Relapsing theoretical physicist, professional geek, sci fi novelist, and Doctor Who fan.

Though she is originally from England, she is mostly what her friends call a “digital nomad”, hanging in whichever country calls to her… as long as it has good wifi, and coffee.

I purchased this way, way back on the 31st August 2019 and have finally gotten around to reading the story that I was originally interested in. That story was Cyborg Legacy by Lindsay Buroker, which I reviewed on that book's page here - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....

Some of the stories don't have their own page, so I will review those here as I complete them.

It soon became apparent that this was a bonus story from a world the author had already written widely in. A little research on here and I discovered these characters were from her Sword-Mage Chronicles. Whilst there was enough backfilling to allow me to follow the story, I did have to ignore other things that made no sense to me.
Overall I enjoyed the story, the first retelling of the day felt a little awkward and clunky, but once I was over that hurdle the rest of the story flowed well. Due to being a novella, there were times when the story relied more on telling than showing, but in general, there was a good mix of plot progression and character growth.
I liked Bentley and felt I got to know a couple of other characters quite well too, sadly the "love interest" Svend wasn't one of them. My enjoyment of the story was enough to convince me to try more books by the author.

The story I read was Made to Kill. This was one great book. If you love werewolf stories this is a small twist on them. Good vs. bad which makes so many surprises as you read. Lots of action and adventure and edge of your seat reading. I kept up late in the night reading wanting to know what happens next and what happens at the end. Was not disappointed in the least.

There are a lot of books in this volume, some good, some bad, some indifferent. It's worth reading because you can dip in and out, read the stories you like, skip the ones you don't. My favourite is Exit Protocol by Nick Stephenson.

The thing I found odd about the way the volume was put together was the inclusion of a table of contents for each book. The table of contents at the beginning of the volume makes sense, but not a list of chapters at the start of every book. When reading fiction, you start on page one and read the pages serially until the end, you don't go back to a meaningless list of chapter numbers to decide what section to read next.

Apart from that, a good collection, especially at the price.

Worth it for the two thirds of the stories that were good

This was thirteen books and stories written by different authors. While some were quit good, I had to give up on three of them because I couldn't get into them. If you like sci-fi and dystopia you would probably enjoy.pay of them.

I couldn’t finish reading this collection. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Very juvenile. Could not get past the fourth chapter. Read like a book for 12 year olds.
FLAMING DOVE 4 Stars
Well written but I didn’t care for the subject matter of a failed Armageddon and disillusioned angels.
THEIR SOLITARY WAY
3 stars
A new take on how Adam and Eve and Cain and Abel came to Earth. Well written.

Fantastic Stories, Incredible Authors, Proceeds Go To Charity!

This is a collection of fantastic stories from some really incredible authors. These are some of the most talented Scifi authors writing today. They've all come together to bring you a collection that entertains as well as raising money for charity.

My personal favourite of the stories on offer is Their Solitary Way by JN Chaney. That guy is a non stop writing machine!

Side note:

Soontir over on Amazon.com couldn't have even read any of the books with how fast he threw up his review... He obviously has it out for one of the authors, maybe they turned him down, maybe he's just a prick, who knows...

I do not read this genre - EVER. The reason I am posting this review is to acknowledge the purpose of this collection - a fund raiser. Shout out to the authors who collaborated in this effort. I bought it also because Nick Stephenson's book, Exit Protocol, is included and I wanted to sample his writing. He is an amazing marketer, teacher, and a very good writer. He offers excellent value for all of his endeavors in which I've invested. If you like this genre, I would make sure to read his books.
