When I meet Kat in book one of this series, I wanted to hate her & remove her from Ev’s life. But book 3 is where I got a true glimpse into her world & that glimpse had me looking at Malcolm with a side eye.
Malcolm isn’t everything I thought he was. He disappointed me because he had his head in his —for too long when it came to genuinely supporting Kat. It’s too easy to judge Kat for what you think you know about her but that’s not the whole story. I love to see her healing but it broke my heart that she was hurt to begin with.
I was so anxious to read part 4, but that quickly changed the 1st chapter in...the typos got worse as the book progressed with complete words being left out of the sentences to words being swapped around. It was so frustrating that no one proofread this book before publishing. Aside from that the overall story could’ve been better if some of the same paragraphs were literally not repeated every few pages.
I cannot imagine having to grow up like the Orphans. I love how each story drew the sisters and brothers closer together along with the friends in tow. Each story opened new entities for each relationship to flourish. The world needs this level of discernment between relationships and the environment for each to thrive. You need to read this series, it might change how you and others view strength.
Every book in this series has been GOOD and this one keeps that going. It’s well written and we get to see more of the characters we’ve come to love, while finally getting to know Kat and Malcolm on a whole new level. The depths of these characters and their storyline could not have been done better. I finished it wanting more, but not missing a thing!
I enjoyed the whole orphans series I took a chance on reading this series Its my first time reading this author Dandridge Monroe the cover art caught my eye! I loved all the characters we need a story on Midas and Dom now! This was so gooood!
I wasn’t feeling Kat at all after the first book, but getting little glimpses of her in the other books peeked my interest in her past and why she was the way she was. She won me over...then I was side eyeing Malcolm 😂, but in the end I was loving them both. The ending seemed to “tie up” too fast for me, especially when Sam and Demarcus were such headaches. There were some errors that I wished the editor would have caught. I would recommend this entire series because this group of siblings and their loves are the bomb!
I was curious about Kat and Malcolm's story from the time that they were introduced in the first Orphans story. I knew there was a lot of pain and misunderstanding keeping them apart. This story WOW just WOW. The love that Kat and Malcolm had for each other was so deep so intense I felt it with each word. This story had a little of every thing, love, mystery, sex, passion, deception, crazy ex, jealously, danger, family, corruption,I could go on.Ms. Monroe gave us an amazing story in book four of this series. I am sad to see them go, maybe develop get a story about Antwan and Rye.
What a beautiful and wonderful end to this series. Malcolm and Kat were both such flawed but redeemable characters. It was wonderful catching up on the others. I look forward to your next story
What a series!! Malcolm and Kat were so heartbroken without each other. They finally got it together. Demarcus was just pitiful. I wish Evie would have had the baby to see if it was a boy or girl. Good read
OK….so…Katherine, who has been presented as the orphan with the most problems and arguably the least liked, is the star of this book. I throughout the series, hints were given that not all was as it seemed regarding her. For me the biggest hint was Evangeline’s actions and what she said and would not say regarding her. It was clear that her loyalty was based on unmentioned facts. The same for Malcolm. It was clear he was so in love with Kat, but whatever happened in their past was a huge mountain he could not get over. This book explores just who Catherine is. As I read the story, I was blown at how my feelings whiplashed back and forth for both Kat and Malcolm. The phrase hurt people hurt people is searingly depicted in such a way that I decided week after reading that I found my least favorite character of the series. Still like, but not a fav. And I so wanted the most gruesome horrible ending for Demarcus. Lol. That said, I appreciate the light touch the Author provides to the trigger warning worthy topics. We do get wonderful updates on the lives of the other family members, which is always welcome. Very good read and conclusion to this series.
I wanted to love this, and I did partially because of Dandridge's ability to tell a story, but I couldn't believe in the romance. I won't go so far as to say Malcolm was trash because maybe he was a good person, but he certainly wasn't a good love interest. No one who loves someone as much as Malcolm claims he loved Kat would think or treat them the way he did. Malcolm would wax poetic about his love for her and, in the same breath, call her a two-bit whore. He spent fourteen years making her feel low and partially degrading her after their sexual experiences, and his turn around didn't even happen because he loved her and finally came to the conclusion that his love for her should outweigh any sin. Even with Nick trying to talk some sense into him, it was still to h*ll with Kat. No, his mind changed because he finally found out what really happened, and now he could look at her in a positive light again. Malcom's love was conditional based on what he thought of Kat at the time, and honestly, I wanted more for her. I really wanted her to forgive him and move on because I think that's a lesson he needed to learn.
These were all the emotions I experienced in this book. Dandridge Monroe really touched on some hard subjects. Being a former supervisor in Child Welfare (CPS, Adoption and Foster Care), she definitely described some in the ethical dilemmas I faced while working. Now as a counselor, I definitely related to Dr. Ham and how she supported Kat.
The trauma and sacrifice Kat made just to hold on to the family she had was so devastating and overwhelming. She went through so much. To have someone you love so deeply, emotionally and psychologically betray is even more devastating than the physical trauma. BUT THEY WERE BOTH KIDS‼️
Malcolm was not my favorite man in the group (of course the disdain for De’Marcus outweighed them all) because of his treatment toward Kat. When he finally was able to hear, process, and understand the truth behind her actions and behaviors, it broke him emotionally. That part was so real. My heart broke for them both. He redeemed himself. He finally let his love shine through and I loved that for them both. This was definitely a great series and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ❤️❤️❤️
Two more books left and I would have completed her catalog. 🥰🥰
To use another Apostle Queen B song, "She's a survivor. She's not going to give up. She's going to work harder." A true survivor and conqueror perfectly describes Kat. She endured so much to protect the ones she loved. I was so happy when she finally stood up for herself against Malcolm and stop being his punching bag. However, he did too much and I don't care how much he claimed to love her, he couldn't have with his behavior and treatment of her. I'm happy that she got to tell her truth and that he finally learned what really went down. Flawed perception... Is exactly what he had and I'm glad he finally understood the role that he played in her world. Things worked out as they needed to. This story and series have been unputdownable, so go head and tap into them. Highly recommend.
LET👏🏿ME👏🏿TELL 👏🏿YOU 👏🏿SOMETHING this is my first read by this author she get all the flowers for this series she know what the h*ll she doing when it comes to telling a story this series had me in a chokehold finished this series in 3 days I haven’t even been to sleep yet because i just couldn’t not stop reading my whole family side eyeing me because I refuse to talk to them until I finished and not I’m about to start on her next series i refused to stop reading until i finished ever one of her books ,,, PS. Side note I read at least 10 books a week I only rate but books I never write a review unless it’s over 5 stars,, and there this series is in fact a 10 stars book In my opinion
I loved Kat so so so so much. There’s always more to the eye about people and extending grace is key. I loved everything about her! She was kind, patient so strong😭 I liked malcom but the way he spoke to Kat was crazy😭 over pride? Whew. Mal and Kat are the definition of if it’s meant to be it will be. After everything they went through God himself would have to separate them. I found myself rooting for Mal even when I didn’t want to😭 Loved them so much. This book dealt with heavy topics but I was so proud of Kat and of how she handled it, life can really give you an awful hand to deal with. Hated De Marcus with everything. Good riddance :)
So this book was all about Kat and Malcolm. Their history and all that Kat sacrificed for her family. I wish Malcolm had actually gotten some therapy on his own. Also if the orphan series is over, there are still a lot of unanswered questions from this series. Like why is Brian an ahole and why is coby birth certificate redacted. It was nice to understand Kat but I also feel like this book was missing something.
Man Kay’s story really shows how messed up the system can be for those who are a ward of the state. I am glad to see she finally decided to work on her issues instead of running. I am also happy that Malcolm took responsibility for how he reacted and treated Kat. It’s sad how someone was able to manipulate kids when they were a kid too, just a dark individual. Overall great story
This was a heavy book. Although I enjoyed the story, there were so many errors and repeated paragraphs that it became frustrating at times. I liked Malcom the least at the start of this book and I still like him the least. I do like him more than I did at first though so I guess that counts for something. Kat…poor Kat… Although I didn’t care for her at the start of this series, I get her now. I love her now. I couldn’t imagine every man I ever encountered being a horrible excuse for a human.
First let e say this, all the books were extremely long and at some point took away from the beauty of the story. Now this last book did have time where all those words weren’t need however, the story was well written and brought forward some issues that are not discussed in our community. I’m glad the author went about approaching change and showing how love and actions can change the outcome of a story. This was a really good series.
Def worth the read...like my 2nd fav book in the series if I'm honest...Kat deserved the world for all she went through and till the end she deserved more than Malcom...but I understood. That 2nd chance shit is sometimes necessary. Mal redeemed himself but it took him too long for me....however I def understood why, if that make since. This was def beautifully written.
Ughhh I hate to see this story end like uhhh nooo. Idek what to say poor Kat sis went through it and Malcolm didn’t help the situation much. He came through in the end and it was a perfect love story I just want more is all lol
Ok Fidris and Kat. This was a really good story of passion, trials, tribulation and coming out on the other side of the fire even better. Battle tested love at its finest. Great I love a good redemption story and this was it.
Loved this series! I am left confused though. I had a feeling Bryan’s demons were from working with Demarcus but 🤷🏽♀️. I’m moving on to the next series hoping somehow that is addressed
