After the attack on Koda’s life, she and her team discover the only clue to her father’s identity points to St. Louis, a city destroyed by Threats ten years ago. With little choice, the team ventures to the ruined city. When one clue leads to another, Koda soon finds herself journeying to a part of the world she’d never expected to venture: Raven’s home.
When decade old secrets are revealed, even Raven’s world is rocked by the information, and he’ll stop at nothing to protect his trainee. As she struggles to understand her role in this new world, Koda is forced to navigate vamlure dating customs and complicated politics. And if that wasn’t enough, Koda must decipher the growing feelings she has for her trainer.
As puzzle pieces begin to fall into place, and even more secrets are revealed, Koda discovers a terrifying truth behind the continued attacks on her life. Will it spell the end of her team and the world along with them?
I am a tad disappointed - the story is great and the flow is good. What I expect though is a better way for Raven and Kord (and I still feel like the names should’ve switched as Kord is male to me and Raven female but that’s my opinion) to “show feelings”. It was sloppy and didn’t feel natural whatsoever. The side characters are moving the plot along too much - there’s too much explaining of feelings and thoughts. Whereas book one was great and got me all hyped, I had thought that for characters in early 20s they would act more mature, given one is 26. Perhaps the ship could’ve waited till mid book 3? Sometimes too early makes no sense when it’s a light switch between trainer and boyfriend and vice versa. Too much growling and brooding too. Still, if you look past that the story is very good.
Second in series, this picks up where book one leaves off. Koda and her companions start off on a journey to learn about her hidden history, but what unfolds is news that will put Koda in more danger than ever. Fortunately, she has Raven on her side to help guide her, and the rest of her elite team to keep her safe…
There’s a lot of action in this one, as the paranormal military elite start to uncover just who the bad guy is in this situation. We also get to learn a lot more about the Vamlure and their society, which is interesting in and of itself. It’s an exciting adventure, with a slight hint of romance, lots of action and plenty of magic. That makes it a great read for the urban fantasy lover, or paranormal fantasy fan.
Great continuation from First Blood. My favorite thing about these books is the easy camaraderie between the members of Koda's Elite team. Even with a lot more characters added in this book from the First, Second, and Fifth Vamlure Houses, you don't lose any of the team banter or closeness. And thank goodness a couple of someones finally admit their feelings in this second installment. Really looking forward to the final book in this trilogy.
The characters are awesome and I loved reading and getting to know them. I have quite a connection with them right now.
The storyline was incredible and so full of action and edge of your seat suspense. It's been a crazy and wild ride and I can't wait to see where this story takes us. Highly recommend this read.
OMG, this book is amazing, we get two shocking revelations: some about Koda's past and, finally, who's the supernatural behind all this attacks!!! 🤯... Maybe it was better not to know that last one🤪😰🙈... Koda and Raven finally accept and confess their feelings for one another, they're growing closer 🤗😍... They finally confirm which House Koda belongs to and now Raven and a few other valmures are part of it also... Now that they know who they're figthing against, they need to asemble a new team with only trusted members... OMG this is way bigger than any guess they might have... Will they find a way to defeat and destroy this powerful supernatural, before he finds Koda and takes the entire World to rule over??? 🤔 😨... Can't wait for the next book!!! 🤩❤️
I loved this book as much as the first one! Usually after reading the first book in a series I kind of forget about them after a while and don’t read any more. The first book had me interested in what was going to happen and I definitely was excited for the second. A lot of my questions were answered and there was some progress with the love story but I’m also excited to keep reading the third book. Great story!
