What did I just read?!

Food addiction is a controversial issue...and I applaud the author for TRYING to present his take on it. He failed. There was no discernible chapter structure. The writing was childish and read more like a scolding from parent to its overweight child.

I learned some tips on how to battle certain cravings. It was also helpful in pointing out patterns that people have towards their favorite foods and the things they do to get them. I realized I'd sometimes exhibit these traits when I get a craving and drive to the store for a specific item; usually a snack. HAHA. The information is useful and the book was short. It was a short 15 minute listen at my listening speed. The narrator did a fine job and I have no complaints.

Disclaimer: I've been listening at 2x speed for so long anything else sounds like slow motion. My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've listened to multiple times. I'll update my review if I listen again.

I requested this book from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

While I don't feel like I'm a food addict fully, I do have some of the tendencies and turn to sugary foods when I'm highly stressed/anxious/sad. This book had some good information and suggestions. I wish they would have spent a bit more time on more things to try or more substitutes for specific cravings but still a good quick read.

Good tips on some things that I deal with daily, so for that I appreciate this project. Also, the narrator was strong and really helped the project on a whole. Overall, I think this is a book for everyone and can help all sizes and shapes.

Finally a good book about eating disorders that doesn't blame the person who is suffering. I recommend this book to people struggling with food addiction.

Feel yourself reaching for food all the time? You may be addicted.

The last year has been stressful. I’ve often found solace in food. It’s been a subconscious go-to whenever I’ve found myself faltering. And, it wasn’t even something I realized I was doing. Until I found most of my trousers tight around the waist. Hunting about, I realized I may have been eating way too much, nearly all the time in fact. That’s when I looked about for books about food addiction.

Battling Food Addiction is a simple book that outlines food addiction, the ideal meal balance and quick-win strategies to get a food addict back to health. Three meals a day, healthy portions, the right kinds of food and plenty of exercise, they all play an important part in the battle. I knew I had a food problem; just not how severe it was.

The book’s concise, and spot on. I’ve been able to analyze and understand the environment triggers that prompted me to binge eat. Fortunately, I’m better equipped now.
