My fiancée’s death almost killed me. It’s been three years and I still can’t move on. Not with life. And definitely not with love.
But our friends keep pushing me to date. They say it is time. So, I give in to get them off my back. One date with a girl I already don’t like: Tenley Hughes.
My plan? To be the perfect gentleman yet still be the worst date of her life. Then everyone will be happy and I can go back to misery not loving company.
Except the date isn’t bad. And it doesn’t end at one.
Denise has been reading since before she could talk. And to this day, escaping into a book is her go-to activity before anything else.
She likes to write about sassy women and semi-flawed alpha-esque men (hard on the outside and just a little soft on the inside.) Denise’s female characters always have strong friendships, potty mouths, and like to drink—a lot.
Denise is loyal to a fault, a bit too sarcastic, blindingly optimistic, and pretty freakin’ happy with life overall. If she couldn't be a writer, she'd be a singer in a classic rock band. Right after she learned to carry a tune. She has more purses than days in the month, an obsession with colored ink pens, and a slightly unhealthy bracelet habit.
Home is in the Pacific Northwest where she lives with six Siberian Huskies and a husband (BW) who has the patience and tolerance of a saint. And, lest she forget, Denise also lives with too many to count characters inside her head, who will eventually have their stories told.
This is the last book in the Love in San Soloman series and it was so good. Brad lost the love of his life and he didn’t think that he could find love again. That was until he met Tenley. Tenley didn’t want a relationship. She believed in love but not what comes with it. She is all for a good time. Brad tried to stay away from her but there was something about her that kept drawing him to her. They both have issues that they need to work through if they want to be happy. This book will leave you laughing and crying both happy and sad tears. This will be a re-read many times again. I highly recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Love Resurrected is my second Denise Wells book and I am pleased that I found her. I don't normally start a series on the last book, but I didn't realize that I was doing that. I went in blind and had tears in my eyes within minutes. It sure didn't take the lead character Brad long to have my emotions in a tail spin. Grief and loss of love always gets me where it really hurts.
I enjoyed this story that focused on the struggle with moving on after death and loving again; the pain, the guilt, the disbelief. It made me cry, made me smile, made me understand. Supporting characters Nessa and Andy have some very insightful advice and experiences to pass along to both Brad and his love interest Tenley.
There is a whole cast of characters in this book who obviously had their stories told in previous books. They seem like a great group of friends with interesting pasts. The author wrote this book in a way that I didn't feel lost or deprived in any way. It has opened up a whole new series to me even if I have a sneak peek into their futures.
To say I was prepared for this one would be a lie. I felt gutted and floored with grief from the beginning. Then I slowly recover as the story evolves and my jaw drops instead.
I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s over the top a few times. I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry cause it’s both funny and heartbreaking at the same time. It’s clear that this gang of friends has a strong connection and will always be there for each other.
This story certainly makes me dizzy and giddy and plays with all the feels. I’m left with a few unresolved questions and a very, very happy ending.
Love Resurrected is the final book in the Love in San Solomon series. That makes me so sad as this is one of my favorite series ever! But... if it has to be the last book, I am pleased to say that it is absolutely amazing! I absolutely loved it.
When I first started reading I wasn’t expecting to read about Kat passing and it was so incredibly hard to read. I was crying so hard I could hardly read. Reading further what Brad went through getting in a mind frame to move on was emotionally some Denise Wells best writing. I read all the 5 books in the San Soloman series, knew Kat was terminally ill...I’d read the whole series again and again. Thank you Ms Wells for your writing skills.
I went into Love Resurrected having not read any of the San Solomon series previously. And wow, do I wish that I had! Not only because this book is the continuation of Brad's story (from book #1) three years after Kat has died, but because I really loved this group of friends, and how strong their support of one another was.
Brad is an absolute shell of a man years after his fiancee dies of cancer. Despite the best efforts of his friends to make him start living again, not just existing, he can't help but feel that he is betraying Kat by being happy when her life is over. Tenley is a friend of a friend's wife, and they immediately get off on the wrong foot. (But of course!) Yet when they are teamed together for a city project, Brad finds himself smiling a little more, laughing a little bit, and looking forward to seeing her in spite of himself.
Not interested in a relationship, Tenley can take or leave Brad's surly attitude. And as he attempts to work through his confusing feelings, he runs so hot and cold with her that he gives her whiplash. There is a lot of push and pull with these two characters, but Denise Wells did a fantastic job of walking the reader through Brad's grief, madness, jealousy, insecurity and everything else that he was feeling. Likewise, I felt like I was going through all of the emotions with Tenley as well as she struggled to make sense of her feelings for Brad and his reactions to their encounters. (When he vomited out of guilt after they had sex for the first time and she thought it was out of repulsion? My heart!)
Brad turns out to be such a romantic hero, despite the cold, broken bastard he is at the onset of this story. This book was a fantastic read, from first page to the epilogue. I will most definitely go read the rest of the series! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
I LOVE me some Denise Wells, and the Love in San Solomon series, so I'm a bit upset that it's over. It's the story of Brad, a man who lost his person, and never thought he would be able to love again. Until Tenley came into his life. Their first meeting didn't quite go off perfectly, as he had a plan to make her run from the set up, but fate got involved, and their first date didn't end like he had plotted for it to. The crazy part of it was the fact that Tenley didn't want a relationship either, so she's just in it for the sexy good times. He tried to keep away from her, she tried to keep him out of her head, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Their journey isn't easy, as they both have some serious issues that they need to face to move on to be honest, but there were some laugh out loud moments that gave a break from the emotionally charged moments. So, stomach hurts from those hilarious moments, while my eyes did go rogue & try to leak more than once. And I don't want to get into any more details because everyone should have the chance to experience it for themselves without my crazy emotions. So, hit that one click button to find out how it all ended up, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Not gonna lie, after those first two chapters, I wasn’t sure I’d make it through the book. But I gave myself some chocolate and a box of Kleenex and powered on.
And am I ever glad I did.
I love a good a second-chance romance and if there was ever a hero who needed one, it was Brad. That boy is lost after losing the love of his life, but not to fear, his friends are hellbent on dragging him back to the land of love.
In addition to second-chance romances, I’m a sucker for a good enemies to lovers read. The hero and heroine do not hit it off at their first meeting… or even their second really. Yet even with the roadblocks they both put up, fate finds a way to give them exactly what they need.
I highly recommend reading the first four books in the series before this one, so you have a feel for the other characters and their stories.
Now, do yourself a favor and go binge the series right meow!
Brad had a difficult time with life after the death of Kat. Tenley didn’t think love was a possibility after her mother abandoned her and her father. Tenley and Brad’s road to happiness was filled with many potholes and sharp curves.
The first chapter is enough to make you feel completely gutted at the loss and loneliness that Brad is going through and how awesome his Kat really was. Having missed the first four stories makes me excited to go back and experience their beginnings, but I will never forget this beatifully written book about an epic love story and the struggle to come back and live again when it's ripped from you. Tenley comes in at just the right time and adds just the kick in the ass that Brad needs just to come back from all that darkness. I felt so torn about liking her so much and wanting her to get together with Brad, but then realize this is what Kat wanted for him and it really making sense. For someone so broken we see how deeply he has and does love and if that doesn't get you, then you're made of steel (not a compliment). An all-the-feels book. I received a copy of this book for my honest review.
This story shows the story of one man finding love again when he thought it would never be possible. Brad lost the love of his life and when she left he felt she took him with her. She wanted him to find love again and to give her hope in the end he told her he would but never planned to follow through. Their friends get on him to try again and he finally agrees to go on a date Tenley. Not wanting to give anything away but their story is a slow build lot of romance and heartbreak and they fully deserve the HEA. Great read loved it. Great writing and you feel these characters.
What a beautiful finale to an amazing series! The story is full of heartbreak and hope. Brad has been lost since his fiance Kat died years ago. He meets Tenley through some friends and she brings up some emotions in him that he is not really willing to deal with. Their journey is full of stop and starts but it will be the most amazing story! I loved this series and hope to get back there for a visit sometime. I honestly volunteered to review an arc.
A second chance romance that you do not want to miss out on!! This is in my opinion the authors best story she has written and is highly recommended. Be prepared to suffer an array of emotions that will be mostly ugly sobbing. But trust me it is well worth it. Brad and Tenley’s romance is filled with angst, hope and lots of love and perseverance. It is the fifth and last book of a series but it can be read as a stand-alone. However, you should read the whole series because it is fantastic. It is a must read romance that will not disappoint.
Love Resurrected is a wonderful second chance romance. Its a page turner. It kept my interest throughout the story. Its a well written story. It has a good storyline. I truly enjoyed the characters. I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
Such an emotional story that tugs at your heart. Brad has had a hard couple years and Tenley comes at a perfect time. Amazing end to a wonderful series.
I really enjoyed this book, read every sentence and finished the book by midnight. The emotions in this book are off the chart and the banter was extremely fun! This book surprisingly mixed grief and humour in the best way possible.
But this is definitely a slow-burn book with not much angst and a barely existent climax. So you can guess how well this book is written for me to ignore those factors and give it a 4 stars easily. I would have liked an epilogue farther into the future and maybe just a chapter or 2 about them dating. They get together at the end of the book and we have an epilogue a year into the future.
But apart from those issues, it was a wonderful read! Definitely recommend!
Love Resurrected was a great second chance at finding love romance read. Brad had has lost the love of his life and dealing with that loss and learning to move on is never easy. How do you go on when you feel the love of your life has taken half of you with them? Tenley doesn't believe in marriage but does believe in love. Their story is one that's filled with loss, heartbreak, love, frienships, back and forth banter, steamy scenes and so much more. I enjoyed their story a lot and the ending was sweet. However, I do wish that the epilogue was a little longer or gave us more of a glimplse into Tenley and Brad's future. I needed that. It would have wrapped up this story for me in a beautiful bow. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely! I would recommend this book and other books from this author. I defintiely look forward to reading more books from her.
I love second chance romance and especially in this stories context of having loved someone so deeply that you might think loving another would be impossible. I highly recommend this story. It has a little bit of heart break but a great ending.
Omg!! My heart was broken at the beginning of this book!! I wanted to kick Brad in the butt a few times, but he ended up doing what I wanted him to do. Tenley was just delightful! I loved her from the start! This book touched my heart. Brilliant writing!
Denise’s best work to date!! I was not prepared for this story and it absolutely gutted me. It turned me into a completely ugly cry of a mess that was well worth it. I really do not want to give away any spoilers but know that this is one story you do not want to miss out on. Brad and Tenley’s romance is filled with angst, hope and love. Lots of trials and errors in their relationship but definitely one that is definitely for the ages. A fantastic series and and sad this is the end but she definitely saved the best for last.
I hated this. Honestly, hated it. And until now I ALWAYS felt this way only about cheater books.
So, the H is Brad and the h is Kat...I mean Tenley. The dead-ex Kat had her story in the book no. 1 of this series. I haven't and won't read it. I don't need to. Perfect Kat has been in every single page of this book anyway. She is in the first sentence and she is in the last and every other in between. Brad is an asshole who thinks he gets a free pass to be an asshole to every person he meets just because the love of his life died. And Kat was, is and will be the love of his life. He says that twice each chapter. Tenley, the supposed h in this story loses her spine, her self respect and intelligence at the ripe age of 35 as she falls in love with Brad. Lord knows she had plenty of opportunities. But when could it have happened? Could it be...
a. When Brad asks her out on a date by saying that he didn't like her as a person and wasn't attracted to her which makes her the perfect candidate for a practice date, you know for when he is actually ready to date.
b. When they have sex for the first time in a restaurant bathroom and darling Brad leaves her and rushes out to VOMIT due to the pain he feels for Kat. And oh no, that's not it, as he's vomiting he remembers that the alley he's puking in is the one where he's actually had sex with Kat before. Cue fresh bout of puke...
c. They have sex for the second time in a car and poor Brad CRIES due to guilt. Third time, he leaves her house after she falls asleep and you would never guess why...
Which independent, wealthy and beautiful woman wouldn't want to be sloppy seconds??? Lucky Lucky Tenley. Tenley is the bff of Sadie, the h of the previous book. Sadie gives such bad advice that I'd rather not have a best friend than someone like her. I don't think Tenley really loves Brad. It's just all the emotional bullcrap everyone piled on her that made her think she is in love with Kat's Brad. Not one person told her to think about herself, how she's feeling, advice her to evaluate whether Brad could give her the love and commitment she has always wanted. All everyone was trying to do was get Brad to move on. By hook or by crook. Everybody keeps telling Tenley to understand Brad. 60% of the book is everyone saying how much they miss Kat and how she was the perfect best friend, the perfect girlfriend yada yada.
If I wanted to read about Kat , I would have read her book. Thank you very much. And you know what the worst part is? We hear from Brad in every single page how much he loves Kat. But we don't get a SINGLE sentence of how he realises he loves Tenley. She is a poor imitation of Saint Kat. Brad knows it, Sadie knows it, the whole town knows it, bloody Kat knows it. Brad literally promises her that he will meet her in heaven, he's just moving on until then. Like....ugh. I'm so pissed that I wasted my time with this bullshit.
And I LOVE second chance novels. Widowers finding love again is a guilty pleasure of mine. But I want my heroines to actually be the heroine of the book I'm reading. I want the H to value and love her just as much if not more than the dead ex. Or else, what's the point? Stay single. There's no harm in that. Don't ruin someone else's life by giving only half of yourself when all they have done is love you and support you to their fullest.
This is very emotional and tearful for all of us who have read the entire series and lived with all these wonderful characters. The opening is very difficult to read and sets the tempo for the book. Poor Brad has suffered emotionally , mentally, and does not know what to do now. Extremely well written story to close this excellent series about these friends, old and new, and their journeys to find lasting love!
I loved this series from the beginning and was unsure how this book would effect me. I haven’t been through Brad’s grief so I don’t know how it feels, but I felt like it overcame him eventually and I’m so glad. I love Tenley in this book and glad she moved.
