Kaguya is the vice president of their prestigious academy’s student council and she's in love with, Miyuki, the president, and he with her! BUT both are well aware that in love there is always a winner... and neither wants to be the "loser!" As both are geniuses and quite proud they spend each day laying in wait for an opportunity to get the other to confess without losing face... only Chika, their secretary and Ishigami, their treasurer, seem ready to innocently mess up their careful machinations.
I really liked how Kaguya-sama: Love is War vol 12 started with Shirogane making a decisive decision when he’ll confess to Kaguya. It make the next couple of chapters so funny with Kaguya reacting to his confident answers. I liked how this showed growth in both of them. They wouldn’t have accepted their feelings so readily in the past.
We follow a storyline centered around the upcoming festival which marks Shirogane’s deadline. It made some of the filler chapters really fun. My favorite was him asking Kaguya on a date spontaneously. Though the end was the best, we learn the moment Shirogane fell for Kaguya. I really loved getting this glimpse into his past.
There is also a seriously funny chapter where his sister teaches him to dress cool. He needed it too if he’s really planning on dating Kaguya in the future! Kaguya-sama: Love is War vol 12 gives us hope that our love birds will make the jump to confessing their feelings soon...

Shirogane is finally ready to confess his love for Shinomiya, and he wants to do it at their school’s culture festival. He is being more open with her, flirting and even asked her out on a date. But will Shinomiya accept his advances or think he is playing mind games still? Will she end up agreeing to go on a date?
I felt like I was waiting this whole volume for the festival but this was all the build up. There were plenty of humorous moments throughout though! I found Shirogane’s lack of co-ordination skills highly relatable, it’s giving ✨ dyspraxia ✨.
I wonder how everything is going to go down at the festival in the next volume, I am super curious now as there is still quite a lot of the series to go!

I am still enjoying this series. I was a little disappointed that we didn’t explore what happened at the end of the last volume. I hope it will be brought up again very soon.
This one is centred around getting ready for a cultural festival and all of the drama leading up to it. I am still having a great time just following the day to day activities and watching the characters just go through basic things. While I don’t want to go back to high school, the idea and thought of all of the petty things that go along with it. For some reason, this makes me happy and allows me to escape.
The artwork, again, adds to the overall story. It is simple and works for the story. I love how facial expressions are captured and shown to us. It shows us the story very clearly how and what the characters are going through. It shows us how they handle certain situations and allows each character to find our own voice.
Overall, I am still having a great time with this story and can’t wait to keep reading.

OH MY GOD ITS HAPPENING!!!!!! I can't believe we are finally at the point where Miyuki and Kaguya both acknowledged their feelings for each other (not to the other person, of course, but at least to themselves). AND THEY BOTH WANT TO CONFESS!!!
Also the line, "If the one to fall in love first is the loser, Shirogane was defeated long ago" makes me want to scream. He literally feel for her the day that they met!!!! WTF!!!!

Another great volume.
The comedy is, of course, still on point. The arm-wrestling scene had me laughing out loud, and it's a perfect example of how the series can take a small idea and turn it into a hilarious battle of pride and wits.
But what I really loved about this volume were the tender, more personal moments. We get a glimpse into Miyuki's insecurities, particularly his struggles with not being good at anything outside of academics. It's a powerful moment of self-reflection that makes him so much more relatable and his feelings for Kaguya feel even more genuine. Seeing how he constantly pushes himself, even when he feels like he's not good enough, is a great addition to his character.
We also get a fascinating flashback to the very beginning, showing how Miyuki and Kaguya first met and how their love is war game began. It's a crucial piece of the puzzle that shows why he fell for her and how their intense rivalry was born from a place of respect and admiration.
The best part, though, is the Cultural Festival Arc. You can feel the tension build as both Miyuki and Kaguya realize that their game has gone on long enough. It all comes to a head in a high-stakes, multi-chapter showdown where they both decide, without saying a word, that this game is over. The moment they both decide one of them will finally confess their love for the other is brilliant and shows how much they've grown.
Overall, another excellent volume that moves beyond just comedy and delivers real emotional weight and character development.

I do love this series - I get at least one laugh-out-loud moment from each volume. Virtually none of them involve Fujiwara, though; I like her less and less with each subsequent book.

Trận đấu vật tay chắc là chương đặc sắc nhất haha. Ai cũng đáng yêu dễ thương.
Còn lễ hội văn hoá cũng mới chỉ có phần chuẩn bị thôi, chưa diễn ra nữa nên mình cũng phải chờ sang tập sau mới được tham gia cùng các bạn Shuuchin.

September 5, 2022It's fitting that this volume contains a chapter questioning everyone's ability to be objective, because I don't think I'm in a place right now where I can assess this manga objectively anymore.
No-one reads these reviews, which I sometimes view as a curse, but right now its a blessing. Cause but it's not been an easy day folks. I've dealt with anxiety and loneliness for a while now, but I used to enjoy expressing it much more than I currently do. Recently I feel like my options for reaching out to people about this stuff are beginning to dwindle, both because I'm sick of reducing myself in my friend's eyes, but also because it only spins me round in circles without anything truly changing. I'm not sure what I want to get out of talking stuff through with people anymore, and if I did know what I wanted, I don't know who would give it to me. Everyday it feels like people around me are feeling fuzzier and more distant, as though they've spotted something within me that I haven't, and they don't want anything to do with it. I'm sat here right now with my heart racing for no defined reason, and it's the easiest comfort I can find to read these books which are so brimming with energy and character and heart, and it's feels very fucking embarrassing to be in this spot, but also very lucky. Because this series is a gem. A low-intensity gem that I never thought would take me over, but here we are.
Anyway. Normal service to hopefully resume next time.

Akasaka es Dios, como puede ser cada tomo mejor que el anterior? Es que es increíble. Me encanta que Miyuki se haya decidido a ir a por todas aunque necesite un empujoncito de vez en cuando...y Kaguya igual que por fin ha terminado confesandole a alguien que está enamorada del Presidente. Por otro lado vemos como las amistades han ido evolucionando pues si el momento en el que Ishigami confundió a Kaguya con Chika, en tomos del principio habría huido despavorido, pero ya no. Luego, lo del reloj Moon Watch...tiene que estar relacionado con la escena de la Princesa Kaguya, debe ser otra pista que nos deja el mangaka sobre la obra. Y por supuesto, me ha encantado lo del primer encuentro, siempre había pensado que se habían conocido en el consejo, pero no, parece que Kaguya ya llamó anteriormente la atención de Miyuki ❤️ que ganas del tomo 13!!

Another fun chapter. The whole ordeal about how one views themselves was very enjoyable and very relatable. In society it is so tough to judge yourself objectively...it may indeed be impossible. Anyways, the gang is preparing for the School Cultural Festival and if you remember what happened in volume 11, that is a deadline for someone to decide about confessing! We get more backstory (flashbacks), and we learn a little more about the supporting characters. A very good, very solid volume of Kaguya-sama: Love is War by Aka Akasaka!

There have been series that began to lose me when they move away from the premise, but this series is doing it slowly and using it to its advantage. It crescendoed in the last volume and now is maintaining the perfect score by keeping the reader tense and hyped for the eventual confession. Bravo Akasaka.

This volume feels very much like preparation for what is about to happen. Everyone is preparing for the school culture festival with some side gag chapters along the way. However, the very last chapter showing Shirogane in his first year was a great one to end with. Overall, 3.6 but rounding up to 4.

Emotions and characters are building in this installment. As the school prepares for the school festival, the cast finds themselves getting ready in multiple ways. The volume is topped off by a flashback to day where Shirogane meets Kaguya for the first time and is the reaction is immediate.
