The Quasar Lineage #8

Selas's Salvation

Rate this book

Selas...

Sent to the surface of the prison planet Dactyles, I’m appointed to clean up the mess created by the Warden Benard. In addition to restructuring the management and ferreting out any of the previous warden’s supporters, I have to supervise the matings of a few lucky males!

Branching out beyond the dome, I work to notify all the prisoners that Benard's no longer in power on the planet. Not everyone believes me though, and I’m captured and held as a prisoner!

When mating marks develop on my body, I’m shocked and confused. There are no more females, right?

And does it really matter when I’m about to be executed by the previous warden’s crazy followers?

Karen...

Struggling to live up to the professional aspirations of my family while attending college, I find myself less and less interested in becoming a doctor or lawyer as they expect. I’m much more interested in continuing on with the active lifestyle and Aikido training that makes me so focused and relaxed...

When I’m abducted by aliens at a study group with friends, I’m told if I give up my family and life on Earth, I can have the life I want. But it also comes with a little catch that definitely sounds… interesting...

Is there really someone out there that’s perfect for me?

Karen💃 Saves The Alpha🐺🍆⛲

The book is one of a series and is written in first person. For some reason, I just could not get into this book, maybe because there was a lot of dialogue between and by the human women and not enough action. The book felt more like a gossipy soap opera 📺, especially when the women got together. I have read and reviewed several of the other 📚books in this series.

Luckily, Karen💃, the subject in this book, has some fighting🔪💪 skills, and at one point she does help save her fated mate, Selas🐺🍆⛲, from renegade prisoners on the prison planet where he is the new warden.

The book felt like there was too much telling and not enough doing, and definitely way too many "I" words.

I love sci-fi romances but this one just didn't click with me. Karen💃💪 was a man's woman, and if it was real life, she wouldn't pal around with other women.

ARC Received from Booksprout🌱
I also got This book with KU.

This is definitely an ADULT romance💞, and there is also some gore🔪🔫, violence💀, and torture🔪.

Miracles abound

For those who are following this series the Ashen deliver, as miracles abound for the Discovery n prisoners on Dactyles. Those who are worthy, that is. As for Selas's salvation I hope the author doesn't mind me using her own words.

"Karen (his mate ) has shown me a new world. One full of excitement where I don't have to constantly be worried about striving to be perfect for fear of losing my standing here on the planet. Now, I have someone to love me unconditionally, even when I don't handle things perfectly. I know she'll forgive me. I can tell we'll have disagreement, and sometimes we won't always act the way the other wants, but we'll figure out a way to make up to each other."

Karen is another of the abductees from Earth, but she's been in stasis since the event initiated by Travek. She's learned to not depend on anyone but herself, that's why she attended Akido classes with a friend n feel in love with the dedicated structure. It claimed her focus n calmed her soul. Now, after awakening, she's being told by her friends she has a mate. One who's dedicated to his job on Dactyles, something she fears, another person like her Dad who thrived at his work while ignoring his family. But in the end she finally realizes this: "Selas is my future. Wherever he goes I know that he's my constant, and exactly what I was hoping for. Dedicated, committed, and mine. I'll never play second fiddle to anything."

... "I’ll give everyone the benefit of the doubt."

Karen knows what she wants for her life, if only her parents plan for her future lined up with her wants. Instead she's getting the college degree that means she'll be qualified for a parent approved career, instead of what she truly yearns for.

Seals is a driven career officer... when the only thing you have is your career, when it's the only thing you could ever hope to have and work to keep, applying yourself only makes sense... then the unimaginable happens and he is given actual, real hope, and has to rediscover how to live his own life.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read stands alone nicely while moving forward the overarching arc. By the end of this story it is clear that Quasarian mated couples have not one but two possibilities for where they can settle, seem to have an ally in this evolution, and once again have cause to go to Quasar where the ruling council doesn't tend to be particularly helpful.

So much excitement!

So much excitement!
Before Selas and Karen get to meet he is taken hostage and due to be killed with two other men. This is done by the old Warden and his followers.
Some of the followers are decent people but Warden Benard is brain washing them. He is saying that the Quasar woman are trying to trick the men and are going to kill them all.
Karen understands the mating but is hoping that her fated mate is nothing like her father who is married to his job and doesn't pay attention to his family. She also hopes that she will he able to use the Akido that she has been trained in for most of her life.
The Ashen make an appearance and help in a huge way. Read this book and discover how they are helping and what is next for out sexy Quasarian men.

Didn't really do it for me

I don't really know why, but this just didn't interest me at all. I had to force myself to finish it...skipping a ton of pages. I didn't connect with the characters at all or really care about their relationship. This is the worst in the series for me so far.

Selas's salvation

Finally the Ashen are not as bad as I anticipated! Selas is a control freak but when he meets Karen, a female martial artist, thinking may change.

This is the eighth story in the The Quasar Lineage series. You don't have to read the previous stories to enjoy this story, but you will understand a lot more if you do. Most of the other characters will be in this story too.

The centeral part of this series is that on the planet Quasar, there are around ten men to every female, so they have 'family contracts' with a female where all the males of that family will become like a husband to that female. She could have many husbands. The males, for some reason or another, cannot perform without an injection of a certain drug. Thousands of years ago, there were even numbers of men and women and they had mates. They would have what looked like colorful tattoos appear on their bodies when their mate was nearby. They would be perfect mates in all ways and would want to be with each other, never separated. They could feel each other's emotions. But for some reason, that stopped thousands of years ago and with a shortage of females, it was now this reverse harem for their planet. When one of their ships came too near Mars, near an Earth ship that had a human female in it, one of their men got his mating marks. When that man's brother found out about it, just before he was to be 'married', he took off to Earth to find his mate. When he tried to 'beam her up' he accidentally beamed up a total of eight college girls, one of them his mate. It seems that there are 'little grey men' who are in control of the space around Earth, and they seem to be able to see the future, so they help the remaining girls find their mates. Maybe even more Earth women can be collected for more Quasar men can have their mates too.

In this story, our girl Karen, is told that her mate is on the Prison Planet, working for the Council, to get the planet straightened up. The former warden was corrupt and was running the planet as her personal kingdom. Him and his followers got the good food, abused the prisoners as they came in and could do anything. The old warden was arrested and put into general population and has escaped and is in the wilds of the planet. They are trying to get the prisoners who live outside the prison dome to come back, since it is now safe. But the former warden has told them all lies about how the Council is killing off all the old prisoners so they can repopulate the planet with the new mated couples. Karen's mate was trying to reach out to the wild prisoners when he was captured. She could feel him through their connection, but they didn't want her out of the airship they go to rescue him in. When they aren't looking, she sneeks out and finds him. While she is watching, one of the wild prisoners slits the throat of one of the three men who are strung up. She knows if she doesn't act now, her mate will be killed. She gets in there with her pipe that she is using as her jo, and kicks their butty. She has been studying Aikido since she was 10 and she still practices every day, even in space.

Sela was from a middle class family, so he had no 'family contract' with any female, so he knew he would never have a family of his own. He worked hard to rise up the ranks in their military until he was the second-in-charge on the ship Discovery. Then he was put in charge of the prison planet and told to get things straightened up. It was decided to place the mates there to populate that planet, since they wouldn't really be welcome on their home planet. He has gone a long way to clean it up, but with the former warden in the wilds and riling them up to attack and steal the females, he needs to get things straightened up and capture the former warden. When he was out on a peace mission, he gets captured. While he is strung up, he gets his mating marks. The former warden tells everyone it is a trick, not real. While they are out fighting against the guards trying to get Sela back, one of the guards slits one of his guys throat. Then this whirlwind of a person comes in and saves them all, including the guy with his throat slit. That ended up being his mate. He is floored on how this small human woman can take down men who are bigger and taller than her and not even get hurt, let alone rescue three men.

You really need to read this story to see what else happens, and it also ends where it looks like there could be more to this series to come.

rewarding read and a satisfying ending to an engaging story.
by sewsummore

Karen was taken from Earth and told that her fated mate waits for her arrival. It was a lot for her to take in and accept but there was nothing that mattered waiting for her on Earth so she was prepared to at least met the man that caused the mating marks on her body. Everything that they said was true, it was hard to believe for Selas as well. He had never expected to find a mate, didn't even yearn for one and yet upon meeting Karen, she was the most important thing in his life. This story hooked me from the start, the attraction between Karen and Selas was explosive and immediate, they would have to accept each other's desires and demands for there was no going back for either of them. I liked how each of them had to accept that having a mate had life changing consequences, having to consider anothers wants above their own and to consider other points of view before making a decision. Their happiness together made making these changes easy for both of them. A rewarding read and a satisfying ending to an engaging story.

This is the first book I've read in this series and I loved it. I have already started collecting more of the series. This story is really captivating. Human girl, Karen, in school to become a psychologist and bad to the bone in Aikido (martial arts). In a study group on campus she is abducted, along with her friend, by aliens and offered the opportunity for a new life. Selas is the alien that she is heading to meet when he is kidnapped by hostile prisoners. Karen will turn these alien males on their heads with her actions. See, she's not going to sit by and let the males go save her man. She knows right where he is and she's going. She makes a name for herself (without even trying) by rescuing her mate and two other males by using her martial arts skills. She also saves the life of one of the guys she rescues. This is a fantastic tale and Karen is one fiery, kick-butt woman. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

I really enjoyed reading this entertaining alien romance, it has a intriguing story-line & plot. The unique characters are well developed and interesting. There are some character crossovers from the previous book but this book is complete & standalone.
There is: an alien male (Selas) to sent to clean up a prison planet (Dactyles) after the previous warden (Bernard) turned out to be corrupt, a strong-willed & fierce human female (Karen) trained in martial arts was abducted from earth & promised a mate, dimension portals, human females, aliens, a Quasar Council, deceit, untruths, mating marks, threats, danger, adventure, action, drama, intrigue, twists & turns, manipulations, attractions, doubts, advice, jealousy, warnings, confrontations, mating rage, surprises, steamy scenes, contentment & a satisfying happy conclusion. I would recommend this alien romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.

Selas never expected to have a mate born to a family with no power he has had to work hard for everything he has ever gotten. When Bren sends him to run the prison planet after the warden Bernard has been been kicked out of his position. When his mating marks begin to show and Karen in brought to the planet she finds him minutes from death when she rescues him he knows that she is what he has always wanted. But can he prove to her that he will not be a workaholic like her absentee father? Bernard is still causing trouble with the inmates telling them lies so they will carry out his evil agenda. Karen and Selas must work together to show the planets honorable males there is a better way. I enjoyed all the books in this series but not only was this well written and fun but the surprise at the end is totally worth it.

Another wonderful story in this series. I didn't find this author till the 6th book in this series so I have some catch up to look forward too. So far she hasn't disappoint me in this well written series when I read the story of Selas and Karen the last women of the study group who was taken from Earth. Selas was sent to the prison planet to straighten up the mess of the previous warden. Karen a up in your face type of women who's interested in the martial arts was sent to the prison planet by the Greys. When mating marks appear on Selas upon his arrival and he meets Karen- sparks fly. Can these two find their happiness among the drama and dilemmas that is thrusts upon them? I'm sad that this is the last of this series because I want more. We shall see! I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.

And Karen, martial arts master in her field, was abducted along with her friends from college was sitting in a study group. She is then on a mission to locate her mate who has the very similar markings that she does who is being held hostage. She can feel his anxiety and tension as he knows that his fate to being killed is coming soon. Meanwhile his mating markings appear on his body. This is a very interesting book. I read another book from the series and loved it. The beginning is a little rough, I got confused at the beginning of the book. It smoothed itself out. A HEA, didn’t feel like a cliffhanger. There are other characters from the previous books but it was definitely able to stand alone.

They are drawn to each other...
Each book in this series is a romantic standalone featuring a female from Earth and a male from Quasar that are fated mates. Karen is part of a group of coeds that were abducted by the aliens while at a school study group. The woman were transported to a prison planet and that’s where Karen meets Selas, her fared mate. She is a master of martial arts and the guys don’t know what to make of the warrior woman. Selas is on the prison planet trying to fix the issues left behind by the crooked ex-warden, who has escaped justice by fleeing to the wilds and stirring up trouble.

Karen is the last of the original humans that was stolen from Earth. Karen and Selas are perfect for each other. The chemistry between the two was very sexy. Selas couldn't figure out why he was getting mating marks on his body as there were no more human women left. Karen finds Selas ties to a pole waiting for execution. She saves him from death using the Aikido she learned. Selas and Karen work together to fix the prison planet that Bernard, the ex warden, messed up. Exciting story. Each book gets better than the last one.

I really hope this is not the end of this series.
Because I am not ready for it end!
I cant tell you too much, dont want to ruin it.
Just know, this series could go on for a VERY long time!!!
I was worried for Selas and Karen at the beginning.
She is do feirce and independant. Nearly fearless.
While Selas was described as cold and brash.
But boy howfy do things heat up!
I would highly recommend this book and this seties.
Happy reading!

Another wonderful story in this amazing series. I really wish I could give this more than the 5 stars as I think this is a brilliantly written story that is full of action, some suspense and romance. This author has never disappointed me with anything I’ve read by her, granted this is the only series I’ve read by her but it’s brilliant and I always look out for the next book in the series. I suggest anyone who loves sci-fi romances to read this entire series.

This is book 8 to The Quasar Lineage series and I loved it, and this is Selas’s and Karen’s story but I’m not going to write any spoilers because the blurb says it all. Selas and Karen were perfect for each other and I loved the way Karen was a kick ass kind of female sassy and full of vinegar. This is another hit by Pearl Tate and I can’t wait to read more from her, it’s a fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Space romance. Being the eighth book, a lot of things mentioned in this one are from previous books. To truly and fully enjoy, I suggest reading in order. It started with one woman being taken and then a group of women. What these human females didn’t know was that fate was about to bring them the males that are meant just for them. Karen will take the males by surprise. She is the one that will do the saving and in return her male will be everything to her.
