I'm dissapointed by a couple of aspects of this book but there are so many great recipes. There are over 500 but I haven't had a chance to try many as I borrowed this from the library and I find I have to own cookbooks if I want to coincide having all the ingredients, the recipe and the time available all at the same moment.

My main peeve with this book (and many others) is that there is a cluster of recipes, 8 or 10 with no photos and then one with a photo. I want to see what every recipe should look like, recipe on one page photo on the one facing it, all through the book. So many photos of someone stirring a pan, mashing something, using a blender, unless you're from another planet you know what that looks like, we want go see the end product, anything else is needless.

The other slight downside was there were many ingredients that I haven't heard of, couldn't get, or are just really specific, tamari-marinated lacto-fermented tofu for example, supermarkets here may stretch to smoked tofu but that's it. We don't have tempeh, seitan, Yaki nori or samphire available here. I wouldn't be able to find liquid smoke even if you do only need a couple of drops, I know the song but I certainly couldn't lay my hands on some mulberries without growing some myself, coconut sugar and agave syrup aren't available here, although I might find them in the city, I haven't heard of magnesium chloride flakes, kuri squash, ras el haout, espelette pepper, mirin, kombucha or gomashio to name but a few.

Despite these hurdles the recipes I tried were amazing and there are so many I want to try, there's a great range of styles of food and this is high on my list of cookery books to look out for to buy. I would highly recommend giving this a look if your local library has a copy.

This book is exactly what it says on the cover - a vegan bible. You can find plenty of recipes to satisfy your cravings and lots of vegan versions of meaty recipes you wouldn't even think of.

But if feel it could have been better executed. I don't like the pictures. The recipes are too tightly packed and it needs more pictures to make me fall in love with them.

Don't get me wrong. when you start reading through the ingredients in each recipe, you find yourself wanting to make them. But you won't get to read them, unless they firstly attract you with gorgeous pics.

Too much of a reliance on Tofu, there are so many other natural proteins and thickeners out there i would have liked to see more diversity to the recipes.

This is an extremely comprehensive guide to a plant based diet however many of the recipes have either tofu or seitan as an ingredient, and not all vegans eat those products. If however you do, it’s very likely the only cookery book you’ll ever need or want. An excellent book with vast range of recipes, majority of which are straightforward.

I wanted a practical book, explanatory and useful in the kitchen to help me enjoy myself while cooking varied vegetarian dishes.
I was pleased by the practical guidance on products used in vegetarian cooking as much as the explanations of the potential issues while getting rid of animal proteins from our plates.

In a cookbook, I need to see, to have the urge to start cooking to taste and understand the recipes.
Here, I enjoyed the large enticing photos that make you want to spend some time in the kitchen as well as the little ones guiding the reader.

I personally tested the pudding with coconut milk and tapioca. Yummy... A real treat!
Ditto for the brioche and the buns with orange blossom. Often, the receipes can be either too sweet or poorly proportioned, in this cookbook clear and great instructions.
I was thrilled to be able to trust the author, which you can feel the passion for cooking, and who gives you real tips .
Great delicious one!
