Things definitely get hot and dirty (a fave of mine). Before the insta-lust takes control, things get a little dark and weird but the intimate scene is very redeeming. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Way Too Much Too Fast

Night Before New Year’s by Annabelle Winters was a wild little ride that honestly didn’t quite make sense at the end. This is one of those stories where people meet, fall in love, have sex, and somehow build an entire life together within a handful of chapters. I understand this is a short read, but even for a novella, everything moved at an unreal pace that pulled me out of the story.

That said, it wasn’t terrible. The smut level was tolerable, which I appreciated. In very short books, heavy spice can become overwhelming very quickly, and that wasn’t the case here. The emotional beats were present, and you can tell the author wanted the story to have heart.

Where it completely lost me was the ending. The FBI involvement and the whole Dr. Death situation felt messy and unnecessary for the amount of time we spent with these characters. Everything wrapped up far too fast, with too much packed into too little time.

And the audiobook… I need to say this clearly. I hate when books use virtual voice narration. There should be a disclaimer on the cover page narrate d by virtual voice. Or avoid the shuns of readers and JUST Pay the voice actor. A virtual voice is not audiobook. It’s text to speech. It destroys immersion, mispronounces words like crevice, and sounds nothing like a real person processing emotion. The female voice also didn’t sound like a Latina at all, which made it even harder given the prose didn’t enrich the culture of the character either. Also to stay engaged with the male speech to text I had to picture a different man for a lead because it didn’t sound like a muscular gruff Cain. If I’m paying for an audiobook service, I expect an actual narrator, not shortcuts.

Overall, this was an okay short read I read on a drive. It had emotion, didn’t overdo the spice, and had moments that worked. But pacing was unrealistic, ending was confusing, and the audiobook experience was frustrating.

With the ER being short-staffed on New Year’s Eve, Corrina (“Coco”) graciously agrees to work the night shift rather than go out and enjoy herself with her friends as she had planned. She takes her job seriously and knows she can be of more help at work. She sees a new doctor in the ER who looks intently at her, as if he needs something.

Dr. Cain had just transferred to the hospital. He is still grieving the death of his daughter, even though she died 10 years ago. He is also planning to seek revenge for her death – but after all these years, is it against a real person or a phantom he has conjured up to distract his grieving, fractured mind?

When he sees Corrina for the first time in his ER, Cain is totally distracted and even willing to put aside his thoughts of revenge. Cain has a reputation of being rude to people, but she turns his barbs around on him and doesn’t let it get to her. Taking her off to a secluded area in the hospital, Cain starts irrationally talking about things that make no sense to Corrina, but she seemed able to calm him. He has strong feelings toward her already, and she could help him have hope again. Will she turn his life around? Will they find a HEA together?

This is a sort of odd story that can be difficult to follow. I didn’t think the story line made much sense from the start but, even accepting that, the characters didn’t draw me in either. I guess I was concentrating more on whether Cain was hallucinating the whole thing. Even the talk about Maggie’s adoption was confusing. Grab your copy and see if Corrina was able to bring Cain back out of his need for vengeance and help him understand his own confusion so he can begin to live a normal life.

This was one of the more interesting Winter's insta-love books that I have read. The hero character, Cain, was in a state of constant grief and in revenge mode. The background describing his behaviors and emotions was wonderfully developed. Corrina, aka Nurse Coco, was a contrasting bright, positive, empathetic, nurturing heroine. The emotional connection between them was fabulous.

Cain, Dr. A$$hol€, is grieving the death of his little girl, Maggie, 10 years esrlier. He believes it was basically a murder situation and he is after the doctor that 'killed' her. Corrina happens to be a nurse on the New Year's shift the catches his eye. He drags her to some empty hallway rambling about Dr. Death. Corrina is quite perplexed, but intregued not only by his story, but also her body's reaction to this man.

As Corrina conjols Cain, he begins to question his own reasoning. Is it really possible he made the whole thing up to try and cope with Maggie's death. Feeling a sense of release wash over him, he focuses solely on his attraction to this angel in front of him. Then, suddenly, they are thrust back into what Corrina is convinced is Cain's imagination. But is it really?

So, is Cain searching for a real Dr. Death? Someone responsible for Maggie's death. Or is he simply a grieving father struggling to see the light? This book will divulge all, and SOOOO much more!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest, unbias review.

Corrina had planned to go out with friends to a party on New Year's Eve but when the hospital called because they were short staffed she agreed to go in to work. She decided that she would wear her little black dress under her scrubs though as a way she could celebrate the holiday. Dr. Cain is working at the hospital with a mission in mind and its all about revenge. Nothing was going to deviate him from what he felt he needed to do that is until he saw nurse Corrina. There's something about her that draws him to her but he can't forget about the man responsible for his daughter's death. He pulls Corrina down an empty hallway talking about this doctor to her rambling about what he did to his daughter and needing to prove it. Corrina didn't know what he needed just that she would do whatever she could to help him. Sparks fly between them as they hide from others as they go further away from the main part of the hospital. Would Corrina be making a mistake going with Cain? Will Cain finally get to move on from his daughter's death?

This is an amazing story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Got to love these insta-lust-to-love short and steamy stories!
Corrina, also known as Nurse Coco, works in the ER of a hospital. She is called in to work on the New Year’s Eve shift although she planned to go out with friends, wearing the sweetest “little” black dress on her very curvy figure. Not to be outdone she decides to wear it under her scrubs. What the hey. She can pretend she wore it for her future husband. Can’t she?
Dr. Cain has an ulterior motive for working at this particular hospital so he doesn’t care how he treats patients or staff, garnering him the nickname, “A$$hole.” But one look at the lusciously curved Nurse Coco causes him to adjust his plans and other things…
I loved this sweet and steamy short book! Ms. Winters even makes fun of the genre, “Does that s**t even happen in romance novels anymore?! Maybe in that insta-love trash all the nurses read in the breakroom…” So funny! Nurse Coco and Dr. Cain get their HEA in more ways than one. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through Booksprout and it comes highly recommended for readers who like short, steamy stories with appealing characters and a bit of a mystery.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story of nurse Coco and doctor Cain. Coco works in the ER and the new doctor Cain is a bit of a jerk to everyone. Cain knows this is going to be his only night working in this ER after waiting for 10 years for a chance. Cain has secrets and he knows tonight is going to give him the opportunity for revenge he has been waiting for, but he wasn't ready to meet Coco. Cain is very attracted to Coco and is surprised when she calls him out for being a jerk. Cain asks Coco to show him the wing of the hospital that is being renovated, so she goes to the empty wing with him. While there, Cain tells Coc o his secrets and explains his plans, Coco doesn't believe him at first, but after a heated encounter, she starts to believe him. Cain also starts to reconsider his plans after meeting Coco. This is a love at first sight story i enjoyed. i liked Coco and thought she really wanted to be happy and find her happy ending. I would have given the book a higher rating, but i found Cain a little confusing at times. I did like the idea behind the story though.

I received this short story with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Corrina "CoCo" and Cain . Coco was hoping this was her year to meet mr right at a New Years Eve Party instead she got called in to work at the hospital. See CoCo is one of the few nurses that doesn't say no when asked to work an extra shift. This night though she meets the new doctor and finds the rumors aren't all that off about him. Cain doesn't want to be in this hospital heck he doesn't even want to be in this city. One statement from CoCo has him rethinking his whole ready to get away idea. There are things going on though that they both don't know about when the secrets come out will they find their way to a HEA and a Happy New Year or will they find that they made resolutions that can't be kept no matter what?

This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Corrina was supposed to go to a New Year’s Eve party with her girlfriends but not now that she was asked to go into work and at this time of year the ER is going to be so busy but who has a life, the problem is that Corrina always picks work over her having a life but maybe she might meet her future husband in the ER tonight. Cain is a doctor who’s working in the ER on New Year’s Eve and he’s not looking forward to it, it’s the calm before the storm but then he hears a woman’s voice and then he turns around and when he see’s her he nearly falls to his knees she’s a curvy goddess plus she’s one of the ER nurses. The problem is that Cain is rude to her but she just throws sarcasm right back at him and Cain wants to claim her but it will only be for one night because all he can think about is revenge. I loved this story it also made me sad but if you want to know why Cain has revenge on his mind then you’re going to have to get this book to find out. This is a fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Nurse Coco was ready for a night out it was new years eve and she was ready to party! she had her little black dress hung up when she got a call to go in to work the ER. But she wasn't ready to give up on the little black dress. The way it fitted her curvy body made her feel like a million Dollars, so she decides to wear under her scrubs.
This is where she meets Dr Cain he has another name that the staff call him but I cant write it in this review lol
He has problem with his attitude but is there a reason behind it?? But when he meets Coco everything changes

We have another over the top crazy instant love story about doctor Cain and nurse Coco who meet for the first time working in the ER on New Years Eve. Coco is called in last minute to help and when she sees Cain she realizes it’s the new doctor everyone calls him a body part. Cain can not believe his reaction to Coco and pulls her in to help him with a patient and then drags her to the unfinished area of the hospital telling her his story along the way. Coco is not sure if Cain is crazy or delusional but as their quick and steamy coupling shows he is anything but crazy. These two use their strengths to make what happened years ago right for Cain and making their tomorrow’s a better way of living with love! Annabelle Winters is renowned for her red hot steamy books with insta-love and plenty of passion. This book is about Coco and Cain. Coco is our gorgeous curvy heroine and she is a nurse in ER in NY. She has her LBD already for a night on the town on New Years Eve but she's called into work and she can't pull a sickie. Now a certain new doctor in ER, Dr Cain, is also on duty and he's definitely caught Coco's eye and she thinks he likes her curves. But Dr Cain has a secret and Coco is about to be involved in the reason why he is there. But what does it mean for them? Plenty of passion between these two and the tension is patent. A gripping fast paced read with insta love. I'm looking forward to Annabelle's next romantic romp. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This was an interesting read. Parts of the story felt very odd to me. It was well written, just hard for me to connect and get immersed in the story.

Corrina (Coco) is an ER nurse and gets called in to work the night shift on New Years Eve. When she gets to the hospital, she sees the mysterious new doctor looking at her like he wants something from her. Cain is the new doctor that just transferred to the hospital. He is not expecting and isn't prepared for meeting Coco.

There are some issues that Cain has to work through and Coco helps. Angst, sadness, romance, this story has a lot going on. I had a hard time with it, but I still think you should give it a try.

Hippocratic oath is important to Nurse Coco. She called in late shift at the last minute for New Year’s Eve. After changing her mind and all second-guessing about going, she decides to go in anyway to her shift. Once there she meets the new doctor. Cain is his name. With this meeting nurse Coco he falls madly in love with her falls out of breath. And then he kinda kidnapped her. He’s trying to prove a point because he’s hurting inside and he’s waiting for New Year’s to become a beginning or end to his misery. There’s Nurse Coco to the rescue. Very good book that is intense as some places and very easy to have empathy for others. Good read.

Corrine is an ER nurse that is called in to work because they are short staffed. While working She runs into Cain. The Doctor everyone calls "Dr Asshole" because he is very straight forward. Cain damn near loses his mind when he sees this beautiful woman in front of him. Cain as a very dark past he has been trying to take care of. He starts talking about crazy stuff after he took Corrine to a secluded area of the hospital. He was right about everything he thought about his past. He confessed his love to her right then and there. She was able to help him from having a black heart to seeing the light that now shines. It was a good story.

Good romance which seems hesitated between several styles
3.5
Good romance that oscillates between thriller, madness, romance.
The hero’s instalove, Doctor Cain adds to this vague, unstable side. He comes to kill the man who killed his little girl 10 years ago and he stops, caught up in his attraction to nurse Corina. Between this attraction, and Corina's compassion, Cain doubts and he thinks that maybe he's the madman and that he had imagined all this to flee the death of his daughter.
Beyond this rather thriller story, the story between Corina and Cain, even if it's fast at first, is especially very hot.

Really different and exciting!
Ms. Winters has really gone outside of her usual story with this one. We still have Corrine, our nurse heroine, and Cain, our doctor (hero?). When she is called in for the late shift at the last minute she goes. She has never met him before, but when she does he falls madly in love with her. The rest of the story is part real and part supernatural with a very real ending. Great characters, a lot of creativity via her great writing, and an absolutely “spellbinding” read!

This was a over the top, crazy read. I’m such a huge fan of this author and it did not disappoint! Corrina and Cain were too much! There were some hot AF scenes and the backstory behind it was all Annabelle Winters! It had me shaking my head in disbelief, laughter and then nodding because, of course!
Corinna is called into work as a nurse and meets the new doctor, Cain. Cain comes off as a rude, demanding guy. The backstory for him was tragic and Corrina handling him was insane. Their night lead to a climactic ending that has to be read to be believed!

Coco gets called into the late shift at the last minute on New Years Eve. She meets the new doctor who just transferred to her hospital. Cain looks at Coco as if he's just seen the best thing in his life. There are some issues that Cain has to work through and with Coco's help she seems to bring him out of his sadness and loss of his daughter from years earlier. I enjoyed this story every much. The characters were great together and Coco seems to bring Dr. Cain out of his deranged reasoning. He finally has something else to focus his love and attention on. A great New Year's Eve story. The unexpected can happen on New Year's Eve! First book I've read that stayed true to the description of a curby woman. Well done! Corinna is beautiful! Cain, new doctor in the ER has a painful past and is bent on revenge. Coco, ER nurse called in on New Year's Eve to work. When they meet, they have an instant connection, but work first. They indulge in a little light work flirtation, until they stumble on a mystery/challenge that may answer questions and/or change their lives forever. Quick and hot. A lot said in a short story. Fun story. Good dialogue. Nicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Good cover!

I received a free copy of the steamy novella Night Before New Year's: Curvy for the Holidays book 3 by Annabelle Winters and this review was given freely.
Twisted and ironic with a happy ending. This is a dark and passion filled short story of regret, vengeance, healing and love one New Years Eve in the ER.
A 10 year quest and a staffing shortage place Doctor Cain in the same ER as his fated mate nurse Corinna "Coco" and the potential hideout of the doctor that killed Caine's daughter.

I really enjoyed this book by Annabelle Winters. Its not your typical romance but it definitely keeps you turning pages. Coco, an ER nurse, is called in to work on New Year’s Eve, one of the craziest nights of the year in the ER. She has no idea just how crazy her night would turn out. Meeting Dr. Cain, the new doctor turns her world upside down. Dr. Cain has one goal and thats revenge for the death of his daughter years ago. When he sees Coco, he is blown away with the curvy nurse. He knows she is the one for him. Will Dr. Cain get his girl and his revenge?

This book was interesting. It was about Corrina or CoCo who is a nurse and Cain who is a doctor. Corrina gets called into work on New Year’s Eve and meets Cain. Cain is still grieving the death of his daughter who died 10 years ago. He is after revenge but is there anyone really at fault. He is really inthralled with Coco. Will he go through with his plan or will Coco make him see that revenge isn’t the answer? I enjoyed this book. It kept you reading until the end.

She has to work on New Years Eve ................ I just could not get into this story

I don't know what it is but for me I could not really get into the story of Night Before New Year's. This is the first book by Annabelle Winters that I experienced this. I ended up about a 1/3 of the way though and just had to close it and DNF. Well I skimmed further on to the end but it still did not grab me enough to start reading it again.
This story is still well written and interesting but it just was not for me. I may try reading it again at a later date and then update my review.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Corrina, or Coco, is a nurse, and she decided to take the New Year's eve shift.
She had no idea what was in store for her.
Cain was still in pain for losing his little girl 10 years ago.
Will his pain make him miss a chance at love w/ Corrina ?
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!

Whoa
Im not sure if intense is the right word to describe Cain and Cocos insta-love. What is more than intense?
Whatever that word is, their story is that!
Annabelle is starting off the new year as only she can, with a hotter than fire insta-love with all the fun naughty bits.
I would recommend.
Happy reading!
