Going to the Zoo is presented in a friendly child way by its text. The text is written as if a young kid was talking throughout the whole book. Making the book more appealing and fun for younger kids. Some text features available in this book is that it helps students practice fluency when reading and comprehension skills. This book would be best read if a student was reading in it to the teacher or in a small group. Before the book even starts it says words you should know before you read: bike-shop, books, house, etc. and at the end asks the students I know and I think questions. Going to the Zoo would be a great book to read individually with a student or in a small group. After reading the book it asks students questions such as: Where are the kids going? Who did the kids see at the bookstore? These questions make sure the readers have a good understanding of what they just read.
