From the author who brought you the Dimarco Series, comes another exciting series filled with secrets, suspense and the sexy rebels who work for Elite Securities.
Revenge can make even the best man fall…
After years of hatred boiling inside Pike Stevens, he finally had the chance to avenge his sister’s death, to bring down the man responsible for so much pain. And he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
Killing is nothing new to the ex-marine, except this time he wasn’t protecting his country, he wasn’t protecting his brothers, he was attempting to numb the pain slowly suffocating him. Quietly suffering in a life filled with loneliness and regret, he’s accepted his punishment for not protecting the only person he’s ever loved. In his experiences, he’s learned to always expect the worst.
He never expected to meet a woman who would bring light into his life, who would show him forgiveness and the beauty in acceptance.
He never expected a chance at redemption.
He never expected Isabella Hampton.
This is the first book in a spin-off series of The Dimarco Series. Can be read as a standalone. Many characters from The Dimarco Series will appear in this story.
Jennifer Hanks is a busy author and mom. Her stories are contemporary romance and romantic suspense, all with the underlying message of the power and strength in love. She’s also a sucker for a Happily-Ever-After. Her love of reading and books in general started at a very young age and has steadily grown into a love of writing as well. She admits to being addicted to all things romance and has no plans of quitting her habit. Jennifer lives in Pennsylvania with her two children. When she’s not reading or writing, she can be found with her kids at their various activities. Her house is frequently filled with any combination of her children’s friends, nieces, nephews and a variety of pets.
Spin-off series from Ms. Hanks Dimarco series. Lots of peeps from the first series make appearances and it does get a little confusing for those of us who haven't read that series. Cause we are also meeting all the boys of the Elite Securities force.
Pike and Bella have a slow burn, long-distance relationship for a year with neither willing to admit they like the other one. Bella and her mom move to New Hope, and lots more sparks fly as they are now in close contact. He has family drama, and she has a little (mostly in her own mind). They finally admit to being in love, and a bad guy comes along trying to mess it up.
Can't wait to read the next one, and maybe one day go back and read the first series.
This is my second Jennifer Hanks novel. As with the previous book, Kate, I didn't love the romance, but I did love the Dimarco family and extended "family." Hanks writes great stories about family and how they accept you and are there for you. Sadly, I don't feel the same about the romantic parts.
Bella annoyed me to no end. I had this whole thing written out about how she played the martyr for so long because of her mom being in a wheelchair (she honestly treated her mom more like a child than an adult in the beginning), but it felt too long and wordy. I liked Pike and his back story was great. I almost wish this could have been a story on his evolution. If the romance wouldn't have been present, or if it had taken a back seat, I think I would have enjoyed this more. Pike's story is a sad one to be sure, and there is some suspense involved, but what I loved the most was his family of friends joining in to help him.
I may give Hanks another try down the road, I liked the familial story line that much, but I would love to see the romance develop from more than just lust.
My Redemption by Jennifer Hanks is book One in The Elite Securities Series. This is the story of Pike and Bella. In The Dimarco Series writing by this same author we meet Pike and Bella, although they are nothing more than friends of friends they did meet. In this book we actually start to get their story and what is keeping them apart. Pike has a drugged out mother and a sister that has died that he feels guilt for and we learn that Bella is working as a stripper to pay for her mom's medial bills. These two slowly start letting their guard down and stop the past from keeping them from a future. Hopefully this series will keep us updated on The Dimarco..really enjoyed them!
"Your Bella?" No... it's "You're Bella?" One of dozens of mistakes found in the first half of the book.
Holy crap is this book wordy! It has far too much going on. A decent editor should have advised the author to pull some of the side stories out.
What through me from the start is that this is the first book in a series, yet there is so much as that I as the reader don't know. It's not until I came to read my review that I figured out that this must be a spin off series of the Dimarco series. This book contains so much from that series that you lose this story. I get the importance of his sister's death, but what about all the other character's side stories? They weren't necessary.
And speaking of side characters, holy crap there were a ton. Not just the 8 or 9 Dimarco boys, but you have at least 10-12 other characters. Then we have the incredible amount of side stories going on. Not only do we have the odd friendship/flirting relationship between Pike and Bella which in itself is interesting, but we have his car accident (though I'm halfway through and still don't know what really happened) and her attack. We don't need two catalysis to bring the characters together. We have Bella's struggle dealing with grief and taking care of her disabled mother. Then we have her mother starting to date. Then we have...
Get the picture? It's too much. You get caught up in all the side stories and you lose site of the real story which is about Bella and Pike.
Pike Stevens is forever going to be my book boyfriend! He's not a Dimarco by birth but by now you have figured out that family takes in people who need/want a family because they have more than enough love to give people. Pike is a quiet, keep to himself kind of guy, he has some secrets but he's there for the people in his life when they need him. Bella is a dancer in vegas who is doing things to keep her mom happy and then faces the reality that she's not and a move is just the thing they both need. Pike tries to stay away from Bella but we all know how that story line goes. The heat between these two is off the charts. Loved this book, it's so far my favorite of Jennifer's!
I’ve loved the DiMarco series and I jump when given the change to read the spin-off and was I not disappointed.
For the beginning I was intrigued and invested in the story. I loved the whole angsty vibe to it and off course the reappearance of the DiMarco siblings was a nice touch. I liked Bella but I loved Pike. I don’t usually fall for quiet and withdrawn man but something about him just spoke to me. And after everything he went through he deserved some happiness in his life.
Since this is the first book in the series I’m telling you right now – I’m a BIG fan!

Although Pike is not a Dimarco by name he is every bit as wonderful as any of the brothers, although he has a hard time believing that. Like Pike, Bella thinks the choices she made in order to take care if her mother make her less than somehow. When the finally give into the feelings they have been dancing around since the met their chemistry is off the charts and with a surprise arrival they become the family they have both been craving.
Jennifer Hanks is quickly becoming a 1-click author for me. I absolutely love her stories, they feel so real and her characters are just fantastic. I’ve fallen in love with the Dimarco family and all of their friends. Pike holds a special place in my heart for all he has been through and the man he became in spite of the odds. He and Bella are perfection.
Since Friday I have devoured so many of the books by this author (all books presently available in the Dimarco series and this spin-off), that I spaced on reviewing this one.
Pike Stevens is an honourable member of the Dimarco clan, gaining in them the family he lost, when his little sister was murdered, whilst he was overseas serving his country. A wounded vet with a big heart, he doesn’t feel like he deserves a HEA or the woman he wants - Isabella (Bella) Hampton, feeling unworthy and like his actions mean he can never find redemption. So it's up to Bella to make him realise he deserves more than the bleak future he thinks he deserves.
Pike as a character I overall enjoyed, especially when it came to his interactions with the Dimarco clan, particularly the women and kids – his soft heart was so clear (here and in the books that he pops up in the Dimarco series). I liked the fact that Bella was close to her mum and willing to do anything for her, but I wished she had approached things with her mum differently – encouraged her to try things and go out, rather than try and surround her in bubble wrap.
This was a nice read, but I found it lacked the emotional intensity I would expect, given some of the themes/events that manifest in the book. Overall, I liked this read (although I cannot remember much of the plot unlike books such as Kate and Elaine) and am looking forward to reading more by the author when it comes to this spin off series, but please let her also be releasing Ben Dimerco’s story soon!
This is the first in the Elite series for Jennifer Hanks but I have to tell you... read the first 4 Dimarco brothers. It will make this book so much better. Pike has been involved since Cam and Sydney but you feel his story more with the back stories from everyone else. You also meet Bella in Gias story and Henry throughout too.
Okay now Pike is recovering and while recovering hes facing facts about his life. He may seem laid back but this man has had great loss in his life. Now with the Dimarcos adopting him into the fold....that's an adjustment. If that wasnt enough you have his feelings for Bella. While she lives in Vegas out of sight out of mind. But now shes moving and things are gonna get interesting.
Bella has had a rough go. She lost most of her family at 17, and has made tough life choices to take care of herself and her mom. Moving didn't seem great but now that she has it's a whole new world. Like Pike the Dimarcos have adopted her and her mom into the fold. Of course shes Gias best friend but they see how Pike and Bella are. It's up and down and facing the truth that being closed off may keep you from losing someone else you care about but it's not living. Loved this one!
I’ve seen many references to the DiMarco series, and have realised that The Elite Securities is a spin-off. That said, while I will probably go back and check out the DiMarco series, I don’t feel that I was missing anything having started my appreciation of Ms Hanks writing with My Redemption. This is essentially a story of two people with painful pasts and childhoods they would rather forget, endeavouring to find their way back to happiness and survive the reality of life along the way. Pike and Bella’s story is not one of hearts and flowers; it has grit, suspense, angst and emotional depth that will often tear your heart in two. Ms Hanks has written a well developed story, with believable characters and clever world building, that makes this story an all round fabulous read.
This is the 1st in a new series and is Pike and Bella’s story. Pike is an ex-marine, who is quiet and keeps to himself, however, he is full of guilt and is grief stricken and on a mission to avenge his sister’s death. Bella has had a tough life and some tough choices needed to be made as she works as a stripper to pay her mom’s medical expenses. Pike and Bella meet and have a long-distance relationship, until she moves nearer to him. This is a good story which is raw, gritty, emotional, a slow burn, and is filled with angst, heartbreak, and humour. I was intrigued and hooked throughout, and I look forward to reading more of this authors’ work.
Pike! He was such a mystery to me and I couldn't wait to get his story. He's such a tortured soul and Ms. Hanks was able to convey his feelings so clearly. While he tries to hold himself back from letting Bella truly know his feelings, she crept into his heart. Bella has suffered so much loss right along with Pike, so reading their HEA was a wonderful journey. I adored her mom and the side stories that were told. I also appreciate the crossover with the Dimarcos and getting to see our favorite couples and their growing families. Great start to a series, looking forward to more Elite member's books.
I first starting reading books by this author with Lucy. I thought her writing and stories couldn't get any better but I was wrong. The dimarco series was breath taking. My favourite was Elaina I thought there was no other book that this author could write. Well I was wrong pike story was beautifully written it made me cry and laugh all at the same time. I didn't want it to end what he went through broke my heart. I felt for him. I highly recommend this book you wont be disappointed. Bring on the next book
As soon as Pike appeared in the Dimarco series, I started hoping he would get his own love story and the wait was worth it!! I’ve been binging Jennifer Hanks books the last several days, and one of the main consistencies is her flare for dramatic twists that you never see coming!! All the emotion is present, the passion, chemistry, the banter between all our favorite characters from the Dimarco series, wrapped in a fast paced interesting story that I couldn’t put down. I’m off to jump back to the next book in Dimarco, Kate! Happy reading!!❤️📚
I voluntarily read a advanced reader's copy of this book.
My redemption by Jennifer Hanks. A new to me author that I'll be checking out more books by. A great storyline and characters that pulled me in from the first page. Book one in The Elite Securities series look forward to read more in this series.
ARC Review by The Dragon Den * * * * * So happy I signed up to this little series that just popped up on my screen one day. It was not generic, it had tons of twists and surprises, and sooooo much adorableness happening! Not only was there redemption, but there was acceptance and letting go and growing. So sweet. Heading onto book two!
First time reading this author and really enjoyed it.
Great characters with a slow build up to them getting together. Destroyed childhoods are revealed and make them stronger than they realize. Good flow and storyline with a H/h that you will love.
A good read, loved the characters, did feel a bit lost at times as I haven’t read the series that this is a spin off of, but overall, an enjoyable story. Loved the characters and would definitely read more books by this author.
Isabella would provide the redemption he needed to feel whole again. Pike would break free from the past that continued to torment his soul. Great story and the chemistry between the characters is positively mind blowing.
I got to invested into this story! I’ve never read this author before but I’m pleased with the world she created. The characters were great! I loved how they met, I loved how they got together and I loved the struggles they faced. I’m excited to continue reading more books in this series
I am in love with Jennifer Hanks! She first gave us the DiMarco series and now we get the spin-off series! The first story is about Pike & Bella. You get to find out what made them/shaped them in to who they are today. This book has a lot more angst and is more grittier than the DiMarco series but knowing what you already know about Pike, it needed to be. The story is emotional, HOT, and suspenseful. Another great story by Jennifer Hanks!
Another great book by Jennifer Hanks! I really enjoyed reading Pike’s and Bella’s story. They both deserved a happy ending. We meet them both in prior books, but this book told everything about them. Why they are both so closed off on relationships. I enjoyed 'seeing Brody' come take care of Bella and her mom when Gia heard a commotion while on the phone with Bella. Bella was obviously already considered Gia's family at this point.
This book can be read on its own, but I recommend starting with the book ‘Lucy’. Read this one after book 4 before reading Kate. That's the correct order. If you read Kate first, Pike and Bella will already be a couple and you will miss out on a few things.
Oh I loved it!!!! And although this is the first in The Elite Security series to me this is very much part of the Dimarco series so I would say this is book 4.5 in the Dimarco series.
