood, revenge, brutality and vigilanteness!! I was hooked right away, even though some parts had me scratching my head wondering wth was happening.

Raven had lived the most horrific life and now that she is free, she is determined to rid the world of all of the ugliness that corrupts everything. Her methods are extreme, gory and very detailed but I couldn’t help but cheer her on!

Then there is Ace, he had a pretty crappy childhood too and at a young age, lost his sister, but where Raven went dark, he became a detective to try and help others.

But what happened when the light touched the darkness, was something I didn’t expect! However I can not recommend this wild, crazy and at times disturbing, dark read enough! If the twisted is your thing, then this needs to be the next book you pick up. It will have you trying to piece everything together while falling for these characters that are not the normal romance characters! Highly recommended!!!

Good news!!! You don’t need to read book #1 first!!!! I mean, you should – it’s a great book- but don’t let that keep you from reading MISANDRY now! These books are complete standalones!!! The only reason they are listed as a series is because they share a common theme: strong women seeking retribution!

MISANDRY is the perfect example of how dark and depraved Jo-Anne Joseph can get! She proves that there are no lines she won’t cross, and damn, does that make for an entertaining story!! This is no easy breezy, simple story – it’s a complex, intricate tale that will have you constantly guessing and speculating!! From start to finish I was on pins and needles, trying to figure out who the “bad guy“ was. Because of the fabulous twists and turns coupled with the fact that there is absolutely nothing predictable about this book, I didn’t discover the answer to this question until Joseph revealed it! MISANDRY isn’t just mysterious, twisted and deliciously disturbing, it’s sexy as hell too! Suspenseful, innovative, wickedly dark, & smoking hot… MISANDRY is a dark erotica lover’s dream come true!!

What an incredible book of darkness, evil, depravity and yet there is hope. I have read other books by this author, and this is not her usual genre, and she nailed it. There are so many twists and turns in this story that will make your head spin! Just when you think you have it all figured out, she puts something in there that makes you question everything you read! Each character is described in such detail, that you can envision what they look like and you can actually feel their emotions deep in your very heart and soul. This story is not for the feint of heart as it is definitely a dark read, but I loved every single word. I didn't want to put it down, I needed to know what would happen next, and you will too. Please read this book, you will not be disappointed!

This story of Raven took me away to a gruesome, twisted, sinister and dark world where vigilante justice is the only justice. The dance between her and Ace is breathtaking and intense. Raven and Ace's full story is nothing short of impressive and makes for an all-consuming read.

Oh holy darkness. I am a huge fan of dark books and this one is that I devoured and loved. Raven is one woman you do not want to mess with. To that token though I feel like Ace is exactly what she needs when she needed it. There are so many twists and turns in this book. You are going to love every second of it. I will tell you that this book is a must read for dark book lovers. I so do not want to give anyting away. I have not read the first book and you don't have to as this book is a complete standalone. But, now that I have read this one I want to go back and read Misandry.

OH MY HELL, Misandry was an intense, mind screw of a story that I couldn't put down. I'm not sure how the amazing Jo-Anne Joseph does it, but she makes me sympathize with the tortured soul killers. Raven has gone through hell & back, and I do mean HELL, and while she's part of a government organization which is ironic, she also has her own personal revenge going on the side. And when she captures her marks, I'm telling you, she makes them pay, which I totally didn't blame her. However, things get complicated when a detective starts to pursue her, who they call Ace. One, Ace is smarter than anyone else who has found her kills, and two, she feels an attraction to him. Ace feels that same attraction, and they end up working out their chemistry in the middle of the chaos of her hunt for justice. The twists & turns in this story are insane, so I just dropped f-bombs instead of trying to figure out which way the story was going to turn. It's a dark, gritty read that is hard at times to not put down but you know, after hearing Raven's story, yeah, I cheered her on. So does Ace bring her down?! You'll have to take a walk on the wild side to find out, so one click this baby if you're brave enough! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I was finally able to read book two in The Deliverance series. I just knew... I just knew this was going to be dark and utterly suspenseful. I loved the characters. There weren't ones that I hated and wished for their death. There were characters that I just loved--mainly Raven and Ace. They were beautifully together and amazing on their own.

This author delivered a tale that was unique. It wasn't basic. It didn't follow the basics. She stepped out of side the box and said here I am. The author made me love a character that you knew was doing wrong but... you couldn't help but love. Raven was damn... She was fierce. Her mission was clear. Love or others weren't going to be in her way. Ace... The guy was an awesome book boyfriend. He was intelligent, lawful, sexy, and kind. Can I say more? But I'm going to leave it there because the man is mine. M.I.N.E.

Omygosh!

I thought for certain the first book of this series got me...
But this was just as twisted and convoluted as the first. Amazing the mind you have Ms. Joseph!
Like the first this focused on realistic issues that sadly I have been fascinated with since researching about pedophilia in Russia almost 10 yrs ago. That hooked me.
I cannot say enough about how real this book was, especially the high ranking individuals, who often escape prosecution because of who they are, let alone the money that buys "justice"!
Again, a terrific thriller, and while I figure out one part with a minor secondary character's name, I do not expect it. Nor Did I realize who Raven was...well done!

Loved this novel! I absolutely had to begin it immediately after reading the first of the series!
Terrific writer, stupendous novels!

Have to tell you I am still trying to process what I just read. This is not, and I do mean not, an easy book to read. It is definitely not for the faint of heart. You will be disturbed, confused at first and then disturbed again. It will hold you captive. With all that being said, it brings a lot to the table issue wise. It will make you think and make you uncomfortable. That is a mark of a good book. You will be drawn into a world of intrigue that you will be hard pressed to forget about and consistently trying to figure out what’s going on.
This author always keeps my interest and on my toes. To her I say once again, well done!

I don’t even know where to begin. This book hooked me from the prologue!
Raven is a force to be reckoned with and Ace is just what she needs. This is a dark, twisty book that I couldn’t put down. I have been a huge fan of Jo-Anne Joseph since her first book and she has given the reader glimpses into her soul with every book, and this book is no exception!!

This was another book that I flew thru, couldn't put it down once I started it! I couldn't wait to connect the dots and figure out who was who, what was what! Raven was stone cold vicious! I loved that about her though, even as she made me occasionally cringe! It was definitely a good, dark read!!

"You go through life for a while pretending you're a survivor, but you never quite get over what was stolen from you."

I loved how Misandry was told, in alternating viewpoints, that slowly work together to become a full picture. We're given Evelyn, who's a rookie on the force and is given some really rough cases to start. Her partner Ace is good at what he does, even if he goes about it in ways that are outside the box.

Then we have Raven, who we know is going to be dark from the moment we meet her. A deadly seductress who is highly skilled in what she does. It's because of what's stolen that Misandry can even take place. Hate and hurt are great motivators for Raven. When you've had the worse done to you, lower than the worst, and you have the means to take retribution, you take it. You tear down the machine that was bent on destroying you.

This isn't your typical romance and if you've read Misandry, then it means you've read Mariticide, so you think you will know what you can expect, spoiler alert, you can't. Because Joseph takes you into the various levels of hell just to spit you back out again, hoping to be made whole. Her characters and storyline are gritty and unique, dark and depraved, and so insanely good. Excellent storytelling from a superb author.
