Scotland Yard Bloc-Busters Squad detective, Rob Trent is facing disciplinary action but gets shot during a warehouse raid. He heads to his home-town of Bournemouth to convalesce , where the local CID boss persuades him to help out his own depleted squad, unofficially of course.
Trent leads the investigations into the murders of a musician in an ABBA tribute band, three young women and a seaside guest house landlady. With a fourth woman missing, police fear that a serial killer may be on the loose in the popular seaside resort.
The suspicious death of a Swinging Sixties glamour model from the archives prompts a search of her New Forest country house, where dark family secrets are uncovered along with a rusty old Jaguar.
A corrupt DI is convinced that his criminal activities are about to be exposed by Trent. With nowhere to turn he has to rely on his organised crime associates to help him escape, but can he trust them?
Trent is aided by a middle-aged detective constable desperately trying to re-invent himself and a uniformed policewoman determined to impress the new man, both on and off-duty .
