When a new king ascends the throne of the Norlands, only Vadim and Martha's intervention saves Anselm and the other knights - men loyal to the previous king - from a trip to the gallows.
Now that reprieve is over. It's payback time.
Anselm and his fellow knights have one last chance to prove their loyalty to the crown. But King Rodmar does not require mere lip service. To demonstrate their fealty, he commands the knights to bring home his greatest treasure.
Join Anselm, Vadim and their companions on the King's Errand - an adventure that transports them far from the comforts of hearth and home to a new and exotic world.
As they brave the peril of the high seas and confront the unrelenting danger of the desert lands, Anselm finds unexpected friendship and a new sense of belonging - not to mention a woman who just might be the love of his life!
But when their convoy comes under attack and the future of their mission hangs in the balance, will they be able to avert disaster?
N.J. Layouni has been weaving stories all of her life—even before she could actually write. For many years, she was a dedicated 'closet writer'. As a result, the attic space of her home is stuffed to the rafters with piles of aging manuscripts depicting fantastical romantic adventures. Tales of daring sword-wielding heroes and strong, feisty damsels who aren't too tough to accept a helping hand sometimes.
As well as being a mouthpiece for the various characters living inside her head, N.J. is a wife, and mother of two children. She lives in Lancashire, UK.
This story focuses on Anselm again. There are pirates and princesses, a wise king and a loyal squire. The kings errand doesn't start until about 25% of the way into the book. The beginning is about life in Edgeway with Lord Edgeway's new babies, exploring the impact of leaving on a long quest on the families in the entourage.
Miriam and Anselm take longer than needed to figure out how grateful the king is for saving his sister, but the princess is a thoroughly likeable character.
The excitement this story brought was so exciting. I loved that they were sort of like Vadim and Martha with their small dislike which blossomed onto a great and true love. Of course there was the humor that had me cracking.
I think I liked this last book the best. Oh, how I laughed and sobbed. The best ending to the Tales of a Traveler that I could have ever hoped to read. I truly loved reading this time travel tale.
